Good Company - Kaden & Ashton
Ashton soon found herself in Kadenâs warm embrace. With the quality food and fine champagne that was currently settling in her stomach, his arm enveloping her and his fingers lighting grazing her skin while she made herself comfortable along side of him was enough to have her eyes growing heavy from drowsiness. Though, she ignored the tiresome feeling that was beginning to sneak up on her. As a familiar scene appeared, Ashton chuckled lightly. The feeling of lying against him was one that Ashton could find herself getting used to. Inching closer to him, whatever gap that was left between them was now gone. The feeling was now calmative. Before Ashton could fight through the urge to keep her heavy eyes from closing, her body gave in and finally succumbed to slumber.Â
She was soon awoken by a soft voice against her ear. She was able to recognize it for it sounded familiar. As the girl opened her eyes and took a glance around to come to terms with her surroundings, Ashton realized she wasnât in her bedroom like she might have thought but in fact in Kadenâs apartment. Making the connection that she had fallen asleep through the movie, a small gasp passed through her lips. âI fell asleep on you, Iâm sorry.â she mumbled. Pulling herself up from the couch, Ashton took Kadenâs hand in hers. She was a bit relieved to see that Kaden was openly offering to drive her back to her apartment. Their fingers stayed laced with each others as he walked her to his car and assisted her inside the vehicle. During the drive, Ashton never found herself slipping back into slumber, but replaying the eveningâs events in her mind while her green orbs gazed out the window. A smile undoubtedly came to her face. Though as Kaden slowly pressed on the brakes and his car came to a soft stop, she recognized the area and saw that they had reached their destination. The girl realized that their evening together was coming to an end.
Her hand fell in his again as he came around to assist her out the car. Their fingers interlocking again as the walked together towards the entrance of her apartment complex. A satisfied sigh left her lips, a smile soon followed as her eyes met with his. They followed his arms; she began to mimic the gesture. Though as she saw his eyes begin to close and his head lean in, she realized that her expectations for a hug were going to be more than met. Ashton took a step towards him as his hands found a grip on her small waist. Leaning her head into his direction, her lips met with his in seconds. A soft feeling came over her. She brought her hands to his lightly stubbled cheeks, cupping it slightly she continued to moved her lips against his.
His sweat palms slid down, resting on Ashton's lower back as Kaden squeezed her body closer into him, breaking the kiss into a smile Kaden's eyes opened to meet with an intent gaze into hers within a second. Applying light pressure against her lips as he kissed her passionately once more before pulling away. Slowly breaking contact with the stunning blonde in front of him, his hands lingering in hers. "Goodnight beautiful." Kaden voice was hoarse as he spoke, leaning in and kissing her forehead right as she began to walk away, he faced the entry doors and watched her disappear into the elevator. Heading the direction of his place, with the biggest smile plastered across his face as he pranced down the street. Once he got home, he got undressed until he was in his boxers and crawled into his bed, falling sound asleep into the best sleep he had in months.
It had been a week since Kaden had confessed his feelings to Ashton, and she clearly reciprocated them. He was walking on freaking cloud nine that week, attempting to not smother her and failing miserably. The two probably went on record sixteen hours without seeing each other at one point. Typically Kaden would have played the game and waited a few days before he called her, but he always thought that was plain stupid. Besides, the fact he was too old for games and Ashton and him had been good friends for quite some time, so the fact a romantic relationship sparked in-between the two was just fate.
The weekend had arrived as well as the opportunity to spend a weekend down in Myrtle, Kaden had originally set a reservation at hotel in the city, expectant of the Masquerade that was planned. Once that fell through, Kaden had to pull some strings to get something set up down in Myrtle on such short-notice. Thankful that it worked out in his favor, Kaden was ecstatic to head down to Myrtle, packed and prepped the night before. The older boy was even offering rides out to class mates like candy. Other then Ashton and himself, Caila and Charlotte had opted to endure Kaden's music choice and driving techniques. On paper, he was perfect on all accounts but he suffered from massive road rage. It being early in the morning and not a holiday, the traffic during the four hour should of been at a minimum.
