pestriddencarnivore:
“ Isn’t that how it usually works? Murder, I suppose? Or was it just assault? “ Chisaki prodded though he could tell his friend wasn’t all too keen on telling him what was going on.
“ Sorry, I know cases are usually kept under wraps. I’m just curious. True crime stories are one of my favourite past times. Especially the forensic analysis and the way the police investigates. It’s just fun to learn. “
“Maybe. Could be.” Nito wouldn’t give a direct answer. Scratched the back of his head and he continued walking. “You don’t need to apologize for being curious. It’s some attention grabbing stuff but I don’t know if you’d enjoy all the analysis parts. It gets messy sometimes. Then again, you seem like you’d be careful not spill guts and blood all over yourself.”
pestriddencarnivore:
“ I think I would catch more germs falling onto you than the ground. That’s a joke by the way. “ ……. or was it?
Either way whether Chisaki smiled under that mask would stay a mystery. However, they weren’t even quite out the door yet when another thought came to mind: “ The other project you are working on right now is a crime case, right? What is it about? “
“Didn’t take you for having a sense of humor.” Maybe Chisaki did have one under all those...layers of his. Layers of who knew what. Some sort of defenses. Nito had been stretching arms over his head when he heard that question. More information about the case he’s working on? The masked man was always curious about that. Perhaps too much.
Internships had there slow moments and their crazy ones. Nito was unsure of what sort of case this one would turn out to be. He stuck looking over the paperwork for grammar mistakes at the moment. Investigating it? Well, he sure wished that was the case. “Someone pissed someone off. Pissed them off bad to the point of doing some nasty things.”
pestriddencarnivore:
Miura’s nagging was starting to get on his nerves. What did he take Chisaki for, a child?!
“You will not wrap me in plastic! If you are so worried about me passing out on the way then just come with me. ”
“Alright. That works too.” Nito pushed away their assignment, hands going into his pockets. “You need me to walk in front of you so I get hit with all the germs first? ...That’s a joke by the way. Though you could uh...use a smile under that mask.”
rule-of-the-beast:
Of course Miura’s proposal was meet with scepticism. Not to say the man didn’t keep his room clean, otherwise Chisaki wouldn’t even stick around in the first place. Still the thought of sleeping in a foreign place irked him…
“I’ll think about it. I will get the food first. You want nothing but the muffin, right?”
Nito waved him off. Was it that thing about the germs that stopped him? Probably. Well, then it cannot be helped. “Try not to fall asleep while carrying the food back. You’ll get messy if that happens, won’t you? If it helps, I can wrap you up in plastic.”
rule-of-the-beast:
Chisaki was about to argue against him but frankly, yeah, maybe he should take a short nap. But there was still one big problem: “All right. And where do you suggest I sleep? If I go all the way to my place it will take more than 20 minutes!”
“Sleep on the futon.” Nito said almost matter of fact, not bothering to take a look at the rather overly cautious fellow student. “I don’t ever use it so it’s all yours.”
rule-of-the-beast:
“We have to get it done soon and I’d rather we aren’t under any more pressure because of this.” Work was bound to get in the way of his studies one day. Chisaki had been aware of that ever since he’s started going to university. He wasn’t going to slack off now. “I know what I’m doing I won’t compromise our work like this.”
“That pressure is going to get worse if we end up receiving poor marks because we couldn’t do it properly.” Right. Trust the man who claimed he knew what he was doing when he thought lunch started at 10am. “Listen, just take a twenty minute nap. It’s the perfect amount of time to get a small boost. You’ll wake up more focused after.”
rule-of-the-beast:
“ … well, no not really actually.” Chisaki replied truthfully for once. Miura had proven himself to be a good friend and Chisaki appreciated having a contact outside of his mafia family for once so he had decided to be more open.
“Been kept up all night. Family matters.” Miura should know by now what that meant. “I only got about 2 hours of sleep.”
“...Then go to sleep. What are you doing here all exhausted?” Chisaki was a lot of things. Most of them odd, peculiar, but he wasn’t stupid. Or at least, Nito had thought that. “If you fall asleep all over our assignment, it could get ruined. Then we’d have to start all over again and I’d have to pick you up. I rather not do either of those.”
animarumnovis:
Mamoru jolts at the sound of knocking, almost knocking over his cold mug of coffee in the process. He quickly jumps to his feet to open the door, looking up at the other man with a friendly smile.
“Nito-kun! I’ve been expecting you,” he says, stepping to the side and gesturing the other man in. “How was the trip? Did you have any trouble finding this location?”
He moves as he speaks, walking towards the small back room that worked as a break room. “Do you want some coffee? Or I can make some tea if you’d prefer that.” He stops suddenly, a small flush to his cheeks as he realizes he’s rambling and getting carried away.
“Ah, I’m sorry. Let me introduce myself, I’m Sasaki Mamoru,” he says with a sheepish smile. “Welcome.”
...Nito-kun. Great. He’d have to deal with that title. Keep the eyes on the prize. It’s a hoop to jump through to get to that degree the wanted so desperately. The introduction is a bit of white noise. The fellow rather chipper. Suppose he should be if he dealing with civilians all day.
“Right. Good morning. Thanks for the welcome. No troubles getting here. No need for coffee.” That man, Mamoru, sure had a chatty mouth. “What’s on the agenda for the day? Documents need to be filed, stuff like that? I can do that. Just hand them off to me if you need. Hmn and what’s the projected civilian requests and the like today?” Suppose Nito would be rather chatty too.
rule-of-the-beast:
“Only 10? Felt like well past noon to me….” Or well beyond his bedtime as far as his biological clock was concerned. Chisaki resisted the urge to rub the sleep out of his eyes and got up.
