{independent rp blog for OC Kaja Miller; Faceclaim: Hallee Hirsh} ((Please read my rules and the about page. I also have verses for Child!Kaja and 21 y/o Kaja. multi fandom, multi shipping)) 17 y/o Kaja is a curious and courageous girl, who has a few issues with Doctors and such, hence she usually avoids them. She's a highly gifted and due to her intelligence she has high goals. But overall she's curious and diplomatic, though she sometimes risks too much. Her mother abandoned Kaja and her father and sadly Kaja's father died in duty when Kaja was twelve. So she grew up parent-less from age twelve on. ((for more read 'about Kaja'))
((Iâm sorry, due to my graduation project and learning for the graduation exam of my three year apprenticeship Iâm not able to reply at the moment. Iâd say my threads are either on hold or very slow due to that. Iâll come back to them once I have a clear mind, less stress and more time again. Iâm sorry to let you wait.))
Kaja crawled behind him and smirked as he called it cool and didnât went on to lecture her about not hacking the data base. His question made her chuckle: âHell yes. Thatâs been my plan and dream since I could speak. My daddy is⌠was a great Starfleet officer too.â, out of a sudden feelings overwhelmed her as she thought of her father again. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she fought them and the sadness.
She was crying. Oh no. Oh no. What was he supposed to do with a crying child? âI⌠Iâm sorry⌠about⌠I heard what happenedâŚâ What comfort was that supposed to be? ââŚdo you want to talk about it?â
Kaja tried to stop herself from crying once Reg spoke. It was hard though. She couldn't even look up at him and just shook her head: "No, I don't think that helps...", she said softly between the sobs. She shifted a bit and closed her eyes while sitting with crossed legs. Taking a few deep breaths she practised the Vulcan technique she'd been shown, then she opened the eyes again: "I'm better. What's next?"
Kaja blushed as he corrected her mistake: âOh⌠I-I missed that. Sorry Lieutenant!â, she commented and watched carefully what he corrected. As he asked her she bit her bottom lip. The young girl knew it wasnât legal for her to hack the Database and get around the restrictions. To access the files you had to be at least cadet. Nonetheless she confessed: âI downloaded the training simulations for Cadets and above for these fixes. I also read the theoretical description about the task. The rest was try and error.â, she didnât dare to look at Reg while she confessed.
âOh.â That took a lot of initiative. She must genuinely be interested if sheâd gone through all that trouble. âThatâs, um⌠thatâs really cool.â Crawling along, he opened the hatch to the next section of the Jefferies Tubes. âUm⌠so⌠are you interested in⌠in joining StarFleet one day?â

Kaja was quite happy that Reg allowed her to help and didnât pushed her away and told her to leave like most of the engineers would. She nodded and concentrated on her task: âI wonât touch it, Iâm careful.â, she promised, her small fingers handled the task carefully and she was quite quick as well, thanks to her size it was easier to operate precise tasks in the tubes. âLike this?â, she asked once she was convinced that she was done with her exercise.
Reg watched carefully, ready to surge forward at the slightest sign of trouble. But sheâd said she knew what she was doing, and it was obvious that she did. Sheâd only missed one final fastener replacing the panel on the wall; leaning over, Reg finished it up for her. âWhere did you learn how to do that?â

The little hug took Reg by surprise, but he did his best not to stiffen or do anything to discourage her. Kaja probably needed someone friendly in her life right about now. âWell, uh⌠I â I donât see why not. J-just be careful not to touch anything inside the console. The, um⌠th-the power could give you a bad shock.â He watched her like a hawk, ready to swoop in at the slightest provocation.

Kaja smiled and hugged Regs arm as he closed the comm line: âThanks.â, she mumbled and pulled away quickly. Physical contact wasnât something she often did - and nowadays she usually didnât do it at all. Yet Reginald was special, he was kind, careful and caring.
She smiled back at him and nodded: âYeah, I do.â, she said and grabbed her sonic-screwdriver to help. âDo you want me to close it without help? I know how.â, she told him proudly, leaving open where she had learned that.
Kaja was beaming: âThanks ya!â, she said and grinned brightly. âWhatâs next? Also, what is that move good for? Defense?â, the girl was trying it again as she asked and then she stood straight again, watching Desdie.
âWelcome, and yes, it works as a good combo move as the move can still be incorporated in the event that someone had a hold on you, I showed the version of the move that didnât need a partner to demonstrateâ she says ânow as for whatâs next, do you want to go back to the first moveâs level or jump into the second moveâs level?â She asks âyour answer will determine whatâs nextâ
Kaja nodded: âAh, I see.â, she said and smiled. She got it, and she could defend herself better against the bullies. âThe second wasnât that difficult, I could do that level more.â, she said self-confidently. âOr give me level 3.â, she added with a smirk. âYeah, we could try level three. Please?â
Would you please reblog this if youâre willing to write with

