Holy Family
Happy Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary & Joseph!
I just experienced a very special and unique holy hour before the Blessed Sacrament exposed.
This Catholic singer & musician Michael John Poirier visited this weekend at Mary, Queen of Heaven parish here in Orange Park, FL. He travels with his family in an RV, and I believe their home is based in Phoenix, AZ. Anyways he travels with his family doing mini concerts, but mostly leading worship in front of the Blessed Sacrament exposed which he says is this strength, and having witnessed it today, I believe him haha. We were blessed to have him at our parish because he was coming back from a visit in Ft. Myers, so he stopped by Jacksonville since he told Fr. Denis (who he met in Phoenix) he would if he was ever around the area. Btw, Michael John is part of a non-profit organization, so he earns money from generous donations, usually from his CDs and possible stipends that he requests, but does NOT require.
So anyways, at this Holy Hour, I was surprised to see so many families. Maybe it's because most my experiences with holy hours has been in college, but it just seemed so perfect to have this holy hour today on the feast of the Holy Family. It was beautiful to witness families gathered this afternoon to worship our Lord Jesus Christ in the Real Presence of the Eucharist. Eager to increase their faith & teach their children the faith. Just so beautiful & perfect to see families together in prayer in front of the Blessed Sacrament on this feast day of the Holy Family. I do believe that by the grace of the Holy Spirit, this holy hour was inspired by the Holy Family.
I pray that Jesus maybe enter back into the homes of our families. May He became the center of our families again. Witnessing this special holy hour today definitely gave me hope for the future families to come.
A personal part of this experience is the fact that my own family came to this holy hour. It filled my heart with great joy & consolation that I was praying together with my family in front of the Blessed Sacrament. It is beautiful to witness my family increasing in prayer & in faith each day. I can definitely see God working in my family and in their hearts.
I pray that our families may be modeled after the Holy Family. Lord, please protect our families from the enemy who will try to tear us apart and try to turn our families from You. May our families be strengthened by You, Jesus, Who should be the center of our families & our lives, and from there may our families learn to truly love by Your example for You are Love Itself.
Amen.
P.S. After the Holy Hour, my dad all of a sudden had a sense of urgency to put the "I believe" stickers on the rest of our cars :)
Bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine: Bishop Felipe Estevez

So I know I haven't posted in tumblr for a while, but I just had to share these thoughts & moments I had tonight during Mass that Bishop Estevez celebrated tonight & the reception afterwards for Simbang Gabi. So I needed a place to post so why not on my already existing tumblr.
Diocese of St. Augustine, we have a really amazing bishop. Cherish him. Pray for him constantly.
-It already means so much that Bishop Estevez came to celebrate the last night of Simbang Gabi with the Filipino community of Jacksonville. He really cares about his flock that he has been called to shepherd.
-during Mass- during the offertory, Bishop Estevez was sitting down waiting until the gifts were to be brought up. He had his eyes closed while listening to the choir singing, but I didn't realized that he wasn't just hearing the music, but he was actually listening to what the choir was singing. It was one of those times that the bishop had his mic on and you could hear even the little things he was saying, and usually it is very disruptive, but, at least for me, this time it wasn't. I started to hear his voice through the speakers, and listened to what he was saying. He was singing along with the choir. Keep in mind, he has no worship aid of any sort & I can barely make out what the choir is singing, but the bishop had be listening this whole time with his eyes closed and picked out that the choir was singing "Ave Maria gratia plena Dominus tecum benedictatu" at the end of each verse. From that point on, I could tell he was listening to every single word of prayer that the choir was singing, which in turn influenced me to try harder to listen to the words. This allowed me to witness the bishop being the prime example of someone fully participating in the Mass & fully engaged in the Liturgy. Of course, that should seem obvious, he's a bishop, so he's a very holy man, but this is the first time I could physically see a glimpse of how Bishop Estevez had all of his being engaged in the Mass. I was very inspired and moved by all of this.
-after Mass- So obviously there is going to be a long line of people going to greet both Father Rafael (the priest who celebrated all the Simbang Gabi Masses) and Bishop Estevez. Naturally, I go in line with my family to greet. I'm thinking to myself, "I wonder if he remembers me...I really want to introduce him to my family..." So we finally get to the bishop, we greet him reverently, then he sees my face and he smiles very big and asks how am I and says, "I thought you were in Gainesville!" haha and explain to him how I'm on break and that my family & I reside in Jacksonville. I introduce him to my family and he was so kind to all of us. He so kindly said to my family about me, "You have a gift." I was so shocked and humbled. It's so comforting to know that we have a bishop who does his best to remember you. Right before we walked away from the bishop, a lady was telling the bishop something along the lines of having to get somewhere or something, probably about his reserved seating at the reception, and I hear him tell her, "Okay, but I must greet the people first." like WOW. Bishop Estevez makes it a priority to greet the people. To connect with us. I am so grateful :)
-coming into the reception- Bishop Estevez looked like he was the president or a celebrity or something because he had 4 Knights of Columbus in full out uniform, 2 in front & 2 in back, surrounding him & escorting him into the reception hall to his table. It was like secret service for the bishop haha. He passed by me and I said something that I forget, but he says with a big smile, "I am very well protected." haha just thought I would share this tidbit because I thought it was funny and nice to see our bishop has a sense of humor :)
-when I am about to leave the reception- I approach Bishop Estevez to say goodbye because I don't know when I will be seeing him again, and it's always nice to talk with him. Patrick Dancel ends up getting caught up in our conversation because I ran into him on the way so I naturally drag him with me. Bishop was so interested in our lives and wanting to get to know us better. We had our laughs. I have quotes from the conversation, but it won't make sense out of context, and it would be too long to explain so I'll post the quotes & you can ask me about it later if you're interested haha.
"Do you remember which friend I am talking about now? He is always with you." "Do you invite Patrick to the Liturgy of the Hours?" "I thought you were going to sing tonight!" Pat: "...Father...oh, I mean Bishop!"
I have a deeper respect and appreciation for Bishop Estevez because of tonight. Good moments. Great memories tonight. When you get the chance, introduce yourself to Bishop Estevez, I'm sure he would love to meet you. He is very approachable.
Continue to pray for him as he shepherds the people of the Diocese of St. Augustine.

