Soft crimson eyes met the others. “Sailor?” He swallowed thickly around the fear as he approached the taller male and looked up at him. “You…can you tell me what it’s like out there? Please? I-in exchange you can stay in my tower for a…a day or two until mother returns…she, doesn’t like strangers. But at least you…should be safe to leave then..” Slender hands balled into fists nervously in his clothes.

It was clear that this man had no idea what his silver strands could do and that worked out just fine as far as he was concerned. The less people knew of his hair the safer he felt. It wasn’t ideal but..there were worse ways to learn of the world he’d read about in books. “I..I mean I’ve studied the ocean all my life and..I’ve read stories!”

He was eager to please; eager to do anything in his power to learn more about the place he could only imagine in his mind. “I….I haven’t even seen any pictures please–”

“Describing the ocean doesn’t really do it justice. You’d have to see it yourself.” he said, sighing softly as if it were his first and only love. “But it stretches far beyond the horizon, sparkling blue. The waves are relaxing, most people love the sound of them crashing on the shore. But the ocean can also be quite cunning and cruel. Even I couldn’t fully master it myself. But if you respect it, it will show you respect in return.”

Perhaps a rather exaggerated story of a body of water, but it was apparent that the sea was his home.

“You know, you can leave this place. I don’t see why you would just want to coop yourself up in here. People really aren’t after hair, y’know.”

“M-my lord…” he said softly, his gaze sliding away from the others slow loss of clothing. “I hardly feel that is appropriate…especially so…so out in the open…” He nervously held his hands out away from the man so close to him.

“People aren’t going to just stare up at a balcony.” he said. “It’s not like I’m naked or anything anyway. Just took off a few layers. I don’t know how you and your siblings could wear so many layers.”

He felt lowly; like a mere weed being adored by a wildflower. It was poetically tragic how much he loved this being of beauty that never should have been drawn to something as vile as him. He could not love like the others, nor could he offer that adoration without question so many lords desired. “I…do not know how my kingdom would take such a match…” he muttered. In politics, love meant little.

Koumei knew the sacrifices of being in a kingdom all too well…but he so desperately wished to please the man touching him with such reverence. “You…if you can accept me as I am; not just a man but someone with too much logic in his brain and not enough emotion I…”

A deep breath followed as he steadied himself so he could finally meet the others gaze. “I would pretend to be a woman and adopt an heir; do anything you asked of me to ensure that you…” A tremble and he stopped, closing his eyes.

“But your kingdom…an heir…I could never be so selfish as to hurt you. All I have ever desired since I first laid eyes on you was your happiness. There is a weight on your shoulders…one I would share but I know I cannot…yet my selfish heart wishes to protect you under my own…I love you–more deeply than the ocean reach and to the edge of the stars and beyond; I love you much more than I should–”

“I can see why people think you and Ja’far are so much alike.” he said. “You both worry about such things that I don’t. My kingdom will survive whether or not I produce an heir. I’m not like all the other royals who worry that a son will inherit my throne. If anything, I would promote someone I trust to do that for me.”

He placed a hand on the top of Koumei’s head, slowly caressing the red strands. “You do not have to change anything about yourself to suit me. As I’ve already said, I love you for who you are. You are not selfish in my eyes, but should you desire to produce an heir, I would not be upset about it either.”

He lowered his hand, a kind smile on his face. “Do not worry about me or my kingdom. Despite what people say, I do have the situation under control.”

Koumei blinked in surprise as the King shoved aside his paperwork and collapsed in his lap. It was hot out but he’d been fine in a simple robe on the balcony. “K-King Sinbad?”

“It’s too hot.” he said. He was probably being dramatic. Sindria was a tropical island country, most likely much warmer than it was in Kou. Still, it was probably a good excuse to forego paperwork and do nothing. He pulled off a few items of clothing. That was better.

Koumei was not comforted by the others words; not in the slightest but he felt his tension ease slightly. when he knew that the other wasn’t after his hair. “I…” What could he say? What did one say to a total stranger they knew nothing about who could free them of the confines of this miserable tower. “You really…don’t want my hair?” To timid and shy to ask much else, he curled in on himself as he stared nervously at the man who had invaded his home and turned his world upside down. “Wh-why are you hiding? What did you…do that warrants hiding in such a remote place as this?”

Curiosity would always be his bane; something he feared might one day get him killed, but there are thing he longed to see and places he felt in his heart needed to see him. “I’m…Koumei…” he finally murmured. “And you?”

“Listen, I don’t have any use for your hair. Even if I could pawn it off for a wig or something, people don’t want silver hair as a wig. It just makes them look old.” he said. “I don’t know who told you that people would want your hair, but they’re wrong.”

Turning his head, Sinbad stared out the window. The authorities were probably gone by now. No one would think to look up in a tower that had no way up but climbing through a window. He turned to look back at Koumei, lounging on the window sill. “I stole something valuable to sell.” he said. “So I could get the money to feed those less fortunate. Plenty of poor souls in this country who can’t even feed their children.”

Golden eyes seemed to soften. This kid was too soft for his own good. Perhaps that was to be expected for someone who lived in an isolated place like that. “Sinbad the Sailor.”

