Shintaro and Defense Mechanisms
Iâm still doing a few more of these, and here are Kanoâs and Kidoâs Iâve been wanting to talk about Shintaro all day, since I believe he uses a lot of defense mechanisms too, and this causes for the other characters to not really understand him as a person, but he uses mostly repression, denial, as well as others to make it through the day. Iâll talk about pre-ayanoâs death and post ayanoâs death Shintaro since he uses different defense mechanisms now than he did then.Â

OFFLINE
Well, it's getting kind of late, so I'm going to sign off for tonight.  I-If you want a starter feel free just to like this or message me and we can plot something out if you want something specific.  Don't be shy.  Odds are I'm more afraid of you then you  could possibly be of me.
kageacademy-shintaro started following you
"Good afternoon, itâs a nice day isnât it? My name is Mami Tomoe. Are you new to the city?"
"Nah, I fell asleep on the train and ended up here by accident. Â I donât really plan on staying long." Shintaro spoke in a somewhat dismissive tone to hide his embarrassment.
"Oh dear. I hope that wasnât the last train. Do you perhaps like some assistance finding a way back?" The blonde asked, undeterred by the boyâs tone. "The transportation system is a bit difficult for newcomers."
"...." The boy heaves a heavy sigh. Â Shintaro didn't really do well with strangers, but it wouldn't hurt much to be a little polite, especially if she was willing to help him out. "It's too late for me to head back anyways, so I was just going to look for a cheap room to stay in for tonight. Â If it's not any trouble do you know any places?" He casts a glance at the blonde as he continues speaking. "Like a hotel or a motel or an inn?"

Do me a favor and reblog this if you don't mind crack rps
"Youâre a stick in the mud." The other said with a yawn. He really felt like going back to sleep, but he couldnât anymore. Looks like the Moon Princess really would have to be for some other time.
âFestivalâŠright. Iâm making the banner. I left my cans of spray paint at home so Iâm waiting for later.â School things like this were really not something he was used to. There was so much he could be doing instead of being stuck there for hours. He gave Shintaro a quick glance.âYouâre tryin to tell me something ,but what about you Shinta-Kun~ You putting any work in?â
âNo way,â Â He gives a flat-out answer. "I don't care about being docked points, I finally have everyone out of my hair for once so why should I get involved with this childish stuff?" Â Obviously, that was the honest reason. His utter discomfort in crowds, complete lack of experience with cooking, lack of talent in painting, and setting things up had absolutely nothing to do with this. Â
"M-More importantly, you're the one doing poorly right now. Â I was just making sure you weren't slacking off when you're the one who needs this."
Again, why is Shintaro always this difficult?
Ayano only turned her head to the other side, making a sad face. Her brown hair falling down to cover her expression. She wasnât sure if this would work but it was payback time for her⊠er, not-boyfriend-which-she-confessed-to-by-the-way to understand how important it was this. Spending time together was fun, then, again, Shintaro was always in denial. Typical Shintaro. She still loved him, though. Doing her best into making the atmosphere turn more or less sad, she began whispering.
"How mean, Shintaro. You are really so cruel. And here I thought maybe some food and soda would cheer you up. Oh, well, Iâll give it to Shuuya or Kousuke since you donât want anything of the food Iâll make."
Now that she remembered what were they? Friends? Well, ignoring the sort of awkwardness after her confession, they were not the thing. Oh, by âthe thingâ she referred of going out. They werenât. Sure, they had kissed for a good while but nothing more and nothing else. And besides, her brave quota had expired after the kissing. She wouldnât be able to kiss him again unless he wanted that. And knowing Shintaro as she did, he was the type of person that would never confess anything. It is an endearing behavior when it is not about those topics, though.
"I suppose I should never to get my hopes up around you, then. How mean."
Was it just him or were there some thorns in her words there? Â ...Just a bit? Â Nevertheless...
"Well, it's your own fault, you know?"Â Sitting lightly in his seat, ready to carry on with his usual daily minimum of sharp insults, Shintaro glances at Ayano who had fallen silent. Â Noticing the way she had her head turned, harsh words become stuck dead in his throat unable to flow from his mouth. Â
"Er..."
Shintaro couldn't see her face but something told him the girl was feeling sad about something. Â It couldn't have been that comment about not getting his hopes up too much around her, could it? Â Compared to Shintaro's usual rude comments, he felt that one rather lacked punch. Â And then again, this person wasn't exactly normal. Â Not to mention that as of recent their friendship, er- relationship(?) had changed drastically. Â Not on the surface, of course. At least to him, though he didn't show it.Â
"Umm..."
