Seine (paintings) is the subject and location of paintings that Vincent van Gogh made in 1887. The Seine has been an integral part of Parisian life for centuries for commerce, travel and entertainment. Here van Gogh primarily captures the respite and relief from city life found in nature. 🌻
Durga, (Sanskrit: “the Inaccessible”) in Hinduism, a principal form of the Goddess, also known as Devi and Shakti.
According to legend, Durga was created for the slaying of the buffalo demon Mahishasura by Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, and the lesser gods, who were otherwise powerless to overcome him. Embodying their collective energy (shakti), she is both derivative from the male divinities and the true source of their inner power.
She is usually depicted riding a lion and with 8 or 10 arms, each holding the special weapon of one of the gods, who gave them to her for her battle against the buffalo demon. Durga Puja, held annually in her honour, is one of the greatest festival in kolkata, the city of joy . ♥️🌺
St. Andrew's Church, located in the Lal Bazar district, also known as Kirk, is the only Scottish church in Calcutta and was only open to the public on March 8, 1818. St. Andrew's Church was built right on the site of the Old Court House, which was demolished in 1792. The first stone was laid on November 30, 1815 by the Marquis of Hastings. Countess Moira and Countess Loudon attended the stone-laying ceremony. In 1835, the clock was installed on the tower. It was developed by M / s Burn, Currie & Co. He was also known as "laat sahib ka girja" (governor's church). The name probably came from the fact that the first stone was laid by the wife of Governor General Marquis Hastings.
Surprisingly, the church is currently in fairly good condition.
