Christian raised his eyebrows. “Okay, come and get me then,” he teased. “Well thanks for pretending to show interest.” He let out a small laugh. “But staying away from people from Florida? Good idea. Trust me, wish I wasn’t from there, definitely the worst state.”

“You really don’t want me to do that, you’ll be on the floor on your back in like two minutes.” Kit smirked at the other, “Been training since I was around five years old and my Dad did not go easy on me.” And that was before she knew about these factions and fairies, she just thought she was really good when it came to holding her own. “I mean Alabama is kind of close, but then again I’m bias given I lived in the best state.”

Winnie couldn’t say she was familiar with ‘body-snatchers’, so she simply kept that to herself, not wanting to ask and look stupid. Especially if it was some sort of common knowledge. “That also sounds fair,” she nodded at Kit’s added terms. There were things she couldn’t legally share being royalty, so that worked for her. “What would you like to ask me?”

Being put on the spot Kit had about a thousand questions and yet none at all, she didn’t know what were the right and important things to ask and what she wanted to know just out of sure curiosity. “Where are you from?” She guessed she’d start easy, not that she knew much about the realms around this place, the idea that there were realms was confusing enough. She much preferred her states and countries.

“I can basically turn a man into a shish kebab with the right weapon, so I’d say they teach some decent stuff around here all the same,” he replied, although he was definitely considering looking into more information about the Mothman later out of pure curiosity. “Yes I did,” Dante nodded his head as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. “Pfft, trust me. If I was pulling a move on you it’d be much more original than calling you ‘princess’. That’s been way too overused over the years if you ask me.”

"Pretty sure I knew how to do that before coming here, Brooklyn is great but you go down the wrong alley or piss off the wrong person and you could be in a world of hurt. My dad taught me how to protect myself and I caught the hang of it pretty quickly.” She bragged a little, but she knew she was good and she was going to make a point of showing off when here. Especially if it meant putting men back in their place. “Noted. Doesn’t change the fact that you just referred to me as a Princess and I’m the furthest thing from being a Princess.”

“Understandable,” she nodded, although she was also pretty suspicious of the girl in front of her. As someone of royal blood, it wouldn’t be too outlandish to presume somebody was trying to find a way to infiltrate the government of a realm. Winnie had been taught to be cautious all her life after all. “Kit,” she found herself smiling at the little anecdote. “Hey, looks like we have something in common apart from having the same face. There’s something oddly comforting about that,” Winnie remarked. “So… how about I answer a question for you and you answer one for me in return? That sounds like a fair proposition, right?”

“I don’t know if oddly comforting is the term I would use for it, but sure. Let’s go with that other then the body-snatcher fanatics did a good job on making us have similar lifestyles.” She added, knowing she was falling down a deep dark hole of videos she sat up watching until four in the morning sometimes when she couldn’t sleep and applying them to her own life. Something she had been doing a lot since her Dad brought her here. “Right- yeah, that sounds fair. Though I feel like we should be able to veto something we don’t want to answer because I’m not about to spill my entire life and personal private details to you just because we look the same.”

“You have a point there, they must take an oath or something like that.” They exaggerated, of course they were all just doing their jobs but this exam season really felt like something specifically targeted towards them. “Do you think it’s part of their training or something like that?” Simona offered up their theory. Simona enjoyed the learning part in school but all the suffocating underneath the assignments couldn’t be good for anyone. “Seriously? Even the teachers?” 

“I can picture it now, all of them dressed in robes, chanting, placing hands on a book and swearing to cause us all misery for as long as they shall teach.... Maybe it’s a cult.” She added, loving a good conspiracy theory, especially of the cult kind. “It must be, student torture 101, if you don’t pass that you can’t get a license to teach.” She joked with a small chuckle. “Even the teachers and it’s really starting to piss me off, if they have something to say I wish they would just say it instead of whispering behind my back. Is it because I’m from Earth or something? I thought you had people like that here, changelings or whatever the hell they’re called.”

“Trust me, wish I didn’t, not the greatest place, though the news lines are often interesting. Besides, I haven’t been back there for years and I don’t plan to go back anytime in the future,” he replied. “God, please don’t, don’t feel like telling that story today. You’ll have to try harder than that then. You could always push me out.”

