The relationship between the creators and the puppets is a complicated one. Looking at it from the puppets point of view, you might imagine they have an inner life and they live in their world and everything that happens outside goes so quickly relative to the speed they live that they can’t really see it. We might be caught in the corner of their eye as something sort of flitting by much faster than a humming bird. They might feel fingers sort of touching them at times. They might have an uncomfortable sense of being confined, being controlled. If you were a puppet and you were aware, you’d have to enjoy the process of getting endless attention or you wouldn’t cut it as a puppet actor in one of the films.
- Henry Selick, Director of Coraline on the POV of a stop motion puppet
“I don’t care if you’re black, white, straight, bisexual, gay, lesbian, short, tall, fat, skinny, rich or poor. If you’re nice to me, I’ll be nice to you. Simple as that.”
Eminem (via psych-facts)
Once, Picasso was asked what his paintings meant. He said, “Do you ever know what the birds are singing? You don’t. But you listen to them anyway.” So, sometimes with art, it is important just to look.

I love that word. Forever. I love that forever doesn’t exist, but we have a word for it anyway, and use it all the time. It’s beautiful and doomed.
Viv Albertine (via a-thousand-words)
No sympathy for rapists, no sympathy for abusers, no sympathy for those who side with them. No excuses for their behavior, no justifications, no exceptions.
Man is defined as a human being and woman is defined as a female. Whenever she tries to behave as a human being she is accused of trying to emulate the male.
Simone de Beauvoir, The Second Sex (1949)

Everyone who terrifies you is sixty-five percent water. And everyone you love is made of stardust, and I know sometimes you cannot even breathe deeply, and the night sky is no home, and you have cried yourself to sleep enough times that you are down to your last two percent, but
nothing is infinite, not even loss.
You are made of the sea and the stars, and one day you are going to find yourself again.