Kaden played a bit of tetris with the suitcases before Ashton arrived. He greeted her with a kiss on the cheek and handed him her keys. "Go choose a radio station for us." He gave her a quick smile and grabbed her bags fitting them into the back of his dark blue, Chevy Suburban before he shut the trunk and hopped into the driver side. "Alright. Are we ready to go?" Buckling himself in as he turned around glancing at all of his fellow companions. "Nobody has to do any girl business, do they?" Kaden let a small chuckle out as he switched the gear from park to drive and headed off down the road.
Kaden kept quiet most of the time, disregarded anything about the trip. He was the absolute worse at keeping surprises from people, especially ones he was probably more excited about himself then the person he was surprising. At that very moment, he had his hand placed in that special persons palm, his free hand on the steering wheel. Occasionally obnoxiously singing out loud to the songs that played, having Ashton feed him random snacks, anything to avoid talking about the trip. Pulling up into the driveway at Brae's beach pad, he looked over at Ashton, pulling him hand away from her. "I'll get our bags, go ahead and get us some drinks." Kaden flashed her a smile and patted her leg giving it a small rub before hopping out of the car and shutting the door. Walking around the car popping the drunk and awaiting for her to get out of his sight so he could hide her luggage. Â
Charlotte & Kaden | Beach Drinks
Charlotte was jealous of her friend and his experiences around the world. She had never left the states and had really only traveled outside of South Carolina a few times. She knew that there was so much out there in the world and she was dying to get out there and see what it had to offer her. But for now she had to settle with just hearing about the different places around the world, like Australia. She was intrigued to know more about the place and about Kadenâs experience out there. Â
âYouâre going to take me with you to Europe?â Charlotte gave him a skeptical look and arched an eyebrow, leaning forward a little to look at him. Sometimes she got way to excited about things and then the disappointment when it didnât happen was heartbreaking. âI am going to hold you that, Kaden. Whether youâre a broke photographer or have galleries around the world, and I honestly think it will be the second. You are going to make a serious name for yourself.â She reached over and took the bottle from him then poured a good two ounces of Jack Daniels into her cup and swirled the contents around. Â
Charlotte brought the cup up and took a long sip, the taste of whiskey stronger now that there wasnât as much Coke. She glanced over at him as she capped the bottle and nodded her head. âUh, duh. Iâd love to see the photos. Did you bring them here or are you talking about when we get back to Chance?â She laughed a little and set her cup in the sand then brought her knees to her chest, her arms wrapping around them. âEither way I want to see them.â
"Of course." Kaden said enthusiastically as he patted his hand against the lower end of her thigh, right above her knee. "You seem like an ideal travel partner." Kaden wasn't one to make plans unless he stuck with them, because he indeed knew how disappointing canceled plans were. "Alright. I better start saving up. Perhaps, I can get a job as a waiter at some fancy schmancy restaurant in Hollywood. California is known for good tips, or so I've heard." Raising his hands up and outward, doubtfully of what his future held besides the bottom Jack Daniels bottle and probably passing out on the sandy beach, that was the only thing he was certain of. Â
Removing his hand from her thigh, he placed it back on his cups. "There on my laptop in the car. Let me go get them." Pushing himself up off the ground, he dusted his hands off and headed across the pier towards the street on the opposite side of his. Once, he found the keys to his 2010 Chevy Suburban, he grabbed the overnight bag he packed for the hotel he had rented for Ashton and him. Digging through it until he grabbed his Mac Book and headed back to the beach. Once he powered up the computer and found his previous seat next to Charlotte, he opened up the file where the photos were imported to and handed it out of Charlotte. "There you go. Be gentle." A terrified laugh escaped his lips, his photography had been placed in several public articles, but he got to chose which pictures were released and even if he didn't care for a certain shot, those shot didn't mean as much to him as these whole mother load did. Australia was a healing process for him, and that healing process showed through the photos as much as it peered through him.