“Too hot and too stupid for my liking.” She stated, “Also I find the people from there tend to be close minded and I want to try and stay away from those who wrestle gators for fun.” Though there were plenty of close minded people in New York, she just believed that the city was more liberal compared to some other states, especially when upon watching the elections take place. “Don’t worry, I wasn’t going to, I was just trying to act nice by pretending to show interest.” She told the other, smirking at the other at his idea. “You know pushing you out isn’t that bad of an idea.”

“I’d only call your theories crazy if I knew what the hell the Mothman was in the first place,” Dante admitted with a furrowed brow. “But… you sure you don’t know about this place? Because you look an awful lot like the current princess of Crescere. Or is that just an absurd resemblance?” he asked, having familiarized himself with the monarchy of all the realms. Dante had always had a fascination with being a prince or even a king some day, despite how unrealistic the reality of that was.

“You don’t what the Mothman is? Do they teach you anything good in this place?” Kit couldn’t help but scoff, because if these people were so cut off from her world, she wasn’t sure she was going to survive. She was already starting to miss Brooklyn and was tempted to go back to her father and beg them to go back home. “I’m sorry, did you just say princess?” Kit asked the other, not being able to stop the shock on her face and the laughter from coming out her mouth, “My man if that was a big up line, then you really used it on the wrong gal, I’m not your princess type.”

Like Kit, Simona was very interested in conspiracy theories however today their mind was very focused on the- what felt like, mountains of school work. “I know it’s their job but wouldn’t it be nice if they just gave us a break?” They exclaimed before sighing. Simona knew all of this work was what they had signed up for. “You’re winning the jackpot with that, I think now’s the time to suck up to all the professors so when they actually start giving you work it’s not as hard.” 

“Pretty sure giving us a break would go against all their believes that is to make our lives the absolute worst.” Kit commented, looking to the other with a disgruntled face. “If it makes you feel any better, it’s the same on Earth too. Every school I went to, and I went to a lot, just wanted to make our teenage years hell.” She wasn’t exactly someone who was good with learning and education too unless it was something that really interested her, she was much more a hands on person unless it came to solving some sort of mystery. “Not sure how long it’s going to last, you can only be the new kid for so long after all. Though maybe I can stretch it out, accuse them of plotting against me, especially since they all seem to give me odd looks and when I walk away they start whispering about me.”

“I can give you my word that I’m not responsible for any identity theft, but I also realize that can be a little hard to believe considering our current situation,” Winnie replied, looking at her exact replica as though she was seeing herself in the mirror for the first time. “Winifred,” she said, realizing that this girl really didn’t know who she was. “But please, call me Winnie. Only my parents call me Winifred and it’s usually when they’re very unhappy with me,” she added quickly. “How about you? What’s your name?”

“You’re right, it is a little hard to believe and given I don’t know you, your word could be as good a dirt for all I know.” She had read and watched to many conspiracy theories to just believe that the other wasn’t involved in some alien kind of bullshit or something about wanting to take her identity for.... some reason, so she felt like she was going to need to get some more questions answered before she lowered her guard. “Winnie, alright.” She said with a small nod, trying to think if her father had mentioned anyone called Winifred or Winnie and she couldn’t say the name was familiar. “Katherine. Though everyone calls me Kit- like you, my Dad only calls me Katherine if he’s pissed with me. Which is... quite often actually.”

“Don’t tell me this is the best that you can do,” Caden barked, looking clearly not impressed with the other. “We have been over this technique multiple times and if that’s what you’re giving me after all this time then I should just fail you now and save both of us time.”

“We’ve been over this technique multiple times today, yes. But need I remind you I only ended up in this crazy ass school this week. This-” She commented gesturing around to the outside arena and other people like her battling it out between themselves. “Is something completely new to me, it’s just been me and my dad sparring for as long as I remember, so maybe cut me a break.”

“Well, there are some things that aren’t real like vampires and werewolves still don’t exist as far as I know.” Elyse tried her best to explain to the other, she knew how hard this must be for her. “I mean, technically, he did make it up in a way? Tinkerbell and her fairies aren’t real and last time I checked, we weren’t 6 inches tall like she is.”

“Ah, but you’ve just said there, you don’t think they exist as far as you know, not that they don’t exist at all. So technically, if fairies can exist then there is a eighty percent, if not larger percent chance that werewolves, vampires and more importantly Mothman exists.” Kit continued, trying to drive her point home and not willing to back down until the other admitted defeat. “But do you guy’s have wings?”

