It’s 2025 and I’m still shipping Klaroline

"You have some serious trust issues don't you?" He licked his lips and gave her a smirk. "You haven't given me much of a reason to trust you so far, love. Shall we perform a small test, then?" Caroline gulped, but tried to remain nonchalant. She shrugged. "Fine. Compel me if it makes you feel better." She could pretend to be compelled. Hopefully he didn't ask her to do anything too horrible to prove herself. “We need to think of something you would never do unless you were compelled to do so,” Klaus reflected. Klaus propped their torch in a safe spot and circled her as he considered his options. There were endless ways he could compel her to torture herself. He could force her to break off a branch and stake herself somewhere non-lethal. The sun would be up soon and he could force her to hold an arm or leg outside to burn. They could go back to the vervain trap and have some fun there. Caroline scoffed at the dramatic way he hummed and rubbed the scruff at his chin in deep thought. She didn’t know why her brain automatically went to torture, but it wouldn’t really prove much if he asked her to twirl on her toes and sing a falsetto version of Happy Birthday. A grin spread across his lips that she didn’t like and she braced herself as he moved to her, stopping only when his face was inches from hers. "I want you to kiss me."

Story Summary: The girls come up with a plan to send Caroline back in time to kill Klaus before he ever arrives in Mystic Falls. But it turns out their plan won’t be as simple as they thought. Especially when Caroline gets stuck in the past & only has Klaus to rely on.

Chapter CW: mentions of blood, mild violence, magic usage, slow burn, enemies to lovers, sexual innuendo, language is a wee anachronistic not unlike original TVD, mild dubcon if you squint really hard (basically what you see in the excerpt above), quick debate of ethics of blood drinking/eating meat

MarvelousKatie really wrote the most tragic fic in history of fanfics like nothing could ever compare to a time travel story where two enemies fall in love only for the man to watch his love die by the hands of his father, going through 500 years of endless pain and misery while trying to raise her back for the dead and failing, not knowing dying actually sent her back to her original time.

But as his eyes took in the woman at the bottom, his look of humbleness turned to amusement. He crouched next to the edge, smirking as two sad blue eyes stared up at him in horror. "Well well," he said, "what have we here?"

Klaus’s eyes were filling with tears, one escaping and rolling down his cheek. Caroline’s mouth hung open, gaping slightly at the show of emotion coming from Klaus. It was all so surreal; the evil villain, kneeling in front of her, crying and she didn’t even understand why.
