Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young!
"It isn’t Narnia, you know," sobbed Lucy. "It’s you. We shan’t meet you there. And how can we live, never meeting you?"
"But you shall meet me, dear one," said Aslan.
"Are are you there too, Sir?" said Edmund.
"I am," said Aslan. "But there I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that by knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there.”
"Are you there too, Sir?"
So true.
Amen!

Helping kids sing with confidence: Let it Go!
Is it just me or is every parent on earth posting home videos of their kids singing “Let it Go” from the Disney movie, “Frozen”? Why do kids sing with so much confidence at home and barely open their mouths when they sing at church? They know the song backwards and forwards and they’re in a safe place.
One of our jobs at KidShine is to help kids sing with great confidence. The same principles apply—teach them the song very well, and make them feel safe.  Parents are always amazed on Friday nights.
You can teach kids to sing with confidence, too. Â Here are the three things to emphasize:
1. WordsÂ
Ever heard a song and think “whuh?” Yeah, me too.  Many times words are pronounced differently when speaking than when singing.  Kids need to know those differences and exactly where those changes happen in the song. Review and talk about the words and phrases. First instruction to any soloist: memorize the words ONLY.  Makes a huge difference later.
2. Music
Kids love music.  Adults love music.  Loving music isn’t enough to sing a song well.  Reviewing each section of the melody and how to sing each phrase well is so important.  Sing through it with them.  Their confidence will begin to soar—and that will result in an amazingly powerful song. Â
3. Story
Kids love to perform.  Most of the time they’re more than eager to get behind the mic and belt out their favorite song.  Replace “performance” with “storytelling” and everything they know about the song (the words, the music) will come to life. If you can help them understand the story they are telling—the performance will happen all by itself.Â
