I am very strong and very opinionated. My ‘no’ means ‘no’, my 'yes’ means 'yes’. I’m not negotiating certain things. I don’t feel like I have to become something I’m not.
Full Name: Kendall Marie Grey
Age & Birthdate: 25 years old, born on May 8, 1990
Place of Birth: New York City, New York, USA
Occupation: Student, waitress, volunteer
Face Claim: Shelley Hennig
So, Kendall. What was your childhood like? And how’s your relationship with you family now?
Kendall shrugged, a half-hearted, one shoulder kind of move that paired well with the pursed lip pout her lips had curved in to. “It was – I don’t know. It was good, great really. I learned how to ride my bike in Central Park and I brought my dog for show and tell. It was, normal, you know? But my mom - she’s the greatest. Literally, she’s my best friend. But I didn’t, I don’t really know my dad.” Kendall’s voice drifted off as she shifted in her seat, uncomfortable with any mention of her absent father. “He walked out on us when I was a kid. It’s just been me and mom for as long as I can remember… she’s awesome.”
Right, well, how did you say you ended up in Seattle?
Nostalgia brought a small smile to Kendall’s face, one that lit up at the next question, and she grinned. “School. I’m studying to be a lawyer, you know? Mom’s a doctor and she saves lives, it’s kind of a lot to live up to.” She shrugged. “I got accepted in to S.U and UCLA but, something about Seattle reminded me of home so…”
Okay, thanks. Now – how would you say your friends would describe you to someone who didn’t know you?
At this, she laughed, looking away momentarily as she wrung her hands together in her lap, nervous. “I don’t know, I don’t really have a lot of time for friends. I mean, I have co-workers and project partners – there’s a boy in my Ethic’s class I… he’s cute, you know? But friends? I don’t know… I’ve been told I’m quiet before – does that count?”
Alright. Lastly, what’s your greatest ambition versus your greatest fear?
Kendall blinked, staring at the interviewer with a small frown on her face and drifting eyes. She thought, trying hard to think of what her ambition could be – she already knew her fear. She’d been scared of the dark since she stopped sleeping with a nightlight but, that was different. That gut wrenching, heart stopping, make your palms sweat kind of fear they’re talking about… that was reserved for her father. “I –” she hesitated. “I want to make a difference, be important. I want to be someone people look up to, like my mom.” And she smiled. “I want to make her proud.” Ignoring the second part of the interviewers question, Kendall licked her lips and cleared her throat. “Is that it? It’s just, I have a paper due next week and I really need to get ready for work… can I go?”
Where would you like to see this character go in the roleplay?
I’m not very good at answering this question in applications because I don’t plot very often. I’ll outline a basic idea and then work off that - I prefer to wing threads over plotting every detail out. I feel the same way with characters I apply for. I have no way of knowing where Kendall will go or what will become of her. I’d like for her to find out about the supernatural world eventually, but beyond that, I don’t know. I’m the ‘cross that bridge when we come to it’ kind of roleplayer.
This character is played by Lara in AEST.
