Long ago, on planet Kerbal, a perfectly serviceable plane was made to carry more fuel. More fuel than it could handle. More fuel than any plane should handle. But it also had to get rid of the empty tanks.

Bravery and self sacrifice...  Sonbrett Kerman was such a kerbal and this is such a story.

My space bus is loaded and ready to deliver the Kerbals to their new home in orbit.

Getting 8 Kerbals from the runway to the launch pad in one electrically powered vehicle.

Then loading them all in a rocket.

Land speeder and refueling module

Getting the speeder into space was hard since I tried to use a shuttle type launch. But since it's not possible to vector the thrust through the center of mass constantly, it would start tumbling after some fuel was used up.

Landing it on Duna was a challenge because the parachutes would tear the speeder apart when they deploy fully, so I had to use the small rockets to slow down before that happened.

Getting two crafts to dock while stationary was solved by raising the gear on the fuel station.

I used a 3rd vehicle to pull the fueling station to Duna with fuel left to fill the speeder.