P.S. Eucharistic Congress is March 8-9, 2013. You should go! Bishop Estevez highly encourages all of us to attend. Also, you will definitely have a chance to meet the bishop then for sure :)

PRAISE THE LORD!
I passed Orgo 1. I literally got the EXACT grade I needed on the final to pass. I know it's not the greatest grade, BUT I PASS! It was surely a way God was showing me that He provides whatever I need as long as I do my part. Even if I didn't pass though, I'm sure He would've guided me the right direction.
Now I'm determined to kickbutt in Orgo 2! but meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy my week break from schoolwork. and NO lab for the next 2 weeks! SAY WHAAA?! but i do enjoy orgo lab :)
Spending quality time with my family :) so many blessings that God has revealed and given to me. I'm starting to see part of His plans for my family unfold. All the struggles & sufferings we endured weren't for nothing.

Summer semester 2012
Organic chemistry...let's dance ;)
1st test tomorrow. WOO! almost done with this week then only 4 weeks left to go, say what?!!? then on to 6 weeks of orgo 2. yeeeah.
an overview
so this past spring semester was particularly a tough one. So many times I just wanted to quit & give up, but by the grace of God, I didn't and He provided for me. God is so loving and I'm so undeserving. I'm so thankful for the many blessings He put in my life. Especially all the love & support I received from my friends and family. My family was always supporting no matter what and always praying for me. It really helped me knowing that my family was 100% behind me and nothing but supportive & encouraging. My best friend & friends were always there for me. I was unfair to my best friend by having random break downs that he was unprepared for, but was there to do whatever he could. But the times where I was really consoled was when I just sat with Jesus & told Him everything I felt. Something about praying in front of the Blessed Sacrament just gives me peace in the midst of all the chaos I feel. He constantly reminds me that He is always with me & that what I do should be for His great glory.
One of my closest friends, discipler, & sister graduated this semester. One year earlier than expected. She inspires. She is my role model! I love her so much and I am so grateful that God placed her in my life. She helped bring me back to Christ. It saddens me that she won't be around anymore, but I know she's always there for me.
Now this one week break I have before summer classes has been an overabundance of blessings. I have gotten to spend time with my family. I have missed them so much. I didn't realize just how much I miss spending time with them until I came back and was just spoiled with family love :) I have been able to relax and not worry about anything and take time to thank God for everything. I even went to the beach with a friend. Got to catch up. I haven't been to the beach in like a whole year!!! Isn't that crazy?!!? Now I get to spend today with my family again and celebrating Mother's Day a little early since I have to leave for classes tomorrow. I'm happy.
Now as this summer really gets started, I look forward to what God has in store for me this summer. I know it's not going to be easy, and there may be many unexpected things, but wherever He leads me, I want to follow. I'm excited for this summer. My first summer classes at UF. My bestfriend is also going to be far away for 2 & 1/2 months :/ I am anxious, but I know with God, we'll be alright.
I wonder who I will encounter this summer. What I will experience this summer. I wish I could see the big picture that God has for me, but knowing that He has a plan for me is so wonderful.
I want to learn to love more like Jesus Christ. It's been on my heart lately.

The more I get hurt...
the more I love. Jesus breaks me over and over again just to make me new again. It hurts so much, but with great suffering comes greater joy. Lately I've definitely felt this. To a point where I just sit in front of the tabernacle and cry to Him, wanting to unite my sufferings with Him. God works in mysterious ways. I think the more and more this happens, the more I realize who I am and who I am trying to be. It's way tougher accepting who I am than who I'm trying to be. But who God wants me to be is who I want to be because I know that's when I will be happiest. I feel the key to all this is letting go of who I thought I was. Letting go is one of the hardest things to do, but I know with time, commitment, and His strength, that I can do it.

God knows where you will be, always. if you're sad, He' ll give you comfort; if you're lost, He says "come to me."
Thanks :) Yeah, my faith is what keeps me grounded in all of this. I know He has a plan for me (Jer 29:11), but now it's just a matter of fully trusting in Him which is the hard part.
I've gotten to a point...
where I just wanna give up. But if i give up then I won't know where to put myself. I'm scared of what is to happen, but I'm told "Do not be afraid." How do I change my emotions? Where am I suppose to be...?
