CHONGYUN’s new idle animation
Genshin x Huang Long
Just... look at how adorable Xiangling looks here! She’s one of my absolute fave characters and her bear Guoba is too adorable. I love how its name Guoba (锅巴) means crispy rice crust, which is one of my fave snacks too. tbh playing with Xiangling on my team makes me hungry.
Anyways, I’ve digressed. This is another post on GENSHIN IRL!!!! Mihoyo has worked with local tourism authorities in China to promote certain tourist spots that were used as reference when creating the game. More specifically, they’ve worked with Huang Long 黃龍, which means yellow dragon, the place that was the basis for Luhua Pool 渌华池, my favourite area on the entire Liyue map!
(Honestly, can you even tell which image is from the game and which is the real scenery?)
Mihoyo has also highlighted how they paid special attention to the flora and fauna that actually grows in Huang Long, to serve as a basis for what wildlife to integrate into the environment in Liyue and the area around Luhua Pool. Do these “Glaze Lilies” and “Silk Flowers” look familiar?
I love how they installed teleport waypoints and geoculus at these tourist spots too! I have no idea how long these exhibits will be there, and with covid, leisure travel isn’t going to happen anytime soon, but thanks to genshin, I have another place to add to my long list of places in China that I want to visit!
Genshin x Zhang Jia Jie
I am honestly incredibly impressed by Mihoyo’s efforts in creating Genshin, the art and the scenery is gorgeous!
Anyways, if you’ve already run around Liyue, you’d realise that the map and concept is based after China, and some of these places were designed after real places! Case in point: Jueyun Karst and Zhang Jia Jie!
Better yet, Mihoyo has been working with the local authorities (I’d assume the tourism board & stuff like that) to place Genshin Impact statues & features at these actual tourist spots to encourage players to travel and visit these beautiful landscapes in reality as well!
Found this to be really cool and it’s a pity that Mihoyo doesn’t upload some of their promo videos meant for the Chinese market on youtube :( I got some of these screenshots from their videos on their channel on BiliBili, China’s version of youtube!
Side note: I personally recommend listening to the Chinese audio in-game as they are hands-down the nicest and provide the best experience! (Save for maybe Zhongli’s voice in Japanese bc the VA is Tomoaki Maeno aka Son Hak and everyone knows I simp for Hak... but Zhongli sounds good in chinese too!!!!!)
Though, I would admit that I’m biased as I’m Chinese, can understand mandarin, and has consumed my fair share of Chinese Wuxia media, but the Chinese audio just makes so much more sense & flows better than any other dub. (It is, after all, developed by a Chinese company.) I know that Childe refers to a youth of noble birth, but it just... doesn’t sit right with me. It’s like... just, child. 公子 (gongzi) is what they use to refer to Childe and it’s like a polite way to say young man/sir/young master and it just flows so. much. better. At least, it’s cooler... to me at least.
But really, do play with Chinese audio when you’re in Liyue to really immerse yourself in the Chinese-inspired atmosphere!

If you're on mobile, I'd highly suggest screenshotting the gifs individually rather than as a set to avoid getting the same person for everything