“I used to do this all the time when I lived in Florida,” he answered. “I’ve only fallen once, so I’m not really that scared to fall out. Plus, I’ve had way worse happen to me than falling from a tree, so…” he trailed off with a slight shrug. Christian made his way down to Kit. “Now, what did you need?”

“Oh you lived in Florida, well that explains everything.” Kit commented with a small nod of her head, having only been to the state once and vowing to never go again. No matter how good Disney World was. “Is this the part where I’m supposed to ask about these worse things and pretend to care? Because I’ll need a moment to perfect my listening nod.” She commented before waving her hand at the other when he asked what she wanted. “Oh, I didn’t actually want anything. Like I said, just wanted to see if I could get you to fall out the tree and I failed my mission.”

the girl was a bit shocked at the other’s revelations. unless mothman was also a scary name for a cute guy, lilith was sure she probably wasn’t interested in keeping this conversation up. “if you’ve got a crush on mothman that’s totally your problem, okay. but if you ask me a dumb question, i’m going to tell you how it is,” lilith sighed. “there’s no mothman. and if you’re here and i am here we’re fairies. and walt disney would have definitely eaten this shit up, but looks like his imagination wasn’t good enough to invent us.”

“Did-.... did you just ask me if I had a crush on the Mothman?” Kit asked the other, amusement clear on her face as she had to bite down on her fist to stop the laughter from bursting out of her. “Do you even know what the Mothman is? Because something tells me if you did, you wouldn’t be asking me if I had a crush on him. Unless I look like the freaky kinky kind of type and if that’s the case, well then, alright.” Kit tutted at the other and crossed her arms over her chest, “But how do you know there’s no Mothman, like, where’s you proof?” She couldn’t help but ask, “Also not sure if I am a fairy, it’s all kind of murky right now but I don’t really have powers. I just know how to kick someone’s ass really well.” Kit looked at the other before mumbling, “Well given everything else he’s created I’d say his imagination is pretty good, he did make Tinkerbell after all. Are you telling me that y’all aren’t like Tinkerbell?”

Winnie was not one to eavesdrop, but upon hearing some loud banter about a ‘Mothman’, she couldn’t help but be intrigued. Unfamiliar with the theory, she tuned in. It was only when the conversation seemed to be going south that she properly looked up from her book to see who was exchanging this debate. “Well I just found out you existed,” Winnie commented upon seeing the blonde just a table away from her. “What’s– what’s going on? Why do you look exactly like me?”

Upon hearing someone a table away pipe up, she had a feeling she was going to have to start laying into her about how she was valid to believe such a thing, but she couldn’t help but feel her words fall short upon what she was seeing. “Maybe I should ask why you look like me, I mean- I don’t know what you fairies are capable of, maybe you think it’s fun to steal someone’s identity. Spoiler alert, it’s not.” She commented, leaving her conversation about Mothman behind and moving to the others table and sitting down across from her. “What’s your name?”

“I have a conspiracy theory,” Simona announced, barely waiting for the other’s reaction before they started talking again, “I think all the teachers have meetings just so they can plan to have tests and assignments due all on the same day. Seriously, I have three assignments due tomorrow and a test the next day. I think I’m onto something here, what do you think? How many do you have?” 

“You had me at conspiracy theory.” Kit perked up, devoting all her attention to the other with those two captivating words. However she couldn’t feel a little let down that it was about school work and teachers and not about a mystery or the unknown. “Didn’t you know that it’s in the job description of a professor to make all their students miserable, if you aren’t able to abide by that rule you get canned.” She teased the other, “None. I don’t think. But maybe they’re giving me the benefit of the doubt since I only turned up at this weird ass place at the beginning of the week.”

Christian is sitting high up in a tree, taking photos with his camera. He nearly falls when she is startled by someone screaming to him. “God, don’t you know not to startle someone high off the ground?”

“Actually no, I thought it’d be fun to see if you would fall out. A little disappointed you didn’t if I’m being honest.” Kit commented looking up at the other with a sly smirk on her face, “But being startled is your own fault, if you’re going to be so flighty. Don’t sit in trees, just common sense, really.”

“I’m sorry, I just found out this place existed. That people like you exist, that fairies exist, and you’re telling me that my theories of Mothman being real are crazy?” Kit complained, or more like ranted at the other as she shook her head. “You can’t tell me he’s not real when you’re living proof that all this shit isn’t just something Walt Disney made up.”