Charlotte & Kaden | Beach Drinks
Charlotte had been lucky to get to know Kaden her freshman year of college, to have someone who had experience on the paper and to take her under his wing. She had learned a lot by him and had been instantly respected by the rest of the staff because of being friends with him. It had been a definite perk. She took a big drink from her cup and then settled it back in-between her legs, holding the plastic with her knees. âOh donât remind me that you are graduating. I donât know what Iâll do in newspaper without you to keep me entertained.â She pushed her lips out in a dramatic pout and sighed. She broke her act and laughed, shaking her head a bit.
Noting that his cup was empty, she picked up the bottle from the sand and handed it over to him so that he could still have something to drink. âHow could I forget that internship? You talked about it all the time. Thatâs so awesome, Kaden.â She gave him a genuine smile before grabbing her cup with both hands and taking a sip, a few ice cubes landing in her mouth. She sucked on the cool cubes as they melted inside her mouth them bit into them when they were small enough. âAustralia must be beautiful. Iâve never been out of the country before, but if I were to ever go some place then that would definitely be on my list. I really want to see a koala bear.â She laughed a little and looked over at him. âIs it weird being back here?â
Charlotte was almost a god sent for Kaden from that moment she walked through the class room doors. It was beyond stressful managing a college paper, way different from in high school. Charlotte had so much character and perseverance toward what they were doing for the paper. It was only an added plus that the two worked very well together and got along outside of work. He smiled, as she pouted. "Oh, Come on. It's your turn to find a freshman to train to be the chief. Just like I did with you." Nonchalantly smirking as he filled his cup with an ounce of pure forty percent whiskey. "You got this, kid. I've trained you very well. Besides the most entertaining thing for me was torturing you." Kaden jerked forward sinking down expecting a smack in the hand from Charlotte for that comment. Â
Listening to her talk about Australia, as he reminisced his experience there. Taking his drink and swallowing the rough liquid, wiping his chin off as he set down the cup. "Nah." Kaden wanted to see the world so being in one place for too long to him was an annoyance, the only reason he kept in South Carolina was for school, every spring break, winter break, summer, Kaden had made it a point to travel somewhere he had never been before. "I'll be back there again one day. I'll make sure of it."
"Tell you what, once you graduate, I'll take you on a backpacking trip through Europe." Kaden offered as a graduation present, for himself as well as her. "That is if I'm not a freelance photographer, living in the basement of hipster in the middle of the worst part of LA." Letting a small chuckle out, thinking what hell that would be. "I have some pictures from the trip if you want to take a gander at those."
Charlotte & Kaden | Beach Drinks
âIâve always hated seeing teachers outside of school, in my mind they only exist in school. They donât have homes or lives, they just sleep under their desks and wake up for class everyday.â Charlotte laughed a little and glanced over at him for a second before looking back out at the water. South Carolina had been her home for her entire life, and every summer she would come to the beach with her family. She could remember the first time they came after her parentâs divorce, how they had separate houses and her dadâs girlfriend was with them that summer. It was the first summer she got drunk with her boyfriend at the time because the realization of her family being broken had been too much for her to handle. Jack Daniels had been a good friend to her that summer, and she found comfort in the infamous bottle of whiskey.
