Testimony: The one ON MUTE
The 9th of July had never been more painful.
I've spend the whole day without saying a single word (from 6AM until midnight). Mouth shut. Obviously it was very difficult to me, a person who talks more than the usual, and mostly nonsense & unnecessary stuff. Being on mute proved to me that we really don't pay attention to everyone one is saying, we tend to finish their phrases even before they stop putting it out of their mouths. Hence, on mute, I could truly hear & understand what people were saying, whitout having my own voice to interrupt.
Sometimes it was really, really hard not to talk, so I quickly took my iPad and write what I wanted to say. At the beginning I wrote long sentences, filled up to the top with useless information... After 5 hours on mute, I realised what was substantial and what was stupidity, then my sentences became shorter, and I stopped using the iPad every single second. I started miming. And that went on and on.
That experience taught me not to overtalk, not to throw my words right on people's words. Now I've realised the necessity of the silence, of the waiting. Now I can stop for a second before I finally answer a question or give my opinion on something, and so much more. Some things I've learned yesterday, they simply cannot be explained, because they changed deep inside of me, and I am glad, because yesterday may have been painful, but it was really worth it.
A petite Charlie story
Once upon a time...
In an island far (a lott) away...
There were six young and sweet coconuts right there next to the ocean.
Four of them were on the sand, feeling the sun on their faces, waiting for the moment when something would finally change, the sky would turn bluer & the waves would at last take them away from there. All they ever wanted was to travel around the world.
The other two coconuts, well, they were still up there in the coconut palms. Of all the six, they two were the only ones who had not fallen yet. Maybe they were too young.
Time passed, and nothing changed. The waves were constantly hitting the sand, splitting in the four green-and-brown coconuts in the sand, and then going away.
"I wish I could be like these waves" cried one of the coconuts, next getting surprised by its own voice, which sounded odd. It had never talked before.
"Me too!" everyone agreed as one. Including the two little ones up there in the palm trees.
Time passed again, and nothing changed. Except for the fact that now they knew they could talk.
"I just can't wait to fall!" said the tiniest one hanging up there.
"Me too. Everyone have already fallen, and we're still up here." the other tiny answered.
Time passed, and nothing changed.
And then came the winter.
It was a cold night when the first lighting stroke the sky. The might waves now were scared, they waved fast & hard, hitting the sand, hitting the palm trees, getting the six coconuts all worried. They soon started panicking, trying to move themselves somehow, but they simply could not. Finally the sky turned really dark & he cried, big and heavy tears, and he also blew the clouds, and the wind which came out from his mouth shook the palm trees so hard that the two young coconuts fell on the sand.
"Oh!" they shocked.
"We're finally down!" yelled the less tiny.
The next seconds were precious. All the six coconuts laughed, and felt really happy for the fall, but it did not took a long time for the waves to angrily hit them & take them into the brave ocean.
They all got desperate, they were being kept apart. They tried touching each other's tiny coconut hands, and holding them, but they could not. The waves were too strong, and they were taking the six coconut friends away and away and away...
After the storm, it came the sun. The waves were pretty calmed down by that time, and one of the coconuts saw something ahead.
"Look! There is a beach right there!" it said, trying to swim, waving its tiny arms and legs.
"Let us hold on to each other and ask the waves to take us there." suggested another one.
"Let us go!" they said together.
And the waves did what they asked them for.
The six coconuts then reached the sand once again. They were all so cheered up, they talked uncontrollably about no one understood what, but they were bright. Finally they could feel like the waves. They travelled the ocean, and no one could ever doubt that they were not simple coconuts. They were in an adventure. They were, above all, living the life they've always dreamed of.
Next one of them realised that there were people on the beach, walking around, playing with balls, having ice creams... But the coconut friends were stuck in the sand. Their tiny legs could not walk in the sand.
"We are screwed!" said one of them.
"No, we cannot!" said another one.
"We have to get out of here." cried the one wearing sunglasses.
"Try jumping!" suggested someone.
