āHot cup of tea, itās four o'clock in the middle of the night, and I canāt sleep. Itās all on the peak, so bad I can taste it while it eats me.ā
FULL NAME: Kenneth Montgomery.
OCCUPATION: Performer at Shenanigans / Drug Dealer.
FACE CLAIM: Brendon Urie.
Kenneth Montgomery was only 16 when his dad was declared brain dead on the way to the hospital after being hit by a drunk driver. His home life, until his life was flipped upside down, was anything but stable. He grew up in Washington D.C.; his dad working at the National Zoo, Kenneth never missing a day of school, and the missing spot of a mother, a mother who died of lung cancer in his 7th grade year. Kenneth worked after school at the gas station down the road, knowing he needed to look forward to getting out of the house and support his dad, but when the accident happened, he looked into a higher paying job, something to support himself living alone so he wouldnāt have to go into foster care. The following days were spent alone, festering anger and resentment at the world for taking his family, crying in their home, calling in to school as his father and excusing his own absence. Heād be āvisiting familyā until Monday.
A week after not showing up at school after the accident, Kenneth met his best friendās drug dealer for the first time ā a girl with short, jet black hair and brilliant green eyes, cheeks that screamed kiss me and pale skin so perfect it was like art. She was everything he ever wanted. He knew he had to have her, he had to make her need him. And in meeting Kenneth, he found a new resolution inside of himself to never let another loss hurt him ā heād distance himself far enough from the situation to still show he was there, but not show that he was playing the whole world like it was his game, and everybody else were just pawns he could manipulate in his favor. The plan worked out brilliantly for him ā he never got hurt, and he was always indulging in something new.
For Denae, her life was hell. She was spending nights at his house, waking up to an empty bed, never knowing if heād come back home to her or if heād stay out all day, entertaining others, never with her for more than a passing glance, sharing skin for the night, maybe a conversation over a few bong hits, enjoying the weather on the patio. But always promising her the world ā and thatās why she could never tell herself to do better. She believed Kenneth, fell for his empty promises because they sounded so nice and sincere, but so did his āIām sorryāās and his āWeāre just friendsāās, and there wasnāt anything she could do but wait and see if he came back to his place that night. Denae was splitting her job with him now, seeing the long hours he was working at the gas station ā she had to make a choice between her work and her love life, and leaving it behind and going at it alone all over again.
Kenneth spent the last month of his relationship with Denae simply growing bored of her ā he would hate to hear her voice, get disappointed when he came home and it wasnāt empty. At 19, he was cynical, he was done with playing around, he needed to leave the place that was nothing but bad memories for him. Bad memories of an incomplete family picture and bad memories of lusting after a girl he couldnāt give anything to. He finally broke up with her after telling her he was moving to California, explaining that he just needed a new place to begin, and that maybe it was best if she let him go and not contact him after he finally moved.
The whole road trip to Cali was full of him screaming the words to angry music, releasing his pent up rage of three years of being an arrogant, deceiving bastard, and knowing he couldnāt change this late. He had based his whole life after his fatherās death on spitting at the world, and now he was dealing drugs for a living, hurting innocent people with his stupid decisions, and acting like nothing was wrong with him when he stuffed his feelings either inside of a blunt wrap or deep inside of another girl he was with. Nothingās wrong with you until youāre alone, nothing to suffocate your bad feelings. He stayed there for 7 years, flying under the radar as a bar musician, but still selling to a network of people in the area. Kenneth was⦠content, but only with his situation. He was at great unrest with himself, knowing for years that this wasnāt where he belonged. When someone he had grown to be friends with online sent him a fantastic deal on the apartment a floor above him, he took their offer as soon as he could, packing up and moving out again to Seattle, and finally finding some peace. Kenneth knew he could never change his manipulative, rude behavior, but maybe he could find something ā or someone ā to help him change into the person he was meant to be.
Kenneth, before the accident, was a shy, but very personable, loving person. Once he met Denae, his shyness faded away ā but so did his empathy. Heās very evasive of commitment ā wonāt settle down, wonāt keep a 9 to 5 job. Kenneth is fantastic at handling his emotions ā no matter what heās feeling, heās got control of it, and he can fake out the best. However, if youāre close to him, or really pissing him off, thatās when his real emotions come out, and heās a very in-your-face person when heās mad, but very distant and needing of reassurance when he really gives a damn. All around, heās as much of a player as it gets, but he can be a good friend if youāre looking for someone to just brighten your day with their humor and spontaneity⦠and access to practically whatever youāre looking to get high on. Kenneth can prescribe you with love, speed, or a calm as euphoric as a clear night sky, and he does it with a smile on his face. Itās a sneaky job, sure, but itās what he enjoys ā especially sampling his own products when he needs to drown his own demons.
+Ā goofy, honest, loyal, born leader.
- arrogant, fears commitment, player, tbd.
Tan, dark, handsome, and⦠goofy? Kenneth is dressed every day with the intention of looking damn good, but his goofy smile and forehead give him a sweetheart look, no matter how he dresses. Heās not the tallest man around ā at 5ā9ā, he barely towers over the refrigerator, let alone most other guys his age, but he finds it endearing when people donāt remark about his height. He dresses especially well the nights he plays at the bar ā button up shirt rolled to show his tattoo, suspenders, black pants, and even a bit of black eyeliner, knowing he can pull it off, and not really giving a damn what people think about it.
Kenneth plays guitar, but he either plays for a group or not at all. Heās never played for a singular person. The walls he builds up when he performs for a group fall, and heās not ready to let go of his barrier and mess up in front of someone.
Brought both his mother and fatherās wedding bands with him when he moved. He plans to keep them for as long as he can, to be buried with them. Sometimes, though, just to mess with strangers, heāll wear his fatherās.
Kenneth has a 3 year old German Shepherd named Mowgli.
The friend who introduced him to Denae fell out of contact with him shortly after he graduated, knowing what kind of person he had turned into, and how he treated her. Kenneth misses him greatly and often considers calling him, but he knows he hasnāt changed.
Medical school was a possible idea for Kenneth, thinking about quitting it all right at the end of high school and going to college (and with a 4.2 gpa, that was no challenge for him), but he was so addicted to Denae and living his life on the fun side that he never chased it, and instead went into playing music.