Unsure of what to do or say next, the boy immediately started trying to reason it all his head.  When even the most reliable and logical side of his brilliant mind failed to yield satisfactory explanations, he had all but completely given up.  At the very least he could try to cheer her up, even without completely understanding the reason for Ayano's melancholy.  He certainly wasn't as good at her when it came to cheering someone up though.  However, if there was one thing Shintaro knew that Ayano would at the very least appreciate any effort he made no matter how small.
Gathering his courage the young male slid across the couch, inching closer to the girl stealthily.  Repeating the phrase 'It's not an issue, it's not an issue, it's not an issue,' repeatedly in his mind like some sort of survival mantra he slowly wraps his arms around Ayano's frame and pulls her into a tight embrace from behind.  Â
"S, Sorry... I'll eat whatever you make for me so cheer up a little, alright?"
she had a crush on him before she ever talked to him im so
A little PSA - about 'intimidation'
// I donât think people realize how much it hurts when people say they are too intimidated to talk  or play with another roleplayer. Personally -  it makes me feel unbelievably shitty. Like Iâm in this âpopular position with a crown on my head.â I never wanted that, for anyone to feel like I would ridicule them or feel like they werenât good enough to interact with me. And I donât want that. Ever. I want everyone to be welcome to playing with me.
Some of the people I want to play with the most are too scared to talk to me and that hurts more when you watch them play with others and you have to remember that you are a terrifying presence and - they have to find another of your character to play that they arenât intimidated by. Then you just feel replaced in a way - because Iâm not scary and I try so hard to be welcoming to anyone who wants to plot or play or write a starter, send a meme, forge a friendship. By the end of the day you feel pretty fucking lonely because youâre on some pedestal not to be touched- and you never wanted to be on that. It just really sucks to be left out and not have close friends or awesome plots and development because they see themselves as so low and you feel like you scare people off.
Intimidated is NOT a compliment. I get annoyed and really hurt when people constantly tell me they feel like they are bothering me, when thatâs not the case at all.
Itâs really horrible when people say you are 'popular'. Because suddenly youâre seen as unattainable. Suddenly everyone is afraid of you and no one dares approach you like they used to because theyâre intimidated or something else. People come to you and follow but they never do speak to you, no matter how many opportunities you present.
Youâre popular in numbers, yeah, but you might as well be covered in white paint and pressed against a wall. Whatâs the point of even having followers if hardly any of them even approach you?
PS: âYouâre the best âinsert character hereâ, âYouâre better thanââ, âIâm unworthy to rp with youâ and âYouâre so good, I donât know how to respondâ followed by never responding are not compliments. Theyâre actually, in my eyes, insults and the cause of my random depressing fits every two weeks when I want to RP with everyone only to get THAT as my answer.
"I know itâs you! Thatâs why I am happy!"
She gave him her typical kind and gentle smile as she giggled a bit, her head moving from up and down in a nodding gesture. Being alone in the base had made her realize how much she wanted someone to come. But it was Shintaro, so that made her even happier. Perhaps, her feelings for the boy were a signal of the lose of her sanity.
"Oh, I was thinking of what to bake for the bake sell. Ehehe."
"I-Is that right?" Â
A small blush painted Shintaro's cheeks as black eyes averted their gaze in a bashful manner. Â It never ceased to amaze the boy that Ayano was always so happy to see someone like him. Â Seeing that no one else was in the base at the moment he relaxes, letting all tension ease it's way out his body and takes a seat next to her - with some distance of course. Â Honestly, Shintaro felt lucky that it was Ayano he had ended up being alone with here.
Spending time with her wasn't anything particularly special, but it was enjoyable in a peaceful sort of way.  Despite the way his heart pounded from time to time, the gentle air about her and that perpetual smile had an odd way of making him feel comfortable yet on edge at the exact same time.  And overall, he preferred her presence over anyone else's.  Thinking like that, a small smile begins to make it's way to his face...and quickly deflates upon mention of the bake sell(which he refused to participate in).  ----Farewell good mood, until we meet again.
"Oh, I see... And here I thought you were actually thinking of something important for once. Â My bad. Â Next time I'll make sure not to get my hopes up too much."
Wait, that voiceâ
"Shintaro!"
Immediate smile and cheerfulness.
"H-Huh? Ah...y-yeah, it's me."
Cheerful as ever, huh, Ayano? Â Jeez.... He was going to make a snarky comment about how strange it was to see her actually focusing on something, but getting a greeting like that would knock the maliciousness out of even the most cold-hearted and stony individual.
"What are you thinking so hard about?"Â
