WORKERS, AND THE GOVERNMENT IN

DURING CALAMITIES?
"Social media is not about the exploitation of technology but service to community"

FAMILIES
Through social media it helps many families to easily communicate their relatives, from other places especially when they have relatives, sisters, brothers, parents outside the country. By the use of social media we can inform our family on what to do in discerning information during calamities. For example we have we have two social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter which are popular for posting news and updates about disaster. These two social media platforms send warnings and updates to impart our family members and relatives so they can be reminded and prepared of the precautionary measures during a calamity. Social media helps many families to be aware and give announcement if there is upcoming disaster that will happen in our country. Lastly, through social media it allows people to keep in touch with our family and other relatives and access important information. Through post and tweets people can be informed by legit sources, locate our families, connect with them through videocalls and chat.

Through social media it helps government and the entire community in raising public awareness on different types of calamities and their potential impact in the society. Social media is the partner of government to ineffable an understanding of the dangers of calamities and impacts of it so that the public can be equipped with the proper information and can prepare accordingly. Social media helps also the government to disseminate the information that can save the people from calamities. During this time, social media had a great contribution in an instant and effective way to the government. Lastly through social media, the government are able to ask help from the government of otheir countries to send assistance to the affected areas. They can also spread information and updates about calamities.
How does the use of social media different from the past where information is only provided by the media (TV, radio, and print)?
Discerning information during calamities through the social media in the present is much more easy compared to the past media where information is only provided by the media (TV, radio and print). By social media, people can get real updates during calamities anywhere and anytime while in traditional media you can only get access to news if we are at home or if we have television and radio. Traditional media only offers a one way conversation and wherefore there is no chance to communicate his or her thoughts about a news. On the opposite, social media provides a two way conversation, it allows people to and share information with others. Through social media, one can interact with another while obtaining and giving information. Although in social media is that the news coming from this are not always dependable compared to traditional media in which the content are organized by professionals or experienced people in the field. It would still then come down that both the social media and the traditional media should be used by people in discerning information wisely to be able to provide the correct and honest information to all.
Nowadays, Social Media plays a very important role in today's life, social media enable people discover and learn new information, share ideas, interact with new people and organizations. It has changed the way people live their life today, it has made communication much easier!
TATSULOK
Originally sung by Buklod
“Habang may tatsulok at sila ang nasa tuktok, di matatapos itong gulo."
Do not lie! You probably sang those lyrics in your head. It is an OPM classic song that almost every Filipino knows. But behind the catchy rock sound that the public has continued to scream their hearts out on rockfests and simple karaoke nights lies a recondite and dark story that even the most pounding instrumentals could not hide.
Tatsulok is a Filipino song originally sung by Buklod, an activist folk-group in the Philippines. However, the song was made popular by a Filipino alternative rock band founded by Francisco “Bamboo” Mañalac, Ira Cruz, Nathan Azarcon and Vic Mercado. The message of the song focuses on the state of the Philippine society. The word "tatsulok" refers to the triangle of the three social classes. At the base of the triangle are the majority of the Filipino citizens. These Filipino citizens are those who are in a state of poverty. Situated at the peak of the triangle, which has the smallest part of the shape, are the wealthy Filipino citizens, while in the middle part of the triangle are the middle class citizens. This triangle shows the inequality in the Philippine society. The lyrics of the song raising awareness about classicism being the reason for chaos. Specifically, how justice is only for the rich.
In this song, they are motivating the mass not to be satisfied on their place on the society and complain why they are always abused by the much more powerful class, instead they have the power to turn the triangle around and give a fair justice they deserved. The message of "Tatsulok" is to start acting and involving ourselves with the political issues of the country. The message want to intend that the state of the Philippines will remain torpid and will not change unless the Filipinos initiate a change by starting with ourselves. And this will not end unless we ourselves, do something about it.
Lastly, this song addresses the root problem of social inequality and class division. With the message of the song being inherently clear and direct, makes the song iconic! With slick guitar riffs and energizing vocals accompanying a rather heavy but socially relevant message, ‘Tatsulok’ remains a masterpiece that serves a purpose.
Despite the fluency in our language, there are Filipinos who are struggling in some Tagalog words. These words are unusually used in every day lives which resulted to some misconceptions.
