“I want to honor the men, honor their experience. I want to show black and brown people themselves within the system being fully human. The goal of my work is not to … try to convince anyone of anything, but to honor what is” -Ava DuVernay, Director

All I can say is this needs to be seen.

They still have the audacity to defend this decision…
I don’t think we should admit to something we didn’t do.

When They See Us (dir. Ava DuVernay) streaming now on Netflix.
Ooooh! I’m about to watch!
This is a beautiful production but anyone take caution when watching because it’s extremely upsetting but important. With the acting and directing you will feel like you’re actually going through this hell and understand the real life situation.
This show literally broke my heart! I’m happy to hear that they were able to move on with their lives but they were so young and obviously didn’t deserve anything that happened to them! The individuals who worked this case need to be on trial for obstruction of justice and so much more. The fact that they didn’t have any remorse proves that individuals like them are so quick to discard the lives of poc adults and children
Jharrel Jerome as Korey Wise in When They See Us: Part 4
I cried.
I’ve cried every single episode, but with PART 4 I literally cried from beginning to end. The way they did all 5 of ‘em was terrible, but it was the most heartbreaking seeing what Korey went through because he went through the most. I had to pause a few times watching this series, but I’m glad this is out there. The world needs to know their truth, and most importantly how they treat us when they see us!
This show is a must watch. I had never heard of the “Central Park Five” before and to learn about their stories and everything they went through was hard. To clearly see the injustice done to these young kids and still being done today to people of color is so hard and emotional. Every episode made me feel angry and cry Ava Duvernay did an amazing job.