asshole at times but is also very kind and happens to be

Kaja was beaming: âThanks ya!â, she said and grinned brightly. âWhatâs next? Also, what is that move good for? Defense?â, the girl was trying it again as she asked and then she stood straight again, watching Desdie.
Kaja smiled as she seemed to understand how this worked thanks to Regâs explanations. She was more than happy that the Lieutenant was obviously taking his time to explain things to her thoroughly. Reaching for his scanner she tried to analyze the power flow, and it was how he had told her. The readings showed about 81%, close enough obviously. She held the scanner so that Reg could see it as well. She smiled as he confirmed her readings were fine: âGreat, it worked.â, she cheered.
âOh donât worry.â, Kaja said as she reached over to tap Reginald Barclays comm badge: âKaja Miller to Commander Troi.â, she was in charge of her until they have brought her to the orphanage on earth. âAre you alright Kaja?â, Counselor Troi asked: âI am maâam. Iâm with Lieutenant Barclay for a while. Heâs teaching me about engineering. Alright?â, she said. Counselor Troi smiled softly at the other end of the comm line: âThatâs alright if youâre not bothering Reg.â, she said softly.
âMockingbird?â, Kaja asked confused, she hadnât heard the nickname before. Or was it a nickname? She wasnât sure. Nonetheless she was quite eager to follow Desdies steps. With her eyes following Desdies moves, it didnât took her long to copy Desdie as exact as possible. She grinned as it seemed to be a successful copy. She looked over to her mentor to catch any responses.
âOh, because of the capacitors?â, Kaja asked as he had explained it more precisely: âDonât worry, I know you just tried to not make it sound too complicated for me.â, Kaja had just understood that. It was only logical given he was gifted and well educated in the electronic field. She nodded: âAh well, that makes sense.â, the girl commented. She rather enjoyed the techno babble with the shy engineer. He was kind and seemed to be caring.
Kajas cheeks were blushing with excitement as he showed her the the main unit and what he was working on. She listened carefully and paid attention to not miss a single detail. âHow do you make sure it works? Do you scan it or is there a light blinking or so?â, she asked curiously. The girl unconsciously scooted a little closer to get a better look.
âDo you mind if I stay with you when you repair the other units?â, she asked out of a sudden mood. He didnât scared her anymore and the distraction was very welcome.
âSorry Iâm late.â; Kaja managed to breath out. She had been running a bit to catch Desdie after she had to hide from some bullies. The young girl wouldnât tell that of course. âHow shall we start?â
âItâs okay, weâll start with something more your sizeâ she says and then demonstrated a move that she knew would, at Kajaâs size would be more effective than others. âGo ahead and try that, once done weâll move up the scaleâ
Kaja did as she was told and tried to mimic the movements. Being a girl on the autistic spectrum, more precisely in the highly functioning section, she was naturally good with observing and doing the exact same thing she saw. Grinning she looked up at Desdie with a silent question laying in her glance: Did she well?
âSorry Iâm late.â; Kaja managed to breath out. She had been running a bit to catch Desdie after she had to hide from some bullies. The young girl wouldnât tell that of course. âHow shall we start?â
Kaja was fascinated and she scooted a little closer as he was acting kind and gave her some more space. His words however made her lips curl up in amusement: âItâs an electronic system, they canât get overwhelmed like a person does. Iâm interested in engineering, you can use some engineer vocabulary. I think Iâll understand you.â, she said with a proud grin on her lips.Â
âCan I help?â, she asked and pulled out a sonic screwdriver she had found in one of the tubes. Playing with it she looked at Regs fingers, using a tool on the circuit. âI heard youâre a great engineer, Lieutenant, can you teach me how to re-calibrate?â, Kaja didnât at all minded the mans stuttering, she couldnât care less to be honest.Â
