I'm seeing his tongue everywhere on X tl right now oh god
the funniest thing about orv is yjh is actually the most beautiful man I'll ever see
I just realized something about Victors power/curse and why itâs not relevant to the cursed boys
this whole time, maybe it was just me, I was questioning how Victor can be so close to Will for so long when he has killed anyone else close to him unintentionally. but today I was like, duh, itâs because Will has his own curse that relates to how he will die! He canât die by proxy of Victors curse bc his own curse is to die from his own self-righteousness.
so victor must have been so happy to find a friend he canât kill đ

Apollo @ the Gods after TOA3
Apollo: I am the Sun God
Apollo: And I speak for the mortals
Apollo: The mortals say fuck you
Grover: Percy, thank the gods! Percy: The gods? Theyâre causing all our problems. Iâm the one who is fixing them, thank me instead.
If there is a single thing I will forever be salty over, itâs Apollo after Mikey and Cade attempted to mug him.
Like? He is in the body of a 15 year old who just got beat up. His RIBS were BROKEN. His SHOULDER MADE A CRACKING SOUND AGAINST THE PAVEMENT WHEN HE ROLLED OUT OF THE DUMPSTER. (never mentioned again if I may add) He had his face STOMPED ON. He was kicked to the point of PASSING IN AND OUT OF CONSCIOUSNESS. Then HE WAS BEATEN OVER THE HEAD WITH A GARBAGE BAG.
Then? He acts FINE! He walks to Percyâs apartment as if he wasnt just BEAT UP. He climbed 5 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS with BROKEN RIBS and however mamy bruises he had left over from them, probably alot AS HE P A S S E D O U T. Like? I get Apollo isnt the most reliable narrator, but like?? Seriously?? Will only mentions his ribs when they get to camp?? No comment or questions on why Apollo is covered in bruises?!?!
Another thing: WHEN PERCY CRASHED INTO THE ORCHARD.
It says âMiraculously, the airbags did not deployâ but like?? The impact didnt DO anything?? Like im assuming Apollo was wearing his seatbelt, he has BROKEN RIBS. Are you seriously telling me the seatbelt DIDNT hurt him?!?! I just!?!
Rant over.
Maybe he healed really quickly? He does have a healing factor, presumably it healed his most serious injuries first? At least somewhat.
I mean true but like his ribs still wernt healed like he said after the shower he took somthing about how his ribs no longer felt like red hot metal in his chest (or maybe that was after he woke up at camp one of the two) so like thats unlikely I still get angry over this
Percy and Sally do comment on how Apolloâs been beaten up, but they donât act like heâs as injured as he actually is, probably because her doesnât really act like heâs in as much pain as he is. Iâm betting that he has a high pain tolerance from being zapped by Zeus, and that he just doesnât bother showing how much pain heâs in, since itâs not like that wouldâve helped him against Zeus. Artemis would probably have fussed over him a bit when she saw him in pain, but Iâm betting he wouldnât want to worry her, so heâd try even harder to conceal the pain heâs in. Looking through the books, it seems like if an injury isnât enough to make him physically unable to move, then heâll just power through the pain.Â
Oof yeah
I still hate how hw litterally climbed up 5 flights of stairs like that tho I cannot get over that
He ran over to Crest as he was dying on feet that were probably broken, while severely burned and with cracks still in his skin from where steam and fire erupted from them, after having nearly been tortured into nonexistence. He STILL tried to put weight on his feet just for the sake of his dignity, but it was âlike roller-skating on wheels of wet macaroniâ(p. 393). He didnât even complain about pain from trying to do so, itâs just that he COULDNâT physically do it. Honestly, climbing 5 flights of stairs after having been beaten unconscious is mild compared to what he goes through later.
On a side note, I want Will to realize next time that Apolloâs back in camp, that he has a bad habit of hiding how injured he is, and not stopping unless heâs physically unable to do something, no mater how much pain heâs in. Will could get into the habit of checking Apollo for injuries every time he sees him, even when heâs a god again, and threatening to get a net from the Hephaestus kids to physically restrain Apollo in his bed because so help him, Apollo is GETTING three days of bed rest, doctorâs orders, I donât care that youâre a god or my dad, you ainât going anywhere until I clear you.
Ok but after all of this is over apollo would totally visit his kids at camp often, and be a little more of a dad to them
Yes!!! One of my favorite parts of the first book was seeing Apollo interact with his kids, and learning that he hadnât exactly been the greatest dad to them. I think after he becomes a god again one of his biggest priorities would be trying to change that, to be a better father as well as a better god.
Honestly I just love thinking about what Apollo will do differently when he becomes a god again, because his perspective has changed so much.
Oh I would LOVE that! I especially want to see him bonding with Will more, maybe trying to teach him some more battle skills. I dunno whether he has anything left to teach him on healing.
