Don’t let that nigga rest.” She teased her friend as she playfully bumped into her and her face dropped slightly when the conversation turned serious. “You know you’re the first person to ask that.” She said with a small smile as she shrugged. “I’m good, when you do dumb shit they come with consequences, you know? That’s just life.” She remarked. “How are you? With everything that happened with G?”

Kodi’s jaw clenched in frustration as she gritted her teeth together. Though she was the one who was wrong in the situation, she somehow felt slighted at the moment. She aligned her vision with a random object in the backyard for a few seconds before she let her attention fall back on Jordan’s immensely handsome features. “I was there, and no that wasn’t a mistake. I knew what I was doing and you have every right to be mad about it.” She pointed out, as if he needed permission to be upset with her, she grew quiet for a few minutes, casting her attention down on her feet before looking up at him through her bountiful eyelashes. “It’s already taken care of, in case you cared.”

Kodi only chuckled when she was accused of trying to get Zuri drunk, which was her actual goal. She raised her eyebrows at the innuendo her friend made before she took another shot herself. “Look, G will thank me when your leg is behind your head later.” She said with a wink of her eye before watching Zuri taking the shots. “Ah, and you’re drinking brown? Now that was my bad.” She said as she realized the girl has mixed liquors. “Tell G that I’ll bill him later.” She teased.

Bringing the last of her numerous patron shots to her mouth, she immediately halted upon hearing the extremely familiar voice that sent a chill up her spine. She knocked the liquor back before turning around to face Jordan. An exasperated sigh escaped her lips as her orbs set on his. “Jordan...” She said simply, mentally constructed what to say next. “Don’t do this here.” She basically whispered to him. “That was a drunken mistake. It was never suppose to happen and you know that.”

“Zuri, get off the gas, with your pretty chocolate ass. I told Egypt earlier that I was gonna take G’s women on his birthday. How he get the the perfect duo? Not fair.” She said with a soft laugh as she grabbed a few shot glasses and began to fill them with tequila. “Of course, mamas. I wouldn’t miss it. Take these shots with me?” She asked as she began to down the small glasses full od hard liquor.

Though Kodi’s social battery was practically depleted, she promised Egypt and Zuri that she would come out for their boyfriend’s birthday and after it took her a while to get dressed, she knew she couldn’t backtrack on her commitment. “The first time I’m on time for something and it’s Genesis birthday. That’s crazy.” She laughed as she walked over to the stocked bar to make her a drink, knowing that she wouldn’t get through the night completely sober.

Kodi exhales dramatically as she nods and she works her way down to the middle of Egypt’s back, massaging the lotion into her bronzed skin. “I know girl, it’s a gift. I was a masseuse in my former life.” She remarked as her fingertips kneading into the girl’s dermis to create a layer of protection over her delicate organ. Her perfectly trimmed eyebrows furrowed as Egypt responded to her question, she nodded slowly as she grabbed the bottle of sunscreen and added more to her hands. “Sometimes it’s best just to stick with yourself for a while. Get recharged from all the drama and bullshit. That’s the wave I’m currently on.” She replied, as she moved on to the back of her friends legs. “I must really love your ass. You got these white people thinking we a lesbian couple.”

“I can attest to that fact. You know I’ve made some horrible decisions after you’ve given me good advice...horrible.” She reiterated as she reached over and she placed her hand on her friend’s shoulder to hone her statement. Kodi couldn’t hold back the inevitable smile that played on her lips when Egypt joked about why she lacked sun screen before she reached down in her back and pulled out her own personal bottle. “You know I keep a bag with me that got everything in it.” Before she could respond to the inquiry, Egypt was already on her stomach causing Kodi to laugh loudly. “You’re annoying. At least untie the top.” Opening the top of the sunscreen, she placed a generous amount in her hand and she stood up, warming up the substance before rubbing it along the females petite back in slow circles to make sure she gets every piece of skin so she won’t burn. “How you been, E? You been quiet.”

Kodi kisses her teeth dramatically as her head tilted off to the side, keeping her deep brown orbs on Egypt’s slightly lighter irises. “I don’t care about his birthday! I ain’t birth ‘em.” She says with a playful mug written across her face as she lays back against the pool furniture, rubbing her hands up and down her golden brown skin. “Ah, y’all were on all white people, zombie island shit? No thanks, not for me.” Theatrically, she brought her sunglasses back to her face and slid them onto her nose to shield her eyes from the beaming rays of the sun. “I hope they let me stay since I wasn’t part of the shenanigans. I might just move out here cause I’m in love. Do you have sunscreen on?” She asked Egypt randomly. “I can’t have you leaving me looking like Freddy Krueger. They gonna be hunting you next.”

Upon hearing the familiar voice, Kodi opened one of her eyes and sat up from her laying position, taking the blacked out designer frames off of her face as she looks up at the beauty and smiles. Though she had been enjoying her own company, she knew that Egypt would lighten her mood. “You wanna talk about disrespect but you come out here looking like this!?” Using the sunglasses in her hands, she motions up and down to signify that she’s mentioning how good the woman looks in her swimwear. “Where is Genesis? I’m gonna beat his ass and take his women for once and for all.” She teased. “And I had work yesterday, so I just caught a later flight. What did I miss other than you?”

When Kodi has finally woken from her stupor caused by the extreme hangover she had, the sound of constant vibration from her phone further brought her to awareness. There was a plethora of messages from a myriad of different platforms. She could only get the gist of what most people were saying in the comments, but there was one word she couldn’t deny — “married.” The confusion was written all over her face as she finally followed a link to the TMZ article that everyone was alluding to. “What the fuck!?” She yelled out, as her stomach seemingly dropped out out her abdomen to her feet. “We didn’t get fucking married.” It sounded like she was trying to convince herself of that reality more than anyone else, although she couldn’t exactly remember the night beyond the two of them deciding to play a friendly game of blackjack in the casino. “No, no, no.” Her one night trip with Dallas was suppose to be stringless, they were suppose to have a good time in a different city and come back to their normal lives and now nothing would ever be the same again, even if the legitimacy of the gossip was in question. Not to mention how Jordan felt, especially since their argument had only happened a few days ago and now everything she had said to him seemed invalid. A platonic trip between two new friends had taken a drastic turn and she was not ready for the upcoming chain of consequences.
