TW: Violence and suffocation
Ch.3 Golden days as ravens night fall overhead
You grabbed a tri-point screwdriver as you delicately removed the small fan in the iphone and replaced it with a new one. You let out a sigh of relief after placing the fan back in, grabbing the phone screen with your used to be injured hand and closing it back up. (I AM SO SORRY I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX PHONES IRL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IF THIS IS ACCURATE OR NOT) you smiled to yourself. Easy 300 bucks made now all you have to do is turn off your head phones blaring [favorite genre of music] and–
“[NAME]! HURRY UP YOUR GONNA BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!” You heard Liam yell out from across the hall.
“NO I’M NOT! IT ONLY–” You turned around in your chair to see the little digital clock on your bed side table that read 7:40 am. The blue cast dorms are twenty minutes away from your school. “I AM! I AM LATE!” you hurriedly swiveled your chair over to your backpack bumping into your bedside desk opening your backpack to check if all of your homework is in the bag. Once you made sure you had everything, you dashed out of your bedroom door thanking your past self for getting ready for school before. “I’m coming Dark Star–” You turned the corner in the dorm to see Liam stuffing his belongings into his backpack with his work uniform. His work uniform is a fast food worker's uniform. Specifically a burrito ring uniform.
“[Name], we have been over this, call me Liam when I’m out of hero work, and next time you need to tell me ahead of time when you need to go to school ok? And oh my gosh I’m gonna be late for work too and I have to drive you– Why are you looking at me like that?” Liam gave you a questionable look as you tried your hardest not to laugh at him in his uniform. You knew it was rude but look at him! One of the amazing heroes at Bluecast works at a fast food chain for his day job? Oh at this point it was too funny to you.
“Why–why are you dressed like that?” You let out a small snort and Dark star gave you a cheeky look, right then and there you bursted out laughing. “PFFT– HAHAHA! Why?! I’m sorry— AHAHA! For–for laughing!” You covered your mouth letting out muffled laughter and snorts until you calmed down.
“Yeah, yeah, I know I look stupid, but I have to have a life outside of my belief now? Come on! We have to get going now!” Liam started to push you towards the door as both of you hurriedly exited towards the Bluecast parking lot.
It's been about three months since you became a sidekick. You would say it's all you have ever dreamed of since… since as long as you can remember! You had a kind of mentor in your life, (to be fairly honest he’s more of a brother figure to you) you got taken out of the orphanage and finally had a family here at Bluecast! You’ve always wanted to have one of those again. You had one before, you think. A mother, a father and someone else… What were their names again? What did they look like again? What did he leave–
“Hey kid,” You snapped out of your thoughts as Liam called out to you pulling up to your school. “We’re here,”
“Oh yeah,” You opened up the car door slinging our backpack behind you and closing the door. Liam rolled down the window smiling at you.
“See you after school kid! Make sure you don’t get into any trouble!” Liam then covered his mouth like he was about to tell a secret. “And don’t tell anyone about herowork ok? If you do I’ll be in like loads of trouble. Ok byeee!” and like that he sped off.
“B-bye Da– Liam! Bye Liam!” You waved goodbye to him and let out a sigh. You turned on your heel and went inside of the school. You always felt kind of out of place at your school. With everyone being older then you and you having to move up a few grades you didn’t have many friends. They just knew you as the prodigy orphan who somehow got into this school through a scholarship. Who needs friends anyway? You came into this school to study so that's what you're gonna do. Since it was a Wednesday, it was muscle memory for you to go too… Oh my goodness, now you remember why you hate Wednesdays. You stood right in front of the science room let out a long disappointed sigh. You secretly called the science room the lion's den because of the one and only Mr.Lamb. You opened the door to reveal students all messing around and Mr.Lamb… wait, nevermind he isn’t here just a sub. Wait, MR.LAMB NOT HERE!? You held a giddy laugh as you walked to sit hearing the bell.
BBBBBBBBRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrggggGGGGGG! It blared through the halls as you gently set down your backpack. Did I forget to mention that you had your new wrench in there? Yeah over the course of the months you healed up, you created your new wrench which you have dubbed B0bby! Because it was able to transform into a flying machine you were able to travel. You got to say it was one of your better works. The lights turned off in the classroom as the sub turned on the projector and put on some random movie for everyone to watch. Everyone was cheering because of course no school work. You settled down into your chair as you started to watch the movie. It was some random family friendly movie so that the sub won’t get in trouble. But you wondered, why wasn’t Mr.Lamb here today? The man wasn’t the type to be sick or just slack off. But who cares, you don’t for all you know he could be at the casino or something. But it was really none of your concerns. So you continued to watch the movie.
Around 30 minutes into the movie you felt your phone buzzing, so reached into your pocket and checked on who was texting you.
Liam (Dark Star): Hey kid we have a problem…
Liam (Dark Star): Orotic suit up! Hurry!
On it! Meet you at the location: [Name] :D
“Miss! Can I go to the nurses if my stomach hurts!” You raised your hand and blurted it out, everyone had an odd second of silence but then continued to watch the movie which made you shrink back in embarrassment. The sub nodded your head grabbing your back and dashed off to the front office flinging the door open grabbing your Bluecast Identity card and slamming it down, knotting the office lady’s desk. “I am a sidekick of the hero Dark Star, I need to skip class to go on official hero work! If anyone asks, I was sent home for the day!”
“What?” Mrs.Santos grabbed the identity card, looked at it and gave it back to you. “Fine, but you still have to do your school work from today later on ok?”
“O-ok fine! Thank you again, I’ll go change, but promise me no one else will know about this.” You spoke sternly as you went into the office bathroom to change Mrs.Santos nodding as you went. Soon enough you changed into the hero outfit that Patchy gave you but this time putting on special Orange goggles that BlueCast gave you to check on live information during the fights. It could summon holograms only you can see making you click on the location of what Dark star sent you. Orotic was in the old Bluecast lab that was exploded not to long ago. You clicked accept mission for the Bluecast log in and ran out of the bathroom pulling B0bby out of you bag who just looked like a normal wrench made of multiple metal plates. “Wheres the roof?” You looked over to the front desk as Mrs.Sentos pointed stair well. You nodded in thanks and ran up the stairwell getting up to the school roof and pressing the button on the wrench changing into the giant version of the wrench. “Oh wait wrong one…” You pressed the button again making the end of the wrench turn into a ball and the wrench top turning into propeller. You got onto the two foot holdings carved near the top of the ball and pressing a switch to turn B0bby on. As soon as you pressed it the screen at the front of the ball light up to reveal a small animated face that was smiling. “Good morning B0bby!”
“!@#%$##&$)%*%&$!!!” B0bbye blurted out letting you know it was ready.
“Can you bring me to this location please?” You transmitted the location of the program you used for B0bby, after a few seconds passed the screen lit up with a green check mark and you were off to go meet Dark Star.
After a bit of a wobbly flight over to the Lab you landed safely on the roof of the building. You turned B0bby back into the original wrench and sat down on the ground waiting for Dark Star. The sky was blue and the birds were soaring overhead. But the building as you could see was probably in its worst condition. You would think that Bluecast would maintain or at least destroy their old buildings but no, The old Bluecast lab was strewn in vines and the ground beneath was covered in rubble. You’re surprised the building was even standing after the explosion. What was it caused by again? It was some war, yadda yadda… Bluecast was made… Then the lab to test peoples powers which was this one… then it was moved to the new Bluecast building? You don’t remember, you came here for a school trip or something like that. It was a long time ago. Thinking about it, your whole childhood seemed kind of fuzzy…
“Tinker!” Dark Star’s voice called out as you heard a big gust of wind then a small thud behind you. Turning your head you see darkstar in his signature purple and black outfit with his sparkly wings spread out. “Are you ready for another fight?”
