Created for Undefeated - a group exhibit at West Virginia University on the politics of voter suppression since women’s suffrage. The original will be a 20x20” poster and will also be made into buttons.

Alice Paul. A vocal leader of the twentieth century women’s suffrage movement, she really put the ‘suffer’ in Suffragette. Arrested, beaten, jailed, starved, force-fed, she persisted. Helped secure passage of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution, granting women the right to vote (August 26, 1920).

In Sumba, Indonesia last November I watched these gentle, giant bees collecting pollen all day from the Jacaranda flowers that hung over an arbor by the pool. Imagine a black bee with a body the size of an unshelled peanut and a 3”(60 mm) wingspan. They’re the tropical carpenter bee (Xylocopa latipes) - the largest of the carpenter bees. @onetreeplanted @ourplanetweek
