I made split pea soup and it is delicious and cheap, so I’m sharing the recipe with you :D
Recipe below cut:
Ingredients:
For stock:
1 ham bone or ham shank
1 bay leaf
Enough water to fill a 6 qt slow cooker
For soup:
Stock, from above
Ham pulled from ham bone/shank
1 medium onion, chopped
3-4 carrots, chopped
1 lb split peas, rinsed and sorted
2-3 Tbsp minced garlic
1 teaspoon pepper
To make the stock:
Add stock ingredients to a 6 qt slow cooker the day before you want to make the soup. Cook on medium or low for 8-12 hours. That evening, strain out the ham from the stock. Put the stock in the fridge. Pull meat from ham bone and dice up into chunks.
To make the soup:
Take the cooled stock and strain off the fat (it should have congealed on the top). Add all ingredients except the ham to the slow cooker, and cook on medium for 6-8 hours (low 8+ hours, high 4-6 hours) until the peas disintegrate. Add ham in the last hour or half hour of cooking.
*Note! The ham is very salty already, so you should definitely taste the soup before adding any salt.
Costs about $7-$10, makes 6 quarts (or 24 cups), so about 12 adult sized servings per recipe. So, the cost per serving is $0.58-$0.83, depending on how much food costs in your area.
Note: Missing from this picture are 4 bananas, 1 P3 Protein Pack, and 3 more of the jumbo sodas (in the bottom right)
I got everything pictured here (including clearance candy!) for just under $54. Here’s what I bought:

I did this deal (3) times so far, and I have more coupons to do it more, but Dollar Tree’s couponing policy is that they only accept up to 2 printed coupons per day per household. Then, at Walgreens, we picked up 3 of the 10 cent folders and one of the $0.69 double roll of Scotch Tape.
Overall, (without the extra ECBs), we only spent about $10 on everything pictured here, but considering all the free ECBs we had, this was actually a $3 moneymaker for us. Considering that the original retail price of everything pictured here was $50, even spending $10 was a savings of 80%.
I quick stopped at CVS and picked up the 1.5 oz Kit Kat bar (Savingstar Freebie), and then I went to Cub.

So, my final total was $6.89, or $0.86 an item. (This would’ve been a better deal if Doritos had been part of the 2/$5 sale, as I had a $1/(2) Doritos coupon, which would’ve brought my total to $5.89, or $0.74 an item)
Overall, I paid $11.05 for everything pictured here. At a retail cost of nearly $30, I saved just over 60%.
General consensus seems to be that Prime Day was a flop, but everything I wanted to be on sale was on sale, and i spent a whopping $100 total on a fire stick, LED light bulbs, clothes dryer balls, and a 7-in-1 instapot. Considering that was a lot of stuff I wanted/needed for my apartment, I'm pretty happy. Not to mention, it was a great use of my accumulating gift card balance thanks to programs like Bing Rewards and mPoints, and I used the 6-month trial for students, so I didn't even have to pay for a membership.

Overall, I spent $34.50 at all three stores, and I ended with a $5 gift card, meaning I spent just $29.50 for everything pictured. That makes each item about $1.97 a piece, which is a great purchase price for 11.62 lbs of meat+the other 11 items. At an original cost of over $63, this was a savings of at least 54%!
