I am going to add more, but I don't know exactly when. I have a couple of vignettes in the same 'verse, which are basically just scenes/snippets during the bedridden phase of Ben's recovery, but I frankly haven't fully decided on how I'm gonna do the ending/resolution.
part of me really wants to make it a long-form fic, like, with a bunch of character study-type chapters at the forefront and the recovery plotline as a sort of... background through-line? I guess? my muse takes me where it wants to, and while I definitely like both "bury the blade" and my undisclosed ben 10 fic from hell, the inspiration for specific scenes just... isn't really happening right now, so I'm doing some writing in other fics bc that's where my muse is actually cooperating.
buuuuuut........ since you asked, and since I've already shared a couple of lines from this little scene for an ask game, I'll go ahead and share a scene here! whenever I actually post it on ao3, it'll be as part of a series of vignettes that either functions as an interlude chapter or a companion piece to "bury the blade." this scene is mostly fluff and comedy with just a tiny bit of whump, but I digress.

"Jesus, Benji, they cut you off your meds or somethin'?"
Ben grunted and didn't bother looking at Kevin; he was too busy trying to breathe through the burning in his stomach. "Just moved wrong," he said through gritted teeth, which was technically true. Scratching an itch directly on top of a cauterized wound was a wrong move, and that's why Rox was looking at him with precisely zero sympathy. Kevin didn't need to know that, though.
Speaking of Kevin…
"When did you get here, anyway?"
"Two seconds ago." Kevin moved his arm, and his hand came into Ben's sightline holding–
"Smoothie! Yes!"
Kevin laughed, lowering himself to the floor by Ben's bed. "Easy, hero. You can't chug it laying down."
"Of course not," Ben said easily, still beaming. "I'm gonna savor this one. What kind is it?"
"Guess."
Kevin moved the straw to Ben's mouth, and he was too happy about the smoothie to feel embarassed about basically being hand-fed. He tasted it. Hm… a sweet flavor with a sour edge… a little bit of a spicy kick at the end… it tasted like strawberry, pineapple, mint…
Ben laughed. "You got me the tropical blood-sucker supreme? Kevin, that's terrible."
Kevin just grinned. "Hey, I wanted to get you the baby food one, but Gwen told me that would be mean. So this one was basically her idea. I wouldn't have to resort to blood transfusion jokes if she'd let me make fun of you being bedridden."
Laughing hurt, but it also felt really good. "You are such a jerk."
"Well, yeah. Didn't you say that's why we got along?"
He had. In fact, he had said that right after they both nearly murdered each other multiple times, so this was pretty tame in comparison.
"Correction," Ben added, "I said we're both jerks. Jeez, Kev, did all those blows to the head finally catch up with you?"
i like to think that amidst all the female rivalry over having ben as a boyfriend, kai and ester discovered they had a lot in common, building a beautiful friendship that soon turned into a committed relationship
looma and attea fought each other so fiercely that their rivalry as princesses and their evident determination led them to fall in love with one another
ben has a knack for creating potential sapphics because he's such an airhead
my totally canon queer headcanons. You can tell it's canon bc Ester and Charmcaster got some compulsive heterosexuality going on and if I was the writer I would take this burden off their shoulders and make them feel better about their respective sexualities
Something I think we don't talk about enough is how much EVERYONE SEEMS TO HATE BEN AT SCHOOL DURRING CLASSIC ERA.
NO beacuse seriously. The fact he's bullied is not really off, who wasn't? But it's the fact NOONE ELSE likes him either is what I wanna talk about. Like he gets picked very last at PE, when he adds something to conversation others were having, sudenly noone wants to continue the talk anymore, and even the other bullied kid, the one that would be his friend and a sidekick in any other cartoon, ALSO DISLIKES HIM. Actually being angry he tried to help, as he just makes everything worse. Like- he's not even in some kind of looser team, the other outcasts hate him too.
And like I'm aware it's beacuse the show takes place durring summer vacation, so there was no need to create him any friends at school, but like once he's back at the school setting, it's just so jarring to see.
I think more neurodivergent fandom folk that focus on Ben's nd traits should aknowlage that as I don't think I ever feel so strongly about Ben possibly being nd, than when I see how much other children just hate him for no reason.

I drew it right before finding out about the new comic and losing my shit. Like I saved this and an evil whisper in my ear said go check tumblr you might find a not dead fandom there. I opened the app and "ben10 2026 comic with body horror" slapped me in the face so hard I'm still down on the ground.
I'm gonna draw so so so many funky aliens and crying covered in blood bens with broken skeleton structures until my fingers start bleeding and also till I probably fail uni_