âListen, you canât tell me youâve never done anything illegal in that room. Iâve heard some pretty crazy stories.â Charlotte looked at him with her eyebrows arched, daring him to even try and say they werenât true. She liked that they could have this type of teasing banter, it was refreshing. She moved one of her hands behind her, her fingers digging into the sand as she leaned back a little and brought the red solo cup to her lips for another sip. âI feel like we havenât seen each other at all this semester, how have you been?â She took a longer sip this time before moving to rest her cup on her thigh, her hand still holding it so that it didnât spill. Charlotte knew that Kaden had split from his girlfriend, even if she didnât know the details she did know that any breakup was never easy. Â
Putting his hands up to pertain towards his innocence, his cup placed firmly in the sand nearby. "Not me. Never." Pausing for a second to reassure himself that he was right. "At least, that I don't remember." A short snicker was followed by that statement. He had dated the Queen Bee for the past few years, Cassidy Lightener and even sneaking around in class rooms were below her expectations and prior to Cassidy, Kaden was an outsider and completely out of his Texan element as a freshman.Â
Before Kaden knew it, his drink was almost gone and a wave of fatigue had passed shortly over. The semester had just started but typically for journalism this was one of the most busy times of years, they had to get everyone going on the right track and comfortable with each other in order to print the first paper of the school year. "Ah. I know. I've been slacking." He admitted, he had been off the radar for awhile. "I'm just taking care of post-school graduation things. Big senior stuff." Smirking and acting high and mighty as if he was better then her, jokingly. "I got that internship for the photography studio, I don't know if you remember or not. It was pretty cool." Kaden nodded his head and his finished the last drink from his cup. "They sent me off to shoot in Australia for about a month."
Charlotte & Kaden | Beach Drinks
Charlotte didnât want to pull Kaden out of the conversation he was having but she was glad that he decided to come with her. She felt comfortable around him, nights of working well past midnight and passing out together had put her at ease around the boy who made girls weak in the knees. She waved at the group of kids staying behind in the room and then followed his lead to the kitchen, nodding her head as he grabbed some cups, ice and coke. âGood thinking, warm whiskey isnât exactly tasty.â She hugged the bottle against her chest as they walked out and along the long, private pier that gave them direct beach access from the house. That was by the far the coolest thing about Braeâs place. There was no need to walk a mile to enjoy the ocean. âWell you know, I do know how to enjoy myself from time to time. I donât just type away at my computer or go around looking for a new story to tell.â Â
Charlotte glanced over at Kaden as they reached the sand, a smile on her lips. She looked away and towards the waves, still smiling when she felt his gaze on her. Really there was no need to wear a bikini when she wasnât going swimming and the sun was too low in the horizon to tan, but she never got the chance to at school so she was taking advantage of it. Charlotte settled on a spot close enough to the water they could hear the waves crashing without drowning out their conversation and sat down, her legs stretching out in front of her. She unscrewed the bottle of whiskey and poured some into each of their cups then closed the bottle and placed it in the sand. She tapped her cup against his and smiled. âThanks, you donât look so bad yourself.â She took a sip of her Jack & Coke, making a face at the bitter taste before swirling around the contents of her cup to mix the two better. âThis is a lot better then drinking in the journalism room, it wonât hurt as much when I fall over.â
Making his imprint in the sand a few inches away from Charlotte, he turned over to her. "Yeah, yeah. Of course. It's just strange how you never think about it." Squinting his green eyes as he nodded in agreement towards what Charlotte had said, feeling slightly stupid. "It's like when you're a kid and you see your teacher at the grocery store or somewhere and you kind of stop and think, 'wow there real people too.'." After allowing an awkward chuckle to escape his lungs before deciding that he should shut up before he went on with another nonsensical story. Glancing over across the Atlantic Ocean, a sight he had seen many times since moving to South Carolina. A place he was happy to call his home, but couldn't wait to get out of and see what the rest of the world had to offer him.
Whirling around the cup in his hand once Charlotte had place some whiskey in his cup. This combination had been his favorite since he was of legal drinking age and began to really experiment. Jack had been a good friend to him while dealing with his separation from Cassidy, Jack was always there to keep him calm in moments of despair. His lips met his drink and took a big gulp out of it, once they knocked cups together. A nerdy laugh came abruptly through Kaden's mouth as he heard Charlotte's remark. "I knew that wasn't just juice." Bumping his elbow into hers lightly as he teased her for lying to him about alcoholic substances at the work place, a laughing grin spread upon his face.