“Ready as I’ll ever be…” Taking a deep breath you went to Dark Star’s side, gave him a smile and walked over to the abandoned stairwell to get it robotic. You grabbed the handle and twisted it. “It won’t open…”
“Did you try twisting it the other way?” You did as Dark Star said and still the door knob didn’t budge. You pouted a bit and started to aggressively twist the knob to no avail.
“Dark Star.” Looking her dead in the eyes you said. “Break down the door.”
“Then explode it with one of your Arrows!”
“And let Orotic know we’re here?! Hell no, you break it down kid.”
“I won’t do that either, so what do you have in mind?”
Right after Dark Star spoke, he grabbed you by both of your arms and flew into the air. “WAIT—WAIT!”
“Sorry kid! This is the only way!” Both of you by now were flying around the building looking for an entrance that was open or at least an open window. You could have perfectly just got onto B0bby to fly but you knew that Dark Star was a little too impulsive for that.
“Over there!” YOu pointed to an open window with your wrench, right when Dark Spotted the window too, he flew straight towards it landing inside and placing you down. “Ow…” You stretched your arms a bit due to Dark Star carrying you from them.
“Ooooooo… Sorry,” Dark Star scratched the back of his head a bit then walked over to the door to lead to the main room. You could tell Orotic was here, and for a pretty long time, you can tell from seeing his signature black rock material already seeping from under the door. Dark starr slowly opened the door to reveal almost the whole place to be covered in rock not like the Fisherman’s plaza where it was just the ground. “Tinker, stay low, keep quiet…” After Dark Star said this, he summoned his bow and drew an arrow out of thin air making a small harmonizing noise. It also illuminated the room a bit with its glow. You charged up your wrench holding it like a baseball bat following Dark Star as you both walked out of the room.
Both of you walked as quietly as you could as you ventured deeper into the abandoned building. The stone glowing a golden yellow color with a certain rhythm that looked like a pulse. It was quiet, too quiet, all you could hear was each other's breathing and footsteps. Soon enough both entered what seemed to be the main lobby with the Bluecast logo destroyed on the ground and lounge chairs and desks now covered in the black material. You looked around the place slowly letting down your guard sense it felt like no one was there. Until you heard rocks forming behind you. Without thinking, you whipped around and shot the closest thing you can see, a singular pillar made of the same black rock with the blast function on your wrench. With the crashing and crumbling of the rock and the blast of electricity you sent out, a load echo ringed out between the rocks.
“Found you…” A deep voice rang out from building it wasn’t Dark Star’s, it was Orotics…
“Kid…?” Dark Star whispered out before a giant spike shot out of the ground almost hitting him. Instantly he shot it with his arrow making it explode. Another spike popped up near you instantly making you hit it with your wrench. Not even in a few seconds both of you have been separated with Dark Star in the air while you are fighting the rock structures on the ground. But you noticed something, Orotic wasn’t anywhere in sight. You turned behind you to see Dark Star getting tired by the second darting around shooting rock formations like a humming bird. This was definitely bad, the more Dark Star gets fatigued the more likely he will faint mid air because of his powers eating up his energy. But you kept fighting. Spike popped up out of the ground causing you to stumble, you shot it. One almost hitting Dark Star from behind you blasted it again. A pillar almost hit you, you ducked and hit it with your wrench.
Turning around you see the Dark Star falling. Falling. His wings fading away like dust as he fainted “NO!” As fast as you could you blasted the spike that he was about to fall on. You couldn’t cushion his fall or had any powers to prevent it so all you could do was watch the painful scene of him crashing to the ground with a thud. He had scratches and wounds all over his arms and face, just more to add to the profiler of scars he had. Luckily he was alive, but had a few broken bones. You let out a sigh of relief, luckily you only had a few scratches on you and a torn up jacket. You turn on your orange visors to check his vitals, luckily his pulse was good too.
“You know, he seems less imitating when he is knocked out like this…” Orotic’s voice rang out from behind you. You quickly gripped your wrench charging it up ready to shoot. Morphing from the rock came out a statue that quickly morphed into Orotic.
