Once she slipped off to dreamland, it actually got a little bit easier to relax. he matched his breathing with hers, using it as a tool to not only regain his calm but also make her sleep a bit more comfortable. Beds didn’t shake like it was five below. And that’s in degrees Celsius. Heh, guess he did remember a bit of chemistry. Or was it biology? Eh, fuck it.
He turned his head to the side, unable to hold back a warm smile at the sight of such a pretty girl using him as a pillow. He could tell she was quite attractive, even past those bags under her eyes. If she’d fallen asleep alone, she probably would have been accosted by some brute. Accosted. That’s how the word is used, right? meaning ‘getting attacked’? He had to remember that one. Especially because it kept cropping up in his contemporary literature class.
Hesitantly, he took his free hand and ran it through her hair, brushing her bangs off to the side so they weren’t all floofed in her face. Maybe he could stay here for awhile. Unless something happened. Like what if someone came in asking if he was her boyfriend?? Shit, how was he supposed to handle that?
It was about 3 hours later when Riko finally awoke. At first, she physically jumped because she had forgotten where she had been only to relax when she saw the familiar man’s face.
And only then did reality dawn on her.
She had borrowed this complete strangers shoulder for a pillow.
She recoiled in complete embarrassment, her face was red as a beet.
“A-Ah... I’m sorry for inconveniencing you!” She said as she quickly stood up and bowed to the other. Why had she done that? She clearly didn’t think straight when she was running on fumes but still. However as her mind raced a million miles an hour, another thought made itself known to her.
“You didn’t leave for the entire time I was asleep?” How long had it been anyway? Must have been a decent amount of time because she didn’t feel like she was dying inside anymore. Even so, this young man had opted to remain in one place for that long?
Her heart fluttered a bit at the gesture.
Talk about being selfless.
