Tips for Coping with an Awful Day
1. Distract yourself. Let your mind wander and think about fun things you’ve planned; or watch a funny movie; or call up a friend.
2. Play your favourite music.
3. Try and balance out your terrible day by thinking of something that went really well (and maybe unexpectedly well) recently.
4. Try and squeeze in time for exercise. The endorphins this releases will help to lift your mood.
5. Don’t isolate yourself. Research shows that we generally feel better if we spend time with others, rather than retreating and being on our own.
6. Try to maintain perspective. Ask yourself, “How much will this matter - a week, month or year from now?”
7. Try journaling. Many people find that just writing things down helps to drain away the negativity.
8. Go to bed early and try to fall asleep … And remember that tomorrow is another day.

Buddhism and Hinduism Compared
by Saṃsāran
Hinduism was not founded by any one teacher. Buddhism was founded by Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha. Most Hindus revere the Buddha as an incarnation of the God Vishnu, or at least as a wise and inspired teacher.
Hinduism is based upon the Vedas. Buddhism does not recognize these texts as scripture but many Buddhists, myself included, see them as full of wisdom and beauty and read them.
Hinduism can be considered theistic in having a vision of a personal God. Buddhism is pantheistic with no creator God.
Hinduism has the concept of an individual soul called the “Atman”. Buddhism sees all souls as one.
Buddhists consider the world to be full of sorrow and regard ending the sorrow as the chief aim of human life. The Hindus consider that there are four chief aims (arthas) in life which every being should pursue. They are Dharma (religious duty), Artha (wealth or material possessions), Kama (desires and passions) and Moksha (salvation.)
Hinduism teaches that release from birth called “Moksha”, i.e. salvation.comes from knowledge, devotion and good works. In Buddhism enlightenment. a different concept than the “salvation” of Hinduism, comes primarily from the cessation of desire.
Buddhism has a more formal set of clergy. Hinduism is less formal.
Hinduism is an individual tradition. Buddhism requires a “Sangha” or religious community and is more of a group tradition.
Hinduism has more formal “rituals” than Buddhism.
Both accept Karma and rebirth; however, they differ greatly the manner in which these concepts work in our lives.
These are some of the major and more general differences. This is not an exhaustive list. However, remember both traditions are ancient, huge and varied. There are for example sects of Hinduism which are atheistic, some pantheistic and others polytheistic or monotheistic. So, you will no doubt be able to find many exceptions to these general statements.

“A famous philosopher once said, ” Life is simple, but we insist on making it complicated.” The truth is we don’t know how to make it simple because we’re constantly trying to find what makes us happy. The thing is there’s nothing wrong with trial and error. There’s nothing wrong with failing one too many times and there’s certainly nothing wrong with winning one too many times either. One thing we can all agree on is life isn’t fair. But what is fair is the choice we make to obtain happiness. Some choose to participate. Some choose to disrupt the order. Some get all the attention and some thrive in the shadows. Some enjoy the thrill and some play it safe. Some choose to work hard and some hardly work. Some play the game and some would rather make the rules. The world is too big for any one path to be the right one. So regardless of the path you choose, remember that it remains unique to you. It becomes your story. That is what inspires us. Be Proud of Your Story”
