You know, every time I listen to Keith’s answer after Acxa’s iconic “And it led me to you…”, I just can’t keep a straight face, lol. 

That small pause over there, after the “Thank you…”? I know people might say 'Hey, he is just politely thanking her…nothing more than that.’

But to me, it is downright funny. (Yeah, I am a die-hard Keith x Acxa shipper and I can’t help but explore every little nuance in this particular scene.)

This guy is experiencing a situation many of us might have experienced irl: when a person you had a crush on for the longest time (is it three years for him?) suddenly confesses like – 'By the way, you know what, I have been in love with you ever since we met.’

Immediately, your brain leaves a “GONE FOR LUNCH, BE BACK SOON” card on the table and disappears. You are left to fend for yourself, so you end up blurting out whatever comes to your mouth. ‘Look, the sky is blue today.’ or ‘Did you know tigers have stripes?’ etc. etc. 

Something similar is going on with Keith here. My headcanon is that he had been practicing his thank you speech when she was telling her story. (If you watch this scene, he had been staring thoughtfully into the fire the entire time.) 

But then comes the sudden confession. As (un)expected, he blurts out the “thank you” he had practicing over and over in his mind. His mental conversation might have been something like: 

Thank you…and now what? Thank you…for trusting me? Thank you…for saying this? Thank you…for joining us? Thank you…I love you too? (Not so fast, Keith, not so fast)

Finally, he settles on the least scandalous and most formal of everything he could have said. (And as you can see, it bears no connection to whatever she said) I am pretty sure the expression on his face in this moment is merely the tip of the iceberg of whatever was going on inside him. Inside, probably, a dozen tiny Keiths were having a cake party and throwing confetti all around.  

Also, I can totally bet the poor guy was dying to somehow get rid of the huge audience around them so that he could have some alone time with her. Hunk could have helped you, Keith. Unfortunately, you suck at the art of subtle signalling. Remember: Vol- tron?