Charlotte & Kaden | Beach Drinks
Charlotte had every intention of studying this weekend. She had every intention of catching up with her homework and getting ahead in all her classes. Yes, she had the intentions of being a good student. Thatâs what she told herself over and over as she hitched a ride with Kaden to Myrtle Beach. It was only the first weekend of the semester and not focusing on work could make her fall behind, but how could she miss the first weekend trip of the year? Anyways she had brought some assignments with her to work on when she found some time and that made her feel less guilty about completely putting off the list of things she had to do for classes.
Braeâs beach house felt a bit cramped despite the huge amount of space. There were a lot of people, some she was close with and others who she just knew through other people. Still though, the alcohol started flowing early and laughter could be heard just about anywhere you went in the house. Charlotte wanted to make the most of this situation which was why she was in the kitchen, looking through cabinets until she found a bottle of Jack Daniels. She usually didnât drink the whiskey alone but she wanted to get drunk and now all she needed was someone to drink with her. First though she went to her room and changed into a bikini and a white, lace dress over it so that she could drink on the beach under the stars. She thought of the perfect person and looked around the house until she found them and tapped her knuckles against the open door before leaning against the frame. âHey, want to go drink down by the beach?â She waved the bottle of Jack in the air as a smile played on her lips.
A regular attendee of the Myrtle Beach weekend at Chance jumped right at the chance of going. Every year it was someone else's parents beach house, this year it was Brae Garrison's, someone who he didn't exactly have direct contact with but who he knew through people. The older gentleman was quite disgruntled at the set back for the masquerade because he had been planning a special evening for a certain lady friend of his which he had been dating for a week or so. Never would ruined plans, interrupt Kaden's mood so he just rethought the night and before he knew it talks about a trip out to Myrtle were flowing through the halls, which Kaden had already figured Ashton and him would ride out there after the masquerade, so he was already locked and loaded and ready to party in his swim trunks.Â
Finding himself conversing within one of the groups, red plastic cup in his hand, once he had noticed Charlotte out of the corner of his eye, he directed his attention toward her. "Ahh." Kaden proclaimed as his arms reached out walking over to the tiny brunette. "I've taught you well my little Charmander."Â Giving her a self myself, Kaden walked out of the room to meet her, he nodded in agreement and headed down the stairs. Making a quick pit stop near the kitchen, finishing off the gulp of beer he had left in, grabbing a handful of ice from the cooler and a cold coke, he made the same arrangement for Charlotte before heading out the door on to the beach. "It's good to see there's a real person underneath all that paper work, and under all that clothing." Typically, the two spent late nights at the journalism room, where decency was not of the essence. Gazing over her body in a binki and a white cover-up wasn't something Kaden had seen before, and by the looks of it that was a damn shame. Lifting up his plastic cup in a toast manner, his eyebrows arching along. "You look good, Char."
Good Company - Kaden & Ashton
Judging by Kadenâs reaction to the quick change of topic, he was displeased. Ashton expected that. One wouldnât normally feel comfortable talking about past relationships. Then again, it was something Ashton was thinking of but for their evening together she pushed it to the back of her mind. As their night began to slow down a bit, she figured it might be a good enough time to bring it up. Listening to his words and taking them in, Ashton nodded in understanding. His way of explaining him and Cassidyâs relationship helped Ashtonâs understanding by far. As he continued with his confession, hearing him admit his clear interest in her had the blondeâs cheeks instantly started to grow crimson. Ashton has heard many guys confess their clear attraction and interest with her, though hearing the confession come from Kaden affected her differently.Â
One of his last comments had her biting her bottom lip to try and fight the chuckle that wanted to escape. It reminded her of the last conversation she and Cassidy had, which was similar to the one she was having with Kaden though it ended a lot differently. Ashton grabbed her glass, and brought it to her lips to take a much needed sip of the rich liquid. âBut, I understand, completely.â Ashton said in hopes of putting an end to that conversation. She picked up her fork and continued to cut into her chicken again. Bringing a small piece to her lips, some vegetable pieces followed later. Once the food settled in her stomach, she took another sip of her champagne again to finish off the small amount that was left. Setting her glass down and getting comfortable back on the couch, her emerald eyes gazed over to look at the man sitting next to her. Her lips began to curl into a smile, her expression showing complete contentment. As she finished off the deliciously made entree for the night, she set her eyes back onto the remainder of the movie.
