Home
You are my safety and comfort, you are the embodiment of "home"
Yet you inspire me to embrace life and explore the unknown.
Our mornings are the moments when I feel most at peace
With your soft kisses on my skin, my soul is at ease.
Our weekends spent dancing, discovering exotic cuisine
Are when I feel most alive, happiness bursting at the seams.
But I love our lazy Sundays spent lounging equally,
when you cook us gourmet breakfasts as I admire your abilities.
Our talks of future travels and pursuing our own goals
Give me the courage to overcome my fears and follow the path that feeds my soul.
In four years you’ve shown me what it means to love deeply
While encouraging the freedom for me to grow uniquely.
Your faith in me is unwavering through every obstacle we face
Life’s only worth exploring if it’s love you choose to chase.
They say it’s about the journey, not the destination
But in you I have found both:
my forever home & eternal expedition.
Children of the Universe
When we were children, so innocent and free, we saw the beauty in all things
both abstract and concrete.
The world was not one of fear, but one of love and adventure
when our energy was not so easy to deplete.
We admired Mother Nature so effortlessly,
running wild through the trees,
floating weightless through the seas;
as if we inherently knew that our roots with her run deep,
Meaning more than merely providing us the oxygen we breathe.
But as we grew older, we discovered pain and trauma
And became hopelessly attached to the mind’s own inner dramas.
We witnessed the energy that was once so easily obtained
Become absorbed by our thoughts and fears, leaving us emotionally drained
Now we build up walls to protect our version of reality
Fearful that the outside world will threaten our own sanity.
But these barriers only hinder us from reaching our full potential
Our need for control becoming an endless power struggle.
If we let go of the fear and open our hearts
We’ll realize the universe had our back from the start.
For our challenges are only a part of our story
Meant to guide us on the path toward inner peace and harmony.
Once we rediscover these universal truths
That were once so evident in the days of our youth,
We will lead lives with love and honest intention
Embracing the power of human connection;
We’ll perceive a world full of beauty and oneness
Surrendering to the flow of infinite energy among us.
Grow
They say growth is not linear
Rather it spikes and it curves
But sometimes the lows
Make you believe you deserve
To feel the aching pain
Of guilt and of shame
And convince yourself
That you’re the only one to blame.
I keep telling myself
“Someday, I’ll learn”
But after so many mistakes
It’s difficult to discern
If I’m being truthful with myself
Or if I’m bound to return
To the emptiness that leaves me
Feeling broken and burned.
At times I’m lead astray
On an ego-driven path
From my problems I run away
Yet I always return back
To the place I call home
where my soul can relax,
Where I release my fears
And let go of the past.
They say growth is not linear
Rather it spikes and it curves
But the highs prove your worth
And love is what you deserve
So break free of what binds you
And welcome the failure which serves
As your greatest teacher
After all, you’re on this earth to learn.
