It’s spring 🌸 To celebrate, here’s a poster from a project I worked on a few months ago about the seasons, featuring Silver reimagined in a Japanese woodblock print style, inspired by spring ^^

Seeing the words "Disney" and "Brothers Grimm" in the same sentence has become such a trigger for me because I just know someone's about to spit some straight BULLSHIT 8 times outta 10 when those things are mentioned together.

A local radio station was talking about Cinderella yesterday morning and the guy was talking about Grimm's Cinderella and how the stepsisters were cutting off their heels in order to fit into the slipper. And then he said "He could see why Disney took that out" and I wanted to scream.

Do you know how many Disney movies are directly based on the Brothers Grimm tales?!

So, ironically, Brothers Grimm wasn't even the biggest source for Disney (though you could argue with regard to the two Charles Perrault stories that Grimm later copied and the E. D. Baker parody "The Frog Princess" which was copied from Grimm), but Hans Christian Anderson, the writer of multiple fairy tales (two full WDAS movies with sequels, one Fantasia 2000 segment, two WDAS short animations {Ugly Duckling and Match Girl} and one which, while it didn't become a movie itself, inspired the new title of the previously Mark Twain inspired "Emperor Of The Sun" that would be remade as "The Emperor's New Groove") and who grew up with Arabian Nights (from which Aladdin comes from) and knew Charlies Dickens (the writer of Oliver Twist that became Oliver & Company)

I think that radio station and anyone else that says Disney and Brothers Grimm in the same sentence that isn't talking about Tangled or Snow White should have a swear jar where every time they do that they put a dollar in and 2 dollars if it's a Hans story and when it fills up they donate the money to the Hans Christian Anderson Museum and/or the Library Of Congress.
