“I think you’re forgetting how bad my relationship history is.” But that was a topic that Lunara did not want to talk about tonight, not when being with Kaleb is the happiest she’s been this summer. She did not want that happiness to be taken away from her this soon. “I’m ready.”, she responded once she was buckled up. And then he was driving off and the only sound came from radio. It wasn’t a bad thing, though. In fact, it felt nice. The next thing she knew, she was looking at what he prepared for them and her smile grew. “I can’t believe you remembered my ideal date.” was all she could say at first. It was one of those things that she dreamed of experiencing since she was 13 and now that she was about to, she felt more excited. “It’s perfect, thank you.”

“Not forgetting anything. But those guys didn’t deserve you.” Kaleb said, smiling at Lunara as they drove to the spot that he had in mind. “Besides... it’s not like my relationship history-- or lack of relationship history is great either,” he said, shaking his head as he thought of the flings and relationships he’d had over the years. When they got to the lookout point, he smiled when he saw her reaction to what he’d arranged. “You’ve only been drilling it into my head since we were kids... I figured it was time you actually got the kind of date you wanted.” he said, helping her to the back of his truck so they could sit along the edge with the help of the pillows he’d brought. “Check the picnic basket -- I don’t think I missed any of your favorite junk food items either,”

“Don’t laugh at me, Kaleb!” Lunara gave him a light shove but the smile on her face showed that she found it just as amusing. “That’s exactly why it’s nerve-wrecking.” If there is anything life taught her, it’s that it does not take much for things to change and the last thing she wanted was for her relationship with Kaleb to change for the worse. She did not want to lose him too. “Still mysterious, I give you props for that.” Arm interlinked with his now, she made sure to close the door behind them. “You have a good taste so I trust you.” She laughed. “I’m already winning then. Fine, all control is yours now.”

“I’m sorry! I’m sorry, not laughing at you. I just thought it was cute.” he said honestly, chuckling at the way that she laughed with him. “You don’t have anything to be nervous about!” he insisted, offering her his hand as he pulled her out of the house and on to the driveway where he’d parked his car. “Ready?” he asked, before he drove off to one of the observation points on a cliff, a place that not many people knew about in Whitelake. “So this is my surprise.” he said, leading her out of the car and walking her to the trunk, which he lifted up to show her the picnic blanket all set up with throw pillows and Luna’s favorite foods. “What do you think? Just about time for a sunset and what better place to have a picnic than the back of my truck?”

One question was enough to make Lunara want to go back to her room and lock herself inside for the rest of the weekend. For years, she believed that Kaleb was the last person she would be this flustered around but this night just proved to her how fast that could change. “Yes…”, she admitted before showing him a fake frown for laughing at her. “In my defense, you make me nervous.” As if admitting to that would make things better. “Yeah, I am. Can I have a clue on where we’re going or?”

He chuckled and shook his head, “Luna you’ve known me forever -- it’s just me. Still me. You have nothing to be nervous about,”  he said, raising his hands up to show her that not everything had to change after what they did on the night of his and Kelsey’s birthday. “You can have this clue - it’s something you’ve always wanted to do.” he said, knowing that for a fact because of how well they knew each other. “Come on, It’s going to be great I promise,” he said, extending his arm for her to take. “And if you don’t think its a good date idea, next time I’ll take you to the town aquarium and we can look at the jellyfish exhibit and let you take as many photos as you want for instagram,”

10 minutes - that was how much time Lunara had left until she had to finish getting ready. Was she nervous about tonight? She would not admit it now but yes, she was. It did not help that it was Kaleb who she was going on a date with, and neither did the fact that despite him giving her small clues he gave her on what he had planned, she had no idea what was going to happen. What did help her a little was Sophie accompanying her as she frantically put together her outfit. Anyway, the next thing she knew,  her 10 minutes were up and she had to run downstairs to open the door for her date before her brother would beat her to it. “Good evening, Kaleb.” were the first things she said as he appeared in her sight. God, that greeting was too formal for her liking. She hated her nervousness for putting her in this position. @kalebdaniels​

He stood at the front door of the house that he’d spent so many days in, ocassionally even passing out at the foot of Luna’s bed, but that was just because they were best friends - this time it didn’t feel right to barge in like he would have before, because the dynamic between them had changed, and this was for a date. “Luna --- did you just say good evening Kaleb?” he asked, wanting to verify that the formality of her greeting wasn’t just in his head as he smiled, unable to hold in the small laugh before he nodded, “Are you ready to go?”

