She said she’s the doorway
for everyone to pass through
She said when you know your purpose,
you do what you're born to do
Just ask yourself, what's really stopping you?
No apathy
only focus
on what has to be
Positivity,
not what broke us
and on what matters most
Which isn't the typical toast
Dig deeper, think
Push far, the brink
I don't know how she knew
And man did I try and argue
But she carried on steady,
all the while knowing
Which way my wind
was steadily blowing
She worked so hard
so that I would be ready
To take center stage
Mom life, getting married
And I notice it now
In all of the small things
I say to my kids and how
Much joy that it brings
I'm so thankful that she is a part of my life
Still building me up, it's in her design
She knows what to say to build us strong
To help us lead, and to carry on
And when I listen,
oh the things she teaches
Sometimes I know I'm trippin
But positivity, she preaches
She puts little things deep in my soul
That take my mind forever to unfold
Sometimes it's not so hard
But I love when it is and she's my lifeguard
Man am I thankful for all that she gave
Without her I don't think I'd be so okay
And without a doubt
She continues to amaze me each day.