Gladly reverting to the evening Kaden had put a lot of work into for the two of them. Lots of silence was shared between the two, not awkward silence evidently due to where the stillness had cut in. The ora in the room was very relieved that the subject had been pushed out of the way. Scarfing down about half of his full plate, Kaden had reached the point of no return. He was beyond full, sliding the remainders of his food away from him before he laid back, soon after joined by Ashton. Somehow amongst the movements in order to get comfortable, Kaden had found his feet poached up onto the edge of the coffee table and his arm wrapped around Ashton, his fingers lingering up and down her shoulder, looking over and down at her giving her a smile occasionally.
By the time the credits had started rolling, Ashton had been sound asleep in Kaden's hold for awhile. Sliding his arm out from behind her and gently as possible, so he could get up and put away the leftovers and rinse off the dishes. Once he did so, he headed back into the living room to shut the movie off and place it back in it's container. Following his way back to Ashton, leaning down and placing a kiss on her temple, whispering into her ear. "We should get you home." Grabbing her hand in order to help her out of her slumber.
Grabbing her car keys and his house keys, deciding to drive her home due to her state of sleepiness, in between the distance of their apartments, Kaden had interlocked his fingers with Ashton's. Once parked he let go of her hand and hopped out of the car, to the passenger side to open the door for her. Locking her car doors and handed her, the keys. He escorted her to the entrance for her apartment building, before letting her go. Kaden had been building up the courage to do this for weeks now and for him to screw up would just be the ultimate failure. Kaden wrapped his arms around her waist acting like he was just bringing her in for a hug, when he leaned his head in waiting for her to meet him half way before tilting into their first kiss.
If anyone still needs a lift to Myrtle, I got an open door policy..
Let me know, kiddies.
Drink up | Cassidy - Kaden
Cassidy banged her glass against his with a hint of frustration in her smile. It wasnât the frustration where she was angry or mad at the person in front of her, more so herself. She was frustrated because she knew in the back of her mind and in her heart that he only said that because he was intoxicated and she being under the influence actually believed it. Tomorrow morning when she recalled this conversation she would know he was only saying things because he was vulnerable but maybe she was too. Maybe she always was, that was her biggest flaw. Cassidy had no confidence in herself to be truthful, sure she appeared to have as much as the entire world could possibly grant her but at the end of the day when she looked at her reflection all she saw was the portrait of a girl completely bare to the world. Stripped down to absolutely nothing.Â
âYeah, it would have been nice⌠Iâm sure we could have made some crazy memories there together.â Taking the drink to her lips she let it fall down her throat. Licking the harsh liquid from her lips she sat the glass down and reached for her phone to check the time. It was getting late and she knew if she lasted there any longer she would become too intoxicated to walk her happy ass home. A sigh fell from her lips as she stood up. âLetâs go back to my apartment. If I drink anymore here Iâll be sleeping behind the bar.â She was unsure of what his reaction would be to the invite but she wanted to extend it to him anyways.Â
Her green eyes looked at him as he sat there obviously trying to process his decision. Although she was glad he was in his vulnerable state where she knew it was almost impossible for him to reject her, it wasnât the only reason she asked Kaden to join her for the evening. Cassidy herself was longing for something more that night. Something that could keep her entertained and to make her feel loved. The girl was addicted to attention and if she didnât get it she felt alone and more worthless than usual. As she began to step back from the bar she watched him intently. âKaden, are you coming or are you going to sit here all night wishing that you had?â Arching her groomed brow she turned away from him and began towards the door knowing that the glimpse of her would be enough to provoke him.
