3 Movies You Can Never Get Tired With
They don’t make movies like the used to, right? Today’s cinematography manages to impress us more in terms of incredible special effects and less with a well-developed script. How many movies made in the last couple of years could be included in this list of 100 best movies of all time according to TenMania? Probably not that many. Be that as it may, but today we are going to focus on those breathtaking movies that most of us have probably seen more than once. And the funny thing is that we could watch them over and over again and still enjoy them with the same passion.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
The year was 1947. Andy Dufresne, a young banker, is sentenced to life imprisonment for killing his wife and her lover, though Andy said he was innocent. In prison, Andy meets Red, a black man imprisoned for 20 years. Andy will devises an ingenious plan to escape prison and punish the tyrannical director of the prison.
Tim Robbins makes the role of the silent thinker “killer”. In prison, he finds a new friend, Morgan Freeman, an “old wolf” who seems to know everything, but still has much to learn.
Besides the merit of being educational and full of parables, the film manages to be spectacular. Prison gets to be presented as some place with good people and bad, a place you get used to, becoming home for some of the inmates.
Forrest Gump (1994)
1994, a good year for cinematography.
“Life is like a box of chocolates … you never know what you’re gonna get”.
The story begins with a feather falling to the feet of Forrest. Forrest takes it and puts it in his bag. Seated on a bench waiting for the bus, Forrest, throughout the film, tells his life is like feathers in the wind.
Forrest Gump is one of those film productions that have become a phenomenon. In this movie, Tom Hanks makes an exceptional role as Forrest, an ordinary man whose simple innocence gets to embody an entire generation. Awarded six Oscars, including the award for Best Film, Best Director (Robert Zemeckis) and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Tom Hanks), Forrest Gump is a title you do not want to it miss.
Gladiator (2000)
Director Ridley Scott returns to the cinema audience the glorious battles from Roman times in a sweeping story of courage and revenge. The great Roman general Maximus (Russell Crowe) once again led the legions to victory on the battlefield. Once the war ended, Maximus thought about returning home to his wife and son. However, the dying Emperor Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) still has a task for him: to pass on his power.
Jealous of Maximus, the heir to the throne, Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) order his execution and that of his family. Barely escaping from death, Maximus becomes a slave and he is trained as a gladiator in the arena. Now he is back in Rome with the intention to avenge the murder of his wife and son by killing the new emperor Commodus. Maximus learns that the only power greater than that of the king is the will of the people.