“Yeah, no problem. Just tell me more about the cases you are working on and we’re even.”
“Hmn. You getting enough sleep?” Nito pried, not exactly expecting an answer. Still, he curious about the guy who others seemed to scurry from. Sure the guy was odd but everyone was. Odd but not too loud or noisy. That, Nito could live with.
“Yeah, yeah sure. Just go get the muffin before I start eating the stereo. It’s looking good right about now.”

Chisaki noticed that he had been truly out of it when he spend a whole minute trying to read Miura’s notes and wondering why the characters were upside down!
“I think I need a break.” He said and downed the rest of his coffee in one go. Not even the usually pleasant white noise of the music could get him to focus. Chisaki was beyond tired. “Maybe I should go get lunch. What do you want?” It was 10 am.
“Huh? Oh damn.” Nito looked at the watch fastened to his wrist. “Ten o’clock already? Feels like we just started.” Long arms stretched over his head and Nito groaned the stiffness away.
“Guess some food would be good. Can I just get one of the big blueberry muffins? I owe you, okay?”
@animarumnovis
Nito followed the directions on his phone from the train station. His first proper internship and it to be at one of the stop by stations. Not the most...glamorous start but Nito’s career path hadn’t been a glamorous start.
Putting out his cigarette, Nito gave a sturdy knock against the door. “Hello? Anyone in there? It’s, ugh, Miura Nito.” Formal introductions, blah blah. “I was sent here for internship.”
derhaifischderhattraenen:
The UA kitchen was filled with a smell quite foregin to it’s halls, rich with with sugary sweetness, cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate and more. Michael would have never dreamt he’d one day be baking cookies in the school he taught. The cook had overheard him talking about how how he missed baking cookies around this time of year like he did back home and practically steamrolled Michael as he excitedly declared that they could do it here. Of course a very important condition was that Michael would teach him his recipes but he did so gladly.
It was bittersweet actually. Michi was glad he could indulge in his seasonal habits though in a way to just made his homesickness even worse. He was wondering if perhaps he could request some time off to go back home while the students were working at the agencies.
That was far off though. For now he’d focus on cutting the cookies in shape and giving his two dogs the occasional attention so they’d forgive him for being stuck in the kitchen all day long…
Miho had not meant to snoop but she came across a most intriguing attention grabber. She peered her head into the kitchen, her eyes blinking curiously. Someone was baking but not just any someone. Her Sensei! The one who bent metal like her. He liked to bake? Seemed not the type with all the seriousness he demonstrated. All those books he’d instructed her to get were being diligently studied until the headache behind her eyes caused her fatigue.
“Sensei?” Her voice questioning, almost disbelieving. “Are you...baking cookies...?”
friedsewerrat:
Ah yes, there it was. She was starting to truly show her sympathy for him. She had swallowed that sob-story so easily. What a naive woman. Dabi didn’t react to her poor attempt at being funny. He simply kept himself wrapped up, while closely watching her every move from the corner of his eyes.
“I guess it is natural to be afraid. It’s all just so much…. I’ll have to find a new place to hide them, somewhere to stay. I’m afraid the people that are letting them stay right now will rat them out if it’s for the promise of money. God-why was I so stupid?!” He rambled on, rubbing his palm against his forehead. It was a whole show! Then, he turned to Miho and gently took hold of her hands in a pleading gesture.
“I’m sorry. I just can’t help but blame myself for this whole situation….. but I shouldn’t bother you with my sad story. I must apologise. My sister always says I worry too much. Guess it’s showing again. It is just so rare for me to find someone as kind as you are. You are truly a blessing, if I may say so.”
“Hey...hey...” Miho attempted to hush him, soothe him. “You’re not stupid or anything like that. You did what you thought was right. The best you could try.” Offered a smile and squeezed his hands. “Worry can be annoying sometimes but...it makes you think about things too.”
She went a tad flushed at the compliment. Pink tinting her cheeks. “A blessing? No, no! I’m just someone who doesn’t like to see people in bad situations! I’m just trying to lend you an ear for awhile.”
Fell silent, thinking on what she should say next to offer him some cheer. “You can’t get too down on yourself, you know? You’ll just get stuck in all those...bad feelings and all. Gotta keep on going!”
friedsewerrat:
“You say these things like it is all right for you to rely on your mother forever. Surely it’s easy but that doesn’t mean it’s the best thing to do. What would happen if your mother was suddenly gone? If you went home exactly today to find out she had died? You’d be left alone, not knowing what to do with your life, no one to rely on, nowhere to go. What would you do?”
It wasn’t the first time that Dabi had considered getting rid of Miho’s mother. She was a thorn in his eye and the suffering her daughter would experience sounded almost too delightful to pass up. Eris however had forbidden it, despite the fact that he also wished to bring that woman harm. So for the moment, Dabi guessed, he’d wait and see…
“I don’t mean to hurt you, Miho, but the world is a cruel place and you should always be prepared for the first. Eris and I would happily be of help with that but we can’t do that if you don’t give us a chance.”
"Gone?” No. No, no. Please not that. Her mother mustn’t go. Not yet. What would she do without her? What was a girl without her mother? Nimble fingers buried into the man’s jacket and her face went pressed against him. She had embraced her mother like this ever since she a baby. There little comfort to be found. “Please don’t say such things...”
Mother knew best. She always knew what to do. She’d always be there. Taught Miho how to live. To live without her something the young woman could not fathom. “Y-You two are both very helpful and I am grateful, truly! My mother has always been there. I can’t think of her not. S-She’s a very careful woman! Healthy too! She’ll be here and I’ll be with her...!”