The two share small inadequate stories about the previous months they spent apart for a change, as they topped off the last few glasses of beer left in the pitcher. A glossy look creeping above their eyeballs, Kaden's attention sparked up as he hears a familiar question being asked, continuing his head falls back down in a sulking manner. Lost in the drunk thought of not thinking at all, Kaden begins to have blurry visual flashbacks, breaking out of his daydream as he heard the blonde speak up again, and his eyes tracked her sweet behind as she darted for the door. Pulling himself out of the stool, he tossed a wad of cash on the bar and headed after her into the chilly night.Â
All the street lights had began to blend together, but even his incoherence couldn't wreck his memory enough to forget the way to his past beloved apartment, he had been done this road one to many times before. Kaden's length arm, fell draped over Cassidy's shoulder as his weight pushed down on her a bit, his hand grabbed the side of her hip as he sniffed her hair. "You smell sooo good." His deep voice cracked a bit as he proclaimed his compliment. Kaden stumbled against the wall at the Chance Apartments, as she fidgeted with her key to get the door open as soon as Kaden heard the small unlock of the door, he wrapped both of his arms around Cassidy, pulling her waist into him as he leaned forward before his lips came into contact with her, kissing her roughly. As the two unprofessionally line danced into her apartment, Kaden lifted up his foot and kicked her door shut. After a few moments of circling the room in each others arms they managed to find the bed, planting down on top of Cassidy, Kaden lifted back on to his knees and pulled his shirt off tossing it to the side of the bed before laying back down, pressing his lips onto Cass's neck, firmly leaving a trail of kisses.
Good Company - Kaden & Ashton
Looking at the assortments of fruits that Kaden had brought out as their appetizer had the blondeâs dark emeraldâs eyes brightening up in delight, especially when she eyed down the selection of watermelon that was available to her. Watermelon holds the spot as Ashtonâs favourite fruit, with strawberries and pineapples following right after. Also seeing pineapple available, the girl then extender her arm to reach for a piece to snack on. Sour at first, but sweet soon after. Ashton then reached for a piece of watermelon. Her mouth then became completely filled with the sweetest juices from the fruit. Her eyes flickered up as she heard Kadenâs voice. A smirk growing on her face as she recognized the familiar line. She began to picture the exact scene in her mind. It was simple how quickly she was able to replay the scene mentally. She must have seen the movie countless times, each time making her adore it more than the last. She would expect the same outcome watching it with Kaden tonight.
Her ears picked up a ringing alarm. She connected it with the timer on his stove as she saw Kaden disappear to the kitchen again. A small sigh of relief left her mouth. The aroma of what was going to be their dinner was teasing her sense of smell for too long. Ashton brought another piece of watermelon to her lips, indulging in the sweetness of the delicious pink fruit one last time before she would move onto the main course. She washed down the taste with a sip of the water that was placed in front of her. In a matter of minutes, Kaden returned back to where she was seated in his living room with a handful. A ping of guilt settled inside of her as she realized that she didnât even bother to ask him if he needed more assistance. She hadnât meant for him to carry out all that he did by himself. Though the thought registered inside of her mind that he would have probably declined her offer. A majority of the time, men would rather do things such as this by themselves â Ashton figured it helped boost their feeling of aptitude.
