letting go isn’t something I’ve done before

Today marks exactly one week of a new year. I’m not one to celebrate the turning of a calendar, but this year feels a little different. The past year has brought some of my lowest times, and my highest hopes. I started the year off utterly disenchanted with myself, stuck in a rut. I got fed up feeling tired of being tired and put myself to work. I started taking care of my body and my mind, said peace out to 50 pounds. I took what felt like one million credits, while working 40-45 hours a week. I got a huge promotion, that came with a job I love- one that has a simple ladder up to my chosen career. I went on what felt like 50 first dates, and spent time falling back in love with myself. Thanks to all the shitty stuff that happened this year- I learned to be incredibly grateful for what is surrounding me. While there’s a lot to celebrate, there’s a lot more to look forward to. This next year will bring graduation, a lot of therapy, a heck ton of work, and fixing that damn dent.