Rereading Percy Jacksonâs Greek Gods is reminding me how brutal Apollo could be with his punishments, and Iâm wondering if thatâs going to be addressed at any point in The Trials of Apollo.
Some of them have come up already. Apollo claims that he DIDNâT skin Marsyas alive (no word on whether he killed him, though) and he still considers his and Artemisâs slaughter of the Niobids (that family of twelve, where the mother insulted their mother) to be divine retribution as of âThe Dark Prophecyâ. Dunno whether his thinking on that will have changed post-Burning Maze.
Iâm more curious about whether heâll be confronted on the punishment he dished out on Halcyon Green. That punishment got hundreds of innocent demigods killed, and was extremely brutal. He draped Halcyon in Pythonâs skin, so I wouldnât be surprised if they have to return to Halcyonâs house and retrieve it, and he could be confronted about it then.
Trials of Apollo: About Lesterâs appearance
Now. When I read the Trials of Apollo, The Hidden Oracle, I searched for fanart of Lester Papadopoulos, the human form of Apollo. (For the sake of clarity, I will mostly refer to human-Apollo as Lester). First I was amazed to see just a few of it, and much more art about the other, minor characters, but the book was still freshly released so that wasnât so much of a problem.
However, after the release of the first book, I thought to myself âWhy isnât there more art of a chubby Lester?â. I mean, thatâs one of the defining traits of Apolloâs human form, one of the two major things he hates the most about his appearance and keeps complaining about : he has a face full of acne and, in his own words, he is âflabbyâ. Now, Iâm not saying there arenât some flabby Lesters out there : some artists made him with a bit of flab, or a little paunch, and on top of that it was cute or good-looking drawings, so thatâs satisfying. But most of the drawings of him were rather thin or really svelt, not to say slender or bony. And it bugged me a bit.Â
While reading the Hidden Oracle, I was quite delighted to see Lester as a chubby character, because you know Iâm all for plus size representations and that would mean that the artists of the fandom would have to change their style a bit to represent a chubby character. However, immediately after I was a bit disappointed to see that he wasnât truly fat. I explain myself.
In the first book, Apollo considers himself âflabbyâ, âfatâ. However, it is most likely not the case. In fact, the whole book is told through his point of view, which is extremely biased. He exaggerates everything, he thinks of the mortal condition as something very unpleasant, etc⊠The fact that, as Apollo, Lester was used to have a perfect, no-fat, six packs body all the time, and that Meg says he is âaverageâ and ânot fatâ shows here that, indeed, Lester is not a âchubbyâ character. Itâs just a perfect-looking god suddenly becoming average and as a result, since for him âperfectâ is normal, average will be âfatâ. So yeah, it is very probable that Lester Papadopoulos in the Hidden Oracle is not chubby or flabby. He is average, or maybe skinny-fat. The two possibilities are very plausible: Meg tells us that he is average, and like I said earlier for a perfect god, average is fat. But skinny fat is also an âaverageâ body type, and it would make a basis for Lesterâs obsession with his âflabâ, since he would have a bit of fat on him. Choose your pick, in one version Lester suffers from dysmorphia and his biased view of beauty, in the other he is rather making a fuss out of nothing and exaggerating everything. (I personally like the last version better, because I feel it goes well with his idea that having a bit of acne is equal to being disfigured).Â
So, with these thoughts in head, I went on to embrace all of the Lesters, whether they were flabby, skinny-fat or average.
However, Iâm still bugged by the Lester drawn as skinny or slim. Honestly, if people say he is âflabbyâ and âaverageâ, donât make him bony.Â
Anyway, for the first two books I thought that Lester was indeed a boy with an average body type, but because of being used to a god body, was seeing himself as fat and flabby.Â
However⊠The Burning Maze, the third book of the Trials, made me think again about my idea of Lesterâs representation. But more on that in my next post.Â
I think artists partly tend to draw Lester as being on the skinnier side because what little official art exists depicts him that way. Just looking at the cover art for the three books, and Viriaâs artwork (which since Riordan is using her artwork of the characters on his official website, can probably be considered official art), heâs not chubby. Plus, it makes for an interesting dynamic when you pair him with Meg. Skinny and tall characters are often paired up with short and chubby characters, itâs just visually appealing.

Which Rick Riordan series is the best?
The Trials of Apollo
The Heroes of Olympus
Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard
The Kane Chronicles
The Senior Year Adventures
Nico di Angelo Adventures
I want to see the results
(I excluded the original Percy Jackson series because I feel like it would win by a landslide.)
Happy voting!
i love this detail nico notices about how "apollo had contributed the calmer half of will's personality." nico spent a decent amount of time around apollo in toa and witnessed apollo being super over-the-top and dramatic, so this is saying A LOT.
