The EPA seeks to undo clean water rule, putting 117 million Americans’ water at risk
On Tuesday, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers released a joint proposal to repeal the 2015 Clean Water Rule, an environmental protection law originally put in place in 1972 as the Clean Water Act, but codified by Obama in his second term.
The potential repeal could mark a success for President Donald Trump, who promised to repeal the rule during the 2016 presidential campaign.
However, it could also spell disaster for all Americans who enjoy drinkable tap water.
“If you don’t think twice about drinking water from the tap, you’re benefiting from the clean water rule,” Jamie Henn, cofounder of 350.org, a nonprofit fighting climate change, said in an interview. Read more (6/28/17)

HOW CAN ANYONE DEFEND THIS
It’s Not That Bad to F--- Up While Calling Your Senator About Something Important
I said “You’re, uh, a Senator, so, you’ve…..read the bill” and I’m OK
hi everybody! it’s lunch break and i’m calling my Senators in opposition to the cruel, stupid AHCA – a bill that literally takes money from poor and sick people and gives it to the portion of our population who are already obscenely, criminally rich.
(@derekcnel)
So I thought I would just liveblog/transcribe how that goes for me so you can see how unscary it is!!! I taped myself making these calls to make sure the transcription was accurate, though I will not include video since it includes personal info. And is embarrassing.
SENATOR 1, Democrat, has expressed strong opposition to AHCA
Line busy. Message machine urges me to send an email if I would like a response. Disconcerted by receiving instructions and by the fact that i’m taping myself, I leave the following sloppy, emotional message:
Hi, Sen. [Name], my name is [Rave Sashayed] and I’m a constituent from [place where I vote]. I certainly will send you an email as well, because I would love to get a response about what I can do as a constituent and a citizen. But I just wanted to reiterate how important it is to your constituents that you oppose the AHCA. It’s an incredibly stupid and cruel bill. I have friends who, without coverage for pre-existing conditions, will…die! They’ll die. Uhh……it’s – It’s mind-boggling to me that this is – that this is even in question. So um, I just really wanted to thank you for continuing to speak out against it and to throw my support and the support of my community behind you as you keep…doing….that. Thank you. Bye.
That was okay! The next one was…less good.
SENATOR 2, Democrat, has also expressed strong opposition to AHCA