"I guess we can fly, coconuts." suddenly said the tiniest one.
"We are coconuts. We can't fly! Can... We?" the less tiny wondered.
"Can we, tiny one?" the other four coconuts asked together.
"Oh, sure! Just try it, okay?" the tiniest coconut said as it soared in the air, moving away above the sand floor.
And all the other coconuts flew away with the tiniest. The one who thought they were screwed laughed a lot, and it stopped flying. "Let us walk now, everyone. Look around, there are city lights and cars and so much for us to see." it said.
Then they walked and walked and talked and talked and they realised that people were starring at them, and they were snapping pictures of them coconuts. And the human kids were looking amazed... As soon as everyone noticed the coconuts, they ran away, laughing at the humans and hiding themselves from the crowds. It was being really fun, they thought.
Time passed, and they didn't know exactly what to do. But maybe the universe knew. The one who suggested jumping had seen a colourful huge building. "hey, everyone. What is this? Let us step in!" and it crossed the purple door.
It was a karaoke club. Everything inside it was too colourfully impossible to describe & too magically impossible to exist, so we (human-beings) can only imagine it, but I assure you everything in this story is true. As soon as the coconuts ended up singing all the songs they knew, they simply left the karaoke club, and disappeared in the Japanese street, and I didn't hear from them anymore. But some people say that they are still there, walking and talking and flying. It is a pity that no one knows the truth about where are they now,
To the wonderful people I've came to know through Twitter
Recently & eventually it happened to me that I just met some special and wonderful and unique people through Twitter, and I guess I may have realised some things since then. First, it is really unexpected and incredible how a completely unknown person can become so dear & close in just a few days, and also living in another country. (It makes me think that we are, yes, all connected together by an invisible line, a knot that will always remain and keep us one). Second, this caring & love I feel for these people it is not something I feel because I want another something back. It is free, after all. It does not matter if they do not feel the same way, it does not matter if they feel the opposite neither! What matters is only that I am happy for having them to love, for giving them all my loving. (But, of course, it would be so much happier if they do felt the same way, I guess). Third, they inspire me. And inspiration is far one of the most important things in life, because without any inspiration, how can we ever go on? They inspire me by simply saying "oh, have a nice day", because I kind of know they mean it. They really do want me to have a nice day. (If they don't, oh, they are really tricking me well). Fourth (and the last thing I am listing), they completely do make me feel part of something. Their love, their warmth, their words, their everything make me know that I belong somewhere. I am not living alone, being a part of nothing in particular, existing only for now and leaving nothing good in here. No. They are constantly making me see I am important, I do have a big role in this world, and it is up to me making it even bigger. And I love them. I truly love them by heart. And no matter the time, no matter the distance, no matter if we ever split apart, never talk again, never even think about each other again, I am going to have them here, in the deepest place inside my heart, because they are important to me. And if you are one of these people, and you are reading this, thank you.
With love, Hannah.
P.S.: Please ignore any English mistake of mine.
