Of all the faces that have lived in my TV memories, Anthony Head has been there the longest — first when I was a child watching Buffy, and then again as a teen and young adult with Merlin, which became one of my happiest fandom spaces. Losing someone who has been woven into your "fandom life" for so long… it hits in a way that’s hard to explain. It feels like losing a piece of the joy, the comfort.
We had already lost Michelle and Nicholas from Buffy, and even though it hurt, there was a sense of time and distance that softened the blow. And with “Giles” gone, it feels like another little piece of that wonderful painting has faded.
But losing someone from the Merlin cast is different. That show still lives on my feed, in my thoughts, in the little rituals of my day. It’s not something distant or archived. Anthony as Uther will still live on in every fic I read, in every gif I reblog... Rest in peace you wonderful human being, thank you for the happy memories.
