We have to admit that there are plenty of people who live in Chicago whose lives largely involve taking cabs to the Pump Room. Lives in which visiting Wicker Park counts as an excursion. Who knows, maybe there are even people out there who believe that the Loop is “a constellation of theater, nightlife and shopping.”

More and more people in this country no longer make or do anything tangible; if your job wasn’t performed by a cat or a boa constrictor in a Richard Scarry book I’m not sure I believe it’s necessary.