Backing up against the wall he gripped his hair tighter. Well, it was clear that he was about as intimidating as a mouse. Still, he couldn’t stand the thought of being taken away from his home. “Don’t! Don’t I’ve…” He swallowed thickly, pressing further against the wall. “This is my home…all I’ve ever known…I beg you…please don’t take me away from that! Please my hair isn’t worth it…” He had wanted to go out before, but not with someone he was afraid might possibly use him.

The last thing he wanted was to be bullied through the rest of his life. “Mother will be back soon! She won’t…she’ll kill you if you try to harm me!” It was his last retort really, nothing else was coming to his mind. Swallowing thickly around the fear threatening to choke him he pulled the strands further against him. “Please…”

What the hell was this kid going on about? Kidnapping him? His hair? It was also clear that he had some fears the were rather out there. “Why the hell would I want your hair?” Sure, it was weird to see someone so young with silver hair, but it wasn’t like silver hair was something valuable. “I can’t feed people with hair.” Then again, there were people who bought hair for wigs. He’d rather not run off with that much hair.

Sinbad folded his arms over his chest, stepping closer to Koumei and looking him over. He seemed harmless enough. “I’m only here to hide out, I could care less about what you’re doing here, why you value your hair so much, or whether or not your mother is dangerous. So am I.”

Head tilted to the side as Doron’s eyes narrowed at the man who’d neared him on the street. It was impossible not to know who he was, with the way he held himself and his general appearance.

There was no way for someone not to realize, as long as they weren’t blind, that this man was the king of Sindria.

Doron looked him over when he spoke, frowning behind his bangs and narrowing his eyes at the king. “Sure,” he grunted, waving a hand dismissively. “If you say so.” That was about as polite as he could handle, especially towards this man.

“You seem a little lost.” The king said with a chuckle. Lost or trying to not to be detected by authorities. He didn’t look like he could hide any stolen goods in those clothes of him. Then again, he would be caught.

“Would you like something to eat?” he asked, holding out a wrapped parcel.

“And I will make a good country for everyone.” he said. He was still determined to follow through with that plan. Even if it killed him in the end. Sinbad stood and followed after Ithnan. Perhaps he’d be less groggy after some exercise and they could fly the rest of the way.

The king was always generous. He even chuckles at the happy smile on his face. The king was really happy to see him. The fanalis felt so at ease around the man, which was probably dangerous. Considering, the powerful hold the man had over him. Even now, Sinbad still had a power over him few new about. It was delicate and had to be balanced, and depending on his mental state grow or waned. Sinbad was the one who saved him from the Colosseum, and the man had the special quality of dominance few truly had naturally. While Sinbad was his friend and king, he was also in some form even if suppressed his master. That power was delicate, but Sinbad had never abused it; whether he knew about it or not Masrur couldn’t say. The two never really talked about it, but a balance was made. And the Fanalis didn’t question it. “Well, Ja’far would wake you up with cold water. I do think a massage is a better way to wake up.” He says offering the other a morning massage. ◢

“No one is forbidding you from coming in here, Masrur.” he said. “Unless I already had a guest in here. But you do usually carry me to my bed. I don’t mind if you stayed.”

To call Sinbad powerful and Masrur’s master probably wouldn’t sit well with the king. Sinbad saw all of his generals as his equal and the fact that Masrur felt that way, would have made Sinbad sad. Masrur was a free man. There was no reason to feel like a slave any longer. Sinbad reminded him that as often as he could remember to.

“A massage is definitely better than cold water.”

“I am the dweller of this tower…you are trespassing here…leave!” He hissed to the other, gripping his hair tighter. After some consideration he carefully slid down, padding across the floor and into the light where the other could see him, the strands of silver going on for what seemed like ages behind him. “You do not belong in this world…outsiders are…not allowed!” He forced the tremble back from his voice as he stared at the other. There were options but his hair was valuable, or so he’d been told. Was he going to be taken away? That wasn’t something he desired.

“Leave at once or…or I’ll be cross!!” Standing up taller, his dress straigtening with his figure, he glared at the other male. The shaking in his hands wouldn’t stop but he was determined to not let his fear show and so he stood fast. In truth he was terrified beyond belief and should the other try anything he wasn’t sure he could save himself if the other did decide to prey upon him. Soft red eyes looked up at the other from behind thick lashes and strands of wild starlit hair.

It didn’t take a genius to know that the figure standing before was scared shitless. It probably wasn’t even a surprise that he should be. The tower had no door and the only means to getting in was through a window. It was probably safe to say that this person was a hermit of some sort. How he got his food was beyond him, nor did it actually concern him.

Folding his arms, the sailor looked over the smaller male, golden eyes wandering over the seriously ridiculous amounts of silver hair. How did anyone keep up with that? If must take hours. His was long enough. “You’ll be cross.” Sinbad snorted. “I could probably pick ya up and toss ya out the window there if I wanted to.” A little extreme, but Sinbad wasn’t about to get caught by a bunch of imperials or by some long haired hermit.

“Can’t say this is much of a world, though. More like a shitty room.”
