disappear 06 / 07 / 08. A trilogy of patreon-exclusive prints now available publicly for the first time in very limited quantities.
disappear is an ongoing series about 21st century loss, isolation, identity, and fleeting connections. In searching for a way to communicate that visually, I was drawn back to the style of glitching that we created back in 2007 for Nine Inch Nails' Year Zero. On that album, the degraded-data look was conceived out of the mythology that everything in the Year Zero experience was sent back in time from 2022 as a warning, through a primitive digital process that heavily damaged the data along the way.
Approaching this new work in the actual time of Year Zero’s future fiction, the analogy of fragmented, damaged, incomplete data felt like a fitting metaphor for the feeling of modern disconnectedness and isolation I wanted to express. As the pandemic has surrounded us with loss while pushing us further online, further into fragmented manipulated corporate communication channels sold to us as replacements for community, this aesthetic and the metaphor it represents feels more and more prescient.
There are currently 8 prints in the disappear series - a very limited number of 06-08 are currently up for a short time in my rare print sale.