even though he still felt like he couldn’t really talk about his new relationship since madison wasn’t exactly out to everybody, holden still felt like he was floating on cloud nine. he hadn’t stopped smiling, which warranted a few questions from his parents to which he easily evaded the truth. finally freed from his grounding, he decided to go skateboarding around town. he thought it was a nice enough day but quickly found himself getting hot and sweaty. the first thing that popped into his mind: ice cream. he left his skateboard at the front door, knowing nobody would steal it since it was a small shop, before making his way over to the line. instantly, he recognized the person in front of him. “great minds think alike,” he stated, leaning forward towards the person just a bit. “what flavor are you thinking of getting?”

Kaleb loved ice cream and it was no secret that he made sure that the Daniels home was always fully stocked with his favorite flavors at all times. He recognized Holden’s voice and smiled when he turned around to see that he was one person behind him in line. “I’m thinking chocolate fudge brownie for here and a couple of pints to stock up. Hey man, been a long time. How’ve you been?” it wasn’t like Holden had gone anywhere, but he was more of Kelsey’s friend so Kaleb just knew him by association. “Were you skateboarding just now?”

Would it be worth it? That was the question that Lunara asked herself before their truths came out of their mouths. Now that it was out in the open, what she needed to know was what the best thing for them to do is. Is it carrying on with their friendship as if nothing changed or is it acting on what they know about each other? She needed him to answer that for her because she couldn’t figure it out herself. “I didn’t realize it until I thought about it this morning but yeah, I do. What do we do now?”

Kaleb looked at her and couldn’t help but smile because of the way that neither of them had a clue what the other wanted, and that was probably what was making them act nervous in front of each other as they talked about something that had the potential to completely change the way that they acted with one another, and their relationship going forward. “You really do? because if you’re saying that just because I’m standing here telling you how I feel.. I don’t want you to be saying it without meaning it, you know?” he asked, hoping that if nothing else they could be honest with each other. “I don’t know Lu... this is all kind of crazy, but would it be crazy to suggest trying to make this work? Trying out a relationship?” he asked, looking into her eyes, open to anything that she was going to say.

Lunara was really making this harder for the two of them and she did not want to make things that way. She just was unsure if she was ready to cross the boundary with him. It’s not that she didn’t want to, it’s more of her being scared of what would happen once she did. Telling by the way he was speaking to her right now, Kaleb seemed to know that and that made her relieved because she did not have it in her to say it out loud. “Well, I do. I want you to know that the feeling is mutual because that’s the truth too.”

It was a big boundary to cross, moving from best friends to getting into a relationship, but it was something that he wanted to do with Luna even if he knew that he wasn’t ready to come out and say that, and she wasn’t ready to hear it. So many things could change and affect the stability that they had as best friends, and they had to weigh whether or not it was worth it. Still, as he looked into her eyes he couldn’t help but hope, and once she said that the feeling was mutual, he smiled. “Really? You feel the same way?”

The way he spoke about it made Lunara wish that she thought the same way. Don’t get her wrong, it may have been one of the nights she had but it was not like her to put it into words. Then there is the fact that most of what she’s experienced were a one-time thing so it’s not like she ever had to put into words. “That’s a relief.” Seriously, Luna? That’s all you can come up with? She just laughed it off which did not last very long because his latter statement made her nervous. If she was being honest, she would have preferred it if he didn’t remember not because she did not want to hear those words from his sober mouth but because she was not ready for that conversation yet. “I li-” For some reason, she could not complete that statement yet and what she ended up saying was “I don’t know what you want me to say.”

Kaleb was surprised by how her mood switched so quickly, but he wasn’t that surprised because he was her best friend and he knew her. He knew that this kind of conversation wasn’t something that she was used to having, and that it was probably intimidating as a subject to talk about, because of how close they were and how they worked as best friends. He knew that by being honest with her about all of that, he was jeopardizing the good thing that they had, but at some point the truth would have come out and he didn’t want to back away from it now. “I don’t have anything I want you to say... I’m not going to put words in your mouth, Lu. I just had to say what I said... because it’s the truth.”