“Don’t touch him…” Your wrench admitted a small light as small sparks of electricity flew out and dissipated on the floor.
“Aww child, who said I will?” Orotic raised his hand as the corrupted part of his face glowed, behind you you heard crackling of rocks, you turned around to look too see Dark Star being encased in the stone and raised up into the air, the stone started to pulsate the same golden color. You raised up your wrench ready to blast away the rock until Orotic spoke again. “Ah, ah, ah, if you try damaging my rocks, it will only hurt sweet Dark Star even more… And you don’t want that do you?”
“What do you want from us?” You turned around and faced Orotic who was grinning from ear to ear. The rock-like patch over his face is still glowing. You raised your wrench right towards his face. You tried to look as brave and fierce as you could but in reality, you were scared to the bone. Your eyes were unfocusing and refocusing, your breath shaky, and your legs felt jello.
“It’s not what I want from both of you, Dark Star has given me too much to deal with anyways, it's what I want from you…” Orotic crossed his arms behind his back as he gave you a calm look but strained look, like one of Mr.Lambs right before he burst out into a rant.
“And what is that?” You locked eyes with him trying to calm yourself down and not panic, yes, your mentor literally passed out and you were on a 1v1 with one of the most terrifying villains you have ever seen in Herabi, but it's fine! You're good! Just don’t die and get you and Dark Star out of here!
“Just a few questions, probably only like five max, are you willing to answer?” You nodded your head slowly scared about what he is going to ask you? Like is he going to ask you personal stuff about Dark Star so he knows how to take him down? Or Worse?! Stuff about Blue Cast you don’t even know yourself and he’ll get mad at you for not knowing thinking you do know and end up killing you and Liam because of it! “Good, don't put down your weapon first.” You gripped your wrench refusing to let it go. “I said, put it down,” A stone vine sprouted out of the ground and grabbed your weapon, yanking it out of your hands and anchoring it towards the ground. You tried to grab it but it wouldn’t budge. “And now, follow me,” Another stone vine grabbed your arm, making you follow Orotic as you walked down another hall away from Dark Star.
After a minute of walking you both entered a room that was full of glitchy holograms and computers. Orotic stopped in front of the biggest holographic computer in the room which spanned to almost be as big as the room itself and started to type. You tried to move your hand from the vine but without your wrench to break it the rock was basically indestructible to you. “Now, here this is how it will play out little Tinker, I’ll get to ask you five questions, and each one you get correct the closer you and your sweet mentor be let go, but each question you lie about or get wrong, the more I’ll tighten the rocks around him ok?”
“What?” Worried you looked to Orotic with terror in your eyes.
“It was a yes or no question child, do you know what, let me show you…” Orotic raised his hand away from the keyboard and in the distance you could here something, like if you wear rubbing stone against stone. Soon enough, The stone cased Dark Star came into the room still passed out. Orotic squeezed his hands together making the stone tighten. You could hear Dark Star weeze as the stones permanently became tighter.
“YES! Ok, fine!” You let out a defeated sigh knowing if you don’t go along worse things will happen. You look down towards the ground. Knowing you couldn’t handle this by yourself, you reach you to your orange visors using the eye tracking system to call for Bluecast back up. Your breath hitched a bit. The Wi-Fi in the building was low and the distress call with talk about atleast five minutes to send. Just enough time for Orotic’s questions.
“Ok first question.” Orotic spun around towards you. “Do you remember being here?” The man raised his arm up to be referring to the old blue cast lab.
“I only came here on a school field trip once…” You answered as truffly as you could, or so you think.
“Not the answer I was looking for but oh well…” Orotic tapped his lips as he thought of another question. “Do you remember anything when you were a little kid?”
“I don’t remember anything until I lived in the Herabi orphanage…” Anything before the orphanage was just fuzzy, only mix of voices and feelings and thats it.