Charlie Challenge: Day 30 I am going to spend most of my summer's time inside my bedroom reading books, drawing, painting, using my iPad... But, of course, sometimes I am going to go out, see a movie, walk around, lay down on the grass, feel the sun, go to the beach... Whatever. The truth is everything can happen. It will be summertime. And things change at summertime. x Hannah P.S.: doing the Charlie Challenge was a very inspiring experience for me. It made me discover myself more and more each day, and keep in touch with my inner self, which is filled with lots of skills I may have not known. Another thing was that I may have made some friends that will stay with me during all my life. It's not that I met new people, but I could come to know a little about lots of, and it is something that is now a part of me. Their experiences & thoughts helped me somehow and brightened my day a little. Thank you, YM&C Team, for providing me this amazing & unique experience. :)
Charlie Challenge: Day 29 It was very hard to build a fortress in one minute. I just got home and I am going to sleep now. I've had to put off my make up & take a shower & build it... It was crazy, but the inside is like this. There are sandals, shoes, iPad, e-reader, guitar... Stuff. It's crazy. x Hannah
Charlie Challenge: Day 28
I found a bakery equipements ad. It was a really big one, so the story is going to be short. Because behind the big guys there is always a tiny one. Simple as it seems, Mr. & Mrs.' Bagel little baby was very hungry. But the problem about it was not that he was hungry at all, but it was that there wasn't nobody home. And when there wasn't nobody home everything could happen, specially if the kid is some kind of trouty-mouth-eater. And there was that number one rule which said "NEVER EVER NEVER LEAVE THE KID ALONE AT HOME, SPECIALLY WHEN THE BAKERY'S BASEMENT DOOR IS OPEN", but the older kid forgot about this warning and left home willing to go to his friend's house. It would be nice; and so it was. But... When everyone got back home... Uh-oh... The tiny one had eaten all the bread dough that would be used to prepare the stuff for the bakery. And there they were: without a single piece of dough left. It would not have been a problem if the kid did not have eat all the tools, too. Now they could not make even a single bread. All the stuff from the bakery would be useless as they didn't have any money left to restore the stock. The only solution was to put everything out for sale at the ads. :( x Hannah
Charlie Challenge: Day 27 Okay. As YM&C Team was not that creative about this prompt, neither did I. Not that I didn't want to be creative, but it is only that had never ever being to a concert/show... Whatever. But there is this one event I do love the most. It is called SiNUS. And it is a model of UN, a simulation, as you may know, of UN's committees & stuff. Well, I've been there two times (it would have be three, if some things had being perfect as they didn't) and my favourite time it was on 2010. There we received a little souvenir (this thing on the picture) and I use it as a bookmarker. It may sound stupid but it is nice. On the back (the other side) of it, we can discover what is SiNUS all about. There there is: SiNUS. f.n. 1. Intelligent people assembly willing to discuss important things. 2. Place where you can make friends for all your life. 3. International organisations emulation on purpose of wolrd's salvation. 4. A possible place where you can meet your boyfriend/girlfriend. 5. Period of putting into practice your oratory & negotiation skills. 6. Important experience for your professional life. 7. Decisive influency for you to choose your universitaria course. 8. The best non-alcooholic parties on Earth. 9. Simulação das Nações Unidas para Secundaristas (what means "UN Simulation for High School students") x Hannah
Charlie Challenge: Day 26 The window on the left shows my actual view. The blue sky is filled with orange due to the houses' roofs. Stupidly tedious & ugly, plus my window's glasses make me feel inside a prison, as I would never be really free. The window on the right it shows what I would like to see the most. The blue sky turns the view a little too dark, but the lighthouse and the moon make the illumination job, and so do the yellow-coloured soft sand, which touches the lighty blue ocean. It makes me feel free & lonely, but not sad. This window has no glasses nor any other thing to keep it locked. I would like to keep it open. x Hannah
Charlie Challenge: Day 25
When I read the prompt, I already knew what I would be drawing. This art was inspired by an amazing & lovely & touching story that I've read called "Juniper's Knot". It is simply fantastic. I loved it and I was willing to show how much I got transformed by what I've experienced.
x Hannah
Charlie Challenge: Day 24 The prompt says "share a photo of one of your family members that reflects where you came from", but I didn't think automatically about another member of my family that is not myself. "Where I came from" it didn't feel like a place or culture or anything, it only felt like "that made me what I am today" or something like this. And this is why I chose a picture of mine. This is I. When I as a kid, when I only thought about, well... I don't know what I'd thought about. But this is where I came from. This is my beginning and what I am proud of had being. I was a wonderful kid even if I had had lots of problems liked personality & health, as my strabism (what got me into two surgeries). This is what I once was and what I still am and what I long o be in my inside. I will never ever lose that little Hannah right here. :) x Hannah
Charlie Challenge: Day 23
Five ACTION steps that I can make towards my dream? And I must commit to taking this steps by this time next month? Hm. Thinking my brain out... a) First, I got to keep in mind that I still have to wait a lot for what is to come b) Secondly, keep logging into THAT website, so there is no way I am going to break out the deadline c) Thirdly, keep my head held high & don't care about what they are going to say. I'm not giving up the first choice, only putting it onto the shelf d) Fourthly, save all the money I get e) Lastly, don't cry. Never-ever-never x Hannah
Charlie Challenge: Day 21 I don't know how to explain why all these words came to me, but I know how they came. I guess they can speak a lot about me, anyway. :) x Hannah
Charlie Challenge: Day 20 Something to make me remember of myself & that I would be able to transport with me everywhere I would go? It was kind of hard to think about something, actually. But I chose to make this little person with a scarlet pair of shoes, so I could put my keys on it, or a small storage device... Whatever. Why does it remind me? Simple. It is kind of weird, hand-made, full of flaws & cracks, but it is unique and special. I know I am special someway, somehow, to someone. Even it is only for me. :) x Hannah To make this funny item, I used old earphones, colouring ink & some metal pieces.
