During the time where the circus members were still under harsh human management and entertainment, pyre was mostly used for acts that you’d see animals perform in a circus such as:
Balancing on stools, jumping through hoops of fire, and other harmful and stressful acts. He was either trained by whip or hooks, if he were to refuse, they’d make the punishments worse, and keep him in extremely small cages with little to no room for movement.
His ability to breathe flames was also restricted by a tight muzzle, this caused issues with his jaw, eating and talking became another task to work for.
