I believe that an author should know their characters from every angle. Choice of partner, orientation, taboos, fetishes, and perversions too. Even if it’s not relevant to the plot or never mentioned at all — let it stay tucked away in a little box, waiting for its moment to shine. When I was just learning how to write scripts, this area was quite difficult for me, but now I LOVE digging into it.
These themes don’t take up much space, but they’re woven into the story and influence the characters, so I’ve written them out and will leave them here in case anyone besides me finds my characters interesting. TW! The text below may contain content that is inappropriate or distressing for some readers. If themes of violence and coercion are upsetting to you, please skip it. GRAD
• Gay • He can’t do it with just anyone — he needs a deep, spiritual connection with a potential partner. • He makes a lot of noise, but it's all pretty soft. He breathes heavily, whines, moans quietly, sobs gently. • At the same time, he gets horribly embarrassed by any talk. It makes him feel awkward and clumsy. • He’s incredibly tactile and affectionate. • Praise kink. • And submission. He’s into stronger vehicles (spiritually, physically — doesn’t matter). • Restraints, locks, chains? Yes, please. • So, of course, it wasn’t hard for him to fall under Riga’s influence, and at first, he even liked Riga’s roughness. Or rather — his mind decided to like it, as a survival mechanism. Riga’s dominance and aggression eventually crossed a line. In their “relationship,” Grad experienced several assaults, rapes and more than enough trauma. He managed to convince himself that he enjoyed it — or at least, that this was how it was supposed to be: "Well, you wanted this, didn’t you?" • Those unhealthy beliefs started to fall apart once Riga's hold over him was broken. Grad began to remember that he liked completely different things — but by then, he was too damaged to act on them.
GROM
• Bisexual • He’s very loyal in relationships. Once he’s bonded with someone, he’s unlikely to even glance at anyone else. But if he doesn’t have a steady partner, he’s not against having a good time — though he does so rarely. • Long and slow. He enjoys basking in the haze of arousal, stretching it out to the absolute limit. • And the moment when, on that edge, his partner starts begging, moaning, twitching, desperate for finish Grom always holds them down a little longer, drawing it out — he really loves hearing the sounds, the pleading, the particular kind of tension his partner’s body gives off. All in a positive way — if he ever sensed that the reaction was from discomfort or emotional distress, he’d stop immediately. • He understands that the bottom partner is in a more vulnerable position — and deserves to be cared for. He’s extremely gentle. • He snorts, growls low, and talks quite a bit in a soft voice — usually saying something kind, reassuring, or checking in on his partner. He never uses degrading words, never tries to humiliate his partner, and finds that kind of behavior disgusting. • Aftercare every time. He makes sure everything’s alright, and definitely stays close afterward. • He spent a long time, very patiently, helping Grad regain his sense of self-worth. Grom has plenty of experience dealing with frightened, traumatized vehicles — so he knows how to find the right key. Did it work completely? Well… some things can’t be fully repaired. But over time, Grad became fairly stable. He still loses confidence sometimes — but at least now, he no longer expects to be insulted, hurt or forced.
their first time
It happened during a trip to the big city — they were sent to a specialized conference to represent their unit. Not that “The Voice” really needed them to go, but formalities are formalities.
Trips like that are tough for Grom. He gets worn out fast and… no, he didn’t do anything wrong to Grad. But for Grad, it only took one glance — one he could misread. And a worn-out Grom can look pretty grim.
Grad sensed the shift and fell into his old pattern — the one he used around Riga when things started to go bad. He went quiet and became as meek and agreeable as possible.
Grom noticed and helped Grad calm down.
If you overlook that awkward moment, the trip was wonderful for Grad. They were finally spending time on proper roads! So, Grom had shown him how great the world could be where the asphalt ends, and now Grad could return the favor. So once Grad had calmed down, they went for a ride. Grad knew how to plan a route Grom would enjoy — and he was right.
They drove around the city late into the night. Until the final November downpour began.
And when they returned to their hotel room, Grad simply wanted it to happen.
Here. Now. Please.