This conversation would have been harder for Lunara if she focused on the statement that she did not expect to hear him say: “I like you, Lu. I have for a while. I just didn’t know what to do about it.“ The thing is she did not know what she wanted him to do about it either because although she was starting to feel the same way about him, she was scared of how this would end. She still had the tendency to run away after all and that could lead to her losing Kaleb too which, after all that happened between them, was the last thing she wanted to happen. "Lucky you. I would have made you drink a hangover smoothie if it was and trust me when I say it tastes horrible.” She laughed. “Yes, we did and it was amazing.”

Honestly, he’d thought that mentioning that they’d had sex would have a bigger impact than it did, but he was glad that Luna seemed okay with talking about it, and had even said that it was amazing. That was a good sign right? Nodding, he chuckled and kept walking down the beach. “It was pretty amazing. You-- it felt good,” he said, cursing the fact that Kelsey seemed to get all the social graces while he was left an awkward mumbling mess. Now came the second statement that he’d been worried about talking to Luna about. “I want you to know... I was drunk, but I remember everything. And I remember what I told you-- it’s the truth,” he said, feeling like it was him confessing all over again. “I like you, Luna... I didn’t know what to do about it, and honestly last night was probably what everyone would tell me not to do... but I don’t regret it.”

After all that happened last night, Lunara was proud of herself for not losing control like she usually does. Now that the sun was up and she was walking on the beach with Kaleb, she felt relieved that a hangover wasn’t stopping her from enjoying it. “You look like you woke up on the right side of the bed. How’s your head?”, She turned to face him. “I don’t know, I like seeing you drunk.” She was used to not making things awkward but that was harder for her to do this time. Because this time, it’s her bestfriend that she had sex with and she was unsure if he remembered anything he said. Hearing his question, she realized that maybe he did. “We can talk about it. Where do you want to start?”

It was completely possible for things to be as awkward as they could be after they slept together but so far things weren’t as terrible as Kaleb had made them out to be in his head. For the most part she was still talking to him, and it seemed like she didn’t hate him for anything they did last night. “My head is... not as bad as I thought it would be this early in the morning after the amount I had to drink last night,” he said, chuckling as they continued the walk down the beach, and Kaleb became more thankful than ever that there was still a lot of walking to do to reach the boardwalk. “Let’s start with... we slept together.. we had sex.” he said, looking over at her to see her reaction to what he’d said.

“you slept with your best friend? what were you thinking?” the redhead asked him as she sat up on the bed to look over at him.  “you cant just sleep with your best friend and keep sleeping with her..” she pointed out. she frowned. “have you spoken to her since you did it?” she asked him.

“What you don’t think I know that? Why do you think I’m freaking out!” Kaleb said, clearly on edge about what he’d done with Luna and how it was hard to see her any other way now that they’d had sex and it had felt as good as it did. “But Kels, it was.. so fucking good... I don’t want to lose her but she can’t just be my best friend now. I fucked up.”

kelsey hadnt seen her brother since the night of the party. she wasnt even sure if he had a good time or not. she had gotten drunk and ran off with aiden and had spent the rest of the weekend with him. now it was monday and she was fighting with aiden and back at home. she had made her way to her room and laid down. though not too much longer her door opened. “dad i dont want to hear it!” she said knowing he was coming to talk to her about the party.. but it was her brother inside. when he crashed next to her on the bed she smiled. “sorry…” she said but was caught off guard when he spoke. “wait what? rewind… speak again.”

Kaleb literally just nodded. “Yup.” he said, hands reaching his face as he covered his eyes and groaned. “I slept with her! We had sex!” he said, not sure what his sister was going to say in reaction to that confession because he could barely make sense of it again, “And fuck me, because I want to do it again! Basically moral of the story is I shouldn’t be left alone to make my own decisions.”

Twin Talk ft. Kelsey

Everything that had happened at the party was still messing with his head. He’d slept with his best friend, who he’d had feelings for ever since he could remember. Never in a million years did Kaleb think he would ever be in this position and there was no one for him to talk to that would understand him, except Kelsey. His twin was basically his brain outside of his body and he could be sure that she wouldn’t give him advice that would cause any damage, and that she’d have his best interest at heart while telling him the truth as hard as it might be to hear. Walking up to her room he didn’t bother knocking as he walked in and crashed on her bed with her still on it. “I slept with Luna...” he blurted out, staring at the ceiling. @kelsxdan​