Ashtonâs eyes filled with pleasure as she saw their eveningâs meal. âThis looks great, Kaden.â She said as she then transferred her gaze to him. âNow letâs hope it tastes as good as it looks.â Ashton teased, a sly smirk following right after the statement left her lips. Picking up her fork, she cut out a small portion of the chicken as it soon found its way into her mouth. As it did, a gratified sigh left her lips. She took her time finishing the bite in her mouth before she parted her lips to speak again. âTo say this tastes as good as it looks would be an understatement.â She admitted, and one could tell by the tone of her soft voice that she was being honest. Ashton placed her fork down on her plate and reached for her champagne glass that was sitting quarter filled on the coffee table. âA toast,â she started off saying. Raising her glass, she continued. âto a golden evening, paired with delicious food and quality entertainment,â she paused as a smile crept to her lips. âall while being in good company. Cheers.â And with that, she lightly tapped her glass against his.
Taking a sip, the girl acknowledged the rich taste of the liquid. Everything in relevance to the evening Kaden had prepared for them had been up to par. Ashton could clearly sense that he was trying to impress and so far he was, but she couldnât help but feel a sense of modesty. All of this being done for her? âI have to be honest. I was genuinely contemplating coming over.â Ashton admitted again. âMainly because of Cassidy.â she said in a tone as if it should have been obvious. âHere I am with you, her ex-boyfriend, having dinner and watching a movie. And when I look at you, I donât just look at you as that title. I look at you as you, simply Kaden. But you guys did date and share a life together for awhile, you guys have history just like her and I share a history of being friends.â All that she said was a mouthful, but at one point during their evening together it would have to be said. âAnd we both know that dinner and a movie rarely is ever acknowledged as a casual outing.â Ashton said with a light chuckle. What they were on had to be classified as a date. The set up solely proved that.Â
Focusing in on Ashton's reaction to the dinner he had just prepared for the couple, he took notice to her specific way of eating. It was quite humorous so it was a bit difficult to keep his laughter back but he managed. Ashton was definitely a food orgasamic type, she probably chewed with her mouth open and talked with her mouth full as a kid. As the moans of pure deliciousness left her lips, Kaden could only consider if this transferred into the bedroom. Starting to paint a picture which soon faded by the interruption of her proposal toast. Turning his attention to her, Kaden raised his glass in the air, nodding in agreement with her little spiel. "Cheers." He announced while clicking his glass against hers before taking a sip. Returning his full attention to the movie lifting the knife to cut into the chicken as she began to talk.
Shoving a huge bite of dinner into his mouth, in order to avoid the question at hand. The subtle taste of disgust resided on Kaden's tongue, tingling his taste buds. The moment Cass name left Ashton's mouth an annoying ring strained his eardrums. Discomfort succumbed his body, as he sunk into the couch. Of course, Cassidy had crossed Kaden's mind not once but several times tonight, but he would never bring her up. It's a golden rule to not bring up exes especially on a first date. Mumbling in attempt to say, sorry for the wait due to the food being shoved purposely in his mouth, he grabbed his wine glass and topped it off before pouring himself another glass then offering to fill her up again. The braised chicken and veggies slowly digested into his stomach. Kaden cleared his throat before he gathered his thought and began to speak. " Well, I'm glad you can see as more then that, I really am." Choosing his words carefully as he continued, past relationships were never an easy subject. "Cassidy and I had reached a mutual agreement, and although our time was for the better of words, character building. We both had realized that we desire people that neither one of us can be for each other." Letting a small grin escape during his confession which was upcoming. "It just so happens, that you've been a great friend to me for ages, and especially now and I've found characteristics with you in a woman that I look for, ones that she didn't posses." Taking a sip out of his glass he had been holding while he was speaking. "I think all three of us are old enough now to not let a friendship get in the way, maybe not Cass." A small non-convincing laugh forcibly left Kaden's throat. "But, I just want the best for her and hope she would want the same for me."
A huge sigh of relief escaped his lungs as his glossy eyes stared at Ashton's complementing face, hoping that what he said gave her some kind of calmness inside. He closed his greenish blue eyes and listening in on the TV, as he anxiously awaited any kind of response from the incredible woman in front of him.