Charlie Challenge: Day 19
Well, actually, I have chose the back-right door of my mom's car as the door I would walk out from. I took ten steps to the right, and it got me next to my mom's front garden. It is one of my favourite places here at my momentaneous house, so I guess it is pretty important to registrate that simple-but-nice garden.
x Hannah
Charlie Challenge: Day 18
Here it goes my loveletter adressed to myself.
First of all, I wanted to say that I love you so much. Your green eyes remind me of the green green grass of my favourite Brazilian town when it rains, around April, when it's cold & cloudy. I'm not saying your eyes may turn to my mind some kind of a grey memory, but a beautiful one. I don't like rainy days a lot, you know it, but I do love Brasília's rainy days. Uh, I love your smile, it makes me feel like I'm flying, like I can do whatever I want to do, even if I wanted to be a unicorn or a fairy or a dwarf I could because your smile has a strengh that I cannot find anywhere else. I know you had used braces for almost two years, and I know that you're putting some other kind of braces again because your front teeth are one a little bigger than the other, but I find it really pretty. Pretty & funny, if you permit me to say. I also love your lips. Okay, that may have sounded pretty weird, but I do love them. They're as reddy and as rosy as a little lovely cherry, and knowing you love cherries makes this comparison even more beautiful. Putting appearance aside, the thing I love the most about you (not to say "entirely you" or "you entire", I must choose something) is your personality. That was cliche, I do know. But it is true. I love the way you as sincere & funny in your own way. Sometimes people can't know if you meant it or if you did not. You can be mysterious and crystal clear. You can be hard & kind. It is so good the way you look at others and make they feel like they are the only thing in the world when you guys are chatting. It is very colourful the way you touch & mess your own hair, like you are arranging it so it can be pretty, which is the Hannah word for "good". Well, I could write, write & write another tons of things trying to explain why I love you so much but it would be useless, because it is someting you only can feel. Knowing that I love you is only a single part of the entire thing that I being loved by me. And now I would like to finish this loveletter by saying that I love everything about you.
x Hannah
Okay. I know that loveletter was a little-bit-too-much stupid, maybe, but I didn't want to spoil my feelings for me as I wrote that, so I hope you guys (if anyone is really going to ready this) can understand.
Charlie Challenge: Day 17 Uh, well, actually, I have always thought of my life with lots & lots of songs as its soundtrack. I didn't want to put down here all these songs, so I've had to choose only one, and it was pretty hard, I confess. I chose this song (Get me away from here, I'm dying) by Belle & Sebastian because it is one of that songs I loved since the first time I heard. It was love at first sight. Its lyrics have everything to do with me. I enjoy life a lot, I always smile, but there are times when I get really bored, when only a song can make me better. And this is it what this song is about. It is about being unique & being at a place where you don't belong, so you need to let love into your heart & listen to your favourite song & smile & forget about that sad faces at the street. You need to get away to a place where you can feel free, to your Dream Land, to anywhere but where you're at. x Hannah I know I don't write things with a fully nex, but I swear I can get it & I swear I mean what I write. I hope you all can understand. :)
