“That is true.” Char agreed with a solemn nod. On the flip side, Char’s parents rarely called to check in. Her father was still disappointed that Char had chosen to pursue photography instead of something ‘worthy of a St. James’, while her mother didn’t want to make him any angrier. It stung, but it was nothing Char wasn’t used to. “Your mom is like, the biggest mom to ever mom. I think she’s just mom to the universe at this point.”

"Is it weird being away from home? Or are you more relieved because they were so terrible?" Kelly hoped that Char would be able to heal. Find happiness and peace without her parents over her shoulder. But Kelly knew it would be a long process. "She has got the super-mom act down. Can be overbearing at times but I won't complain. She is there when it counts."

“Whoaaaa, tempting offer. It’s a deal.” Char grinned. “Seriously, how do we always end up eating so much?”

“Thank you! I hate the dishes. Actually hate isn’t a strong enough word. Not for any particular reason but I’d much rather do laundry.” Kelly was relieved her offer was accepted. When she lived with her family no one ever wanted to trade especially after Drew moved. Living away from her parents was a huge change but Kelly thought Char and her were adjusting well. “Because there is too much good food. Especially with my mom constantly sending dinners over and leftovers from take-out.”

As he saw her face crack a smile after her statement, he also let out a chuckle. He watched her pat the empty space beside her and got up to sit down next to her. “Better?” He asked with a grin. “It’s a rough start definitely, but I’m performing more. Which I’m actually liking- I didn’t think I would.”

"Much better." Kelly smirked. They were close enough now that the slightest shift would cause their knees to touch. It felt comfortable, being around Clark always felt that way. "Performing in front of actual crowds does require stepping out of a comfort zone. But I knew you were a natural from the first show I went to. All you needed is practice to make it perfect. Are you going to tour soon or get into the studio before you try that?"

“You know I never knew you were into the beard,” he said sitting on the chair near her bed. Clark didn’t know how appropriate it would be for him to just crawl into her bed. “But does this mean if I shave you are gonna disappear for real?”

"You're way too far from me." Kelly moved a few inches towards the edge of her bed and patted the spot next to her. "So how is the music biz treating you? Better than Target I’m sure."
