"Take a shower at home before more days go by; it’s better."
Y/N looked up from her phone and frowned.
"Can you stop saying that? I already showered."
"That you showered. A national miracle."
Y/N sent a sticker of someone hitting him with a frying pan.
"And yet you keep talking to me."
That made her go quiet for a few seconds.
Vodka was always like that. A sarcastic comment, a dry reply, and then something that left her confused.
"Well, then I'll stay three provinces away."
"Liar, you love me anyway."
It took him several seconds to reply.
Y/N smiled to herself at the screen.
A few weeks later, they were talking about random things. About ducks. About streets. About absurd theories. About nothing important.
And then Vodka blurted out:
"So, you're picking me up at the airport, then."
"The one where we get married."
Y/N almost dropped her phone.
"I made that clear ages ago."
"That we could have something in person."
Her heart skipped a beat.
But the way he’d said it didn't sound like a joke.
Sometimes he’d disappear for hours.
Or reply with a simple "yeah."
Or seem to be in a bad mood.
But even then, he was still there.
"Everything good, Vodkiee?"
"Love you too, goofball."
Y/N stared at the message.
Because, in the end, that was the problem.
Vodka never said things directly.
He hid them behind jokes, sarcasm, and absurd comments.
But when she learned to read between the lines, she began to notice that he was always paying attention.
And that, no matter how much he feigned indifference, he always ended up talking to her again.
