calcium. This song was written actually before I formed Kickbox. It was the first song that I wrote with a completely new mindset. The chorus was one that stuck out of all the songs I was writing at the time. My life was going well. I had been changing so much under everything, but also had been wanting things to stay the way they were at the moment. I had been proud of who I had become. The idea came around seeing the movie "Chapie" with my brother in Reno. As the final credits rolled, what I took away from it was how fragile we were made to be. In the movie, Chapie was flawed by designed. It made me relate to how our creator made us to be flawed. Our bones are made of a fragile material. Why not titanium. Why calcium? Why death? Why can't we live forever? It's an interesting topic I really wanted to explore. But as all my introspective ideas at the time, I buried it. This song reemerged after I was sleeping on the bench of our van while on the highway out west. The driver slammed on the brakes and I flew forward. I remember thinking I was saved. But it didn't feel like being saved. It felt like prolonging the pain. Am I still scared of death still? Yes. Absolutely. When the plane shutters or dips I find myself wishing there was more time. But while I'm here I often find it as a struggle. Eternal rest doesn't sound that bad. We are all born with pain in our hearts we carry to our grave. Well some anyway. So we were meant to be weak. We were made out of calcium after all. These bodies break. One day they'll stop mending. -Trevi
