Outside I'm a Global Studies Master student from Valdivia (Chile) who from time to time gets the privilege to travel the world and likes to be amazed by it. Reading, drawing, taking pictures, having long and spontaneous onversations, cinema, geeky stuff and being a friend to my friends are the things that keep me going on... that and the prospect of eternal surprises.

I finished the game yesterday and I was dying to know if HQ textless versions of them existed somewhere on the internet since the game has been out for a long time. Sadly my search wasn’t satisfying… But you know what they say “If it doesn’t exist then do it yourself.” Editing the text out of these pictures took a huge amount of screenshots and a huge amount of hours but now I’m happy to share the credit artworks of FFXII, restored as best as I could.

I guess you still can dream about more familiar faces in Sandman

I was thinking about interesting overlaps Neil Gaiman’s Sandman could have gone into aside from the ever-present ones with Shakespeare (I believe overlap is a better term than “crossover” in the case of Sandman stories).

The one that jumped into my mind immediately was García-Márquez’s Macondo. In 100 Years of Solitude the town of Macondo, which is actually much more a distillation of stories and ideas than a realistic place (much like the Dreaming itself), actually suffers from a sleep epidemic and the whole town sleeps for a long time... I’d say that is begging for Morpheus to appear.

Another author I think would have worked great in Sandman is Borges. Not only did he write many stories that dealt with dreams directly, but many of his ideas and immages are just so perfect for the world of Sandman. I would love to see how the Aleph or the Library of Babel would play out in a Sandman story. Maybe the dreams of the “prince” in the House of Asterion, the fictional world of Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius which bleeds from fantasy into the real, or maybe the terrible journey of The Immortal and it’s oniric and terrible places (very remminiscent of the Necropolis and other dimensions in Sandman).

I wonder if it is Dream, Desire, or Despair who contributes the most to Delirium’s graps over Servantes’ Don Quijote.

Oh, so many interesting authors Gaiman could have vowen into Sandman allong with Shakespeare. I hope someday Neil goes back to write a little bit more of that beautiful and terrible universe of his. Who knows if more non-English authors and references would pop up in there ;)