“Good, we are almost half way through, now, do you have any powers? I have never seen you use them,” Orotic bent down to be eue level with you smiling from ear to ear.
“No, I don’t…” You frowned a bit afte that sentence now that your opponent knows one of your major weaknesses.
“Ok, now one of the bigger questions…” Orotic turned back around face the computer and pulled up a file then took out a data file on someone. They had silver hair that was a bit grown out and icy blue eyes. They look familiar. “Can you tell me who this is, and I can guarantee you, you know who this man is.”
“I don’t know…” You blurted out, but the man shad some sort of familiarity to him. Like he was in a dream before. Wait. no, this is dumb, it was the man from the nightmares you had,
“Yes you do,” Orotic squeezed his hand together tightening the stone around Dark Star basically squeezing the air out fo him.
“I said I don’t know!” You screamed out trying to wrestle your arm out of the rocky vine.
“Yes you do, maybe those orange glasses ar blocking your view!” Orotic quickly snatched the visors off and stomped on them letting out a grunt permanently damaging them. Luckily the distress signal got sent out.
“My visors…” You starred at the broken glass in horror. The only thing protecting your identity was gone. The visors helped making your face look slightly different fron your original self but with out them, you weren’t Tinker anymore. You were Just [Name] poor scared [Name]
“Now back to what I was saying–” When Orotic turned towards you he froze and dropped his calm strained complexion and just stared at you with confusion and horror. He covered his mouth and back up bumping into the desk making him instantly cover up the patch on his eye. Staring at him with out it. He looked familiar. So, so, so, familiar, more then the boy on the screen.
“Mr–Mr.Lamb?” Your voice almost cracked as you squeaked out the sentence in disbelief.
“[Name]?” Orotic looked as distraught as you by now, but before he could say or do something else, the wall behind the all of you blew up and came crashing down. Before the rubble could reach Orotic, he aborbsed himself back into the rock saving himself.
“Distress signal received anyone hurt?” The fifth member of the council Gearwreck stood above the rubble two robotic helpers already scanning the room.
“Dark Star, He–He’s suffocating in the rock, I-I don’t know how to get him out. What do I do?!” After Orotic, well Mr.Lamb left, all your suppressed fear came crashing down on you making you break out into a sob.
“Don’t worry I got it kid,” While getting your trapped hand out of rock vine he turned to one of his robotic helpers and said. “B-139, order for medical personal to arrive amieditaly, we have a Bluecast member in need of medical attention.” The robot nodded and started to do the command. After Gearwreck got you out of the rock he told you to sit down on one of the fallen rubbles to wait for the ambulance to arrive. You hugged yourself a bit reimagining the past hour or so, Orotic was most likely your teacher who you’ll have to avoid somehow because both of you know. And the boy in the photo. Soon enough the ambulance came and Dark star got out of rock and both of you were rushed to Bluecast hospital you with a weighted blanket over your shoulders and dark star with an air mask on.
GearWreck continued to search through the old Labs remnants finally seeing the old picture of the silvered hair boy. His eyes softened as he picked the screen shard up. Good thing that holographic screens could still work even broken.
“Sir, do you want me to hire a clean up crew to get rid of the Villain marks?” A robotic voice sprung up behind him making him drop the glass.
“No, right when we step foot off of the property, blow the whole place up understand?”
“Yes sir,” The sped off to the other robots making a small whirring sound.
“No one, must know,” Gearwreck walked over to the main pc of the computer and grabbed the harddrive attached and unplugged it retrieving all of the data.

AN: I HAVEN'T UPDATED IN SO LONG THANK YOU ALL WHO WERE PATIENT ENOUGH ALL THE LOVE TO YOU ALL HAVE A NICE DAYYY!!!! (dividers made by @enchanthings-a)
Bonus!!: A few fun facts, This chapter is based off of both Dark Star and Orotic! Second, the reason why Orotic/Mr.Lamb covers his stone patch on his face is because its a trauma response to seeing him first in his corrupted stone form. He does it both out of and in Villain work, poor guy.
