Second Thinking Jeans As I sit here in the lobby of a golf club to meet my 11:00 lunch appointment doubt starts to settle in. It is 11:05, did I get the time right? Did I get the right place? Maybe I am just missing him? Damn I should not have worn jeans. Do my $300 shoes make up for the fact that I am wearing jeans? Maybe I will take one look around again. I hope no one notices my jeans. Ok, he is on his way. I hope this meeting goes well and is not confrontational. I was so confident this morning. Damn jeans. Oh no, my nails look horrible. Swirl. How we swirl when we let our mind run away with thought. Our minds are always processing and thinking like computers set to process data 24/7. Data in/information out. The conversation is constantly pulling from past experiences and using those experiences as cold hard facts. Often situations taken out of context or events we have given meaning to. Our inner bully constantly giving us information to take us out of the game and out of what it perceives as harms way. Time to change the conversation. We do control how we run away with our thoughts. Stop focusing on the questions and inner voice. Thank you for the information. Now create who you know yourself to be. Here I go, confident, compassionate and intelligent. And YES, he wore jeans!
