✨i'm corvid! i'm a 23 year old trans & queer parent doing life with my fiance in the midwest, and I'm a hellenic polytheist!

✨i first became a pagan around 9 years ago, but fell away from active worship 3-4 years ago due to Life and all that. I'm getting back into things now, so I'm not exactly new, but I'm rusty so to speak :)

✨i mostly worship Hermes and Dionysus, and recently I've been very involved with Apollo. and of course, all the theoi have a place in my life, so you're likely to see a little of everyone here :)

i think there's something really interesting in the fact that zeus, the king of the universe, king of the gods, lord of lords, the divine embodiment of authority is the youngest of not just his brothers but all of his siblings. it's very easy for people to assume zeus is the oldest because he's powerful and wise (well. most people nowadays ignore the wise part) but he is by necessity the baby of the family! and this is from a culture where the eldest sibling was supposed to take the lead. hera even uses this point against zeus in the iliad when she's asserting her own authority. it's just an interesting example of how zeus does not always conform to traditional expectations of what a ruler should be, to me.

The anti-myth literalism narrative is quickly spiraling into disregarding the myths entirely. Myths serve as the very foundation for 99.9% of myths - explain why Zeus is the King without mentioning the Titanomachy. Explain why Hermes and Apollo are associated with hawks - or why Hestia is a virgin goddess, or why Dionysus is associated with madness. Can you? Without a single reference to a myth? Myths are not reflections of the Gods, but a God with no myth gets forgotten. Please do not forget our gods.

before I left for work today I on a whim pulled a random tarot card and I got death which is a positive card in general but it also made me laugh because I asked the cards "What's my work shift at the funeral home gonna be like today?" And I got death. Like yes ha ha you guys are hilarious. Making me pull that very on the nose card. Yes, death will be there it will be death-like at the funeral home. very funny

because i love y’all, i’m sharing my family’s recipe for apple tea (traditional fall/winter drink in west asia, turkey, and many areas of the balkans)

it’s like a more delicate version of apple cider and i basically live off of this stuff when the weather starts to cool!

Apple Tea (for two)

1 large apple or 2 small, shredded (you can use a cheese grater)

3 cups water

1-2 cinnamon sticks

2-3 pc clove (optional)

honey to taste

1 tsp of lemon juice (add at end)

green tea (optional! the lebanese version usually calls for green tea but i actually prefer it without. up to you!)

throw it all in a pot and let it simmer on a low temperature for an hour or so. while it’s simmering, it will also make your home smell delicious! (if you make it with green tea, add the tea at the end, about five minutes before taking it off the heat so the flavor doesn’t become bitter from oversteeping). strain into your cups and enjoy hot.
