Born of Weaver and Moth, this little Silk Moth travels with a desire to explore and learn of the world around her. And maybe collect a few things along the way.
A silkfly flies into her the window breaking it, holding a courier package
Here is the package you ordered.
Anyways, BYYYEEEE!
The silkfly exists the scene as fast as it came.
@singular-silkfly
[Luckily for the Silkfly courier, there was no window to break for Mori was currently in Far Fields.]
[The package was dropped into her claws.]
Package? But I didn't order anything?? Unless I did and I forgot...
OOH, or maybe papa delivered something!
...But how would he know exactly where I am??
Suspicious...
What's a fun memory you have?
A fun memory? Ooooo, good question!
I have a lot of fun memories with my papa. It's hard to choose just one!
Ummm...oh!
There is this one time my papa and I were out hunting and we ran into this crack in the cavern wall. I went inside to investigate it and papa had to chase after me, heehee! Beyond the crack was a hidden little cave full of crystals!
Pink ones, purple ones, and white ones! There were some small bioluminescent mushrooms too, which made that little cave all the more magical. If I remember right, I think the crystals there were all quartz based? So, rose quartz, amethyst, and normal quartz if I'm right!
Papa said that the cave reminded him of "a place he used to know." He never elaborated, but I thought that was interesting.
...I wonder how he is. I should visit him sometime! Maybe when I'm done exploring here?
A little vessel scuttled up to Mori.
"Hello!! would you like a flower?"
The vessel held up a pale yellow flower.
"Also what are you? haven't seen somebug like you yet.."
Oh- hallo! This is beautiful flower. Thank you. :D
What am I? I'm a moth! Well...half moth and half whatever my mama was. But I look mostly like a moth! :D
I've never seen a bug like you before either. You look really interesting though! Adorable too! :D
OMG moth! That's so cool! Do you have DREAM magic?
Hallo! :D
Sorry, I don't think so?? I don't know what "dream magic" is, so I have no idea if I have it or not.
The only uhh... "magic" I have, if you can call it that, is silk! And I'm...not very good at using it, haha!
. . .
...There is this...shield thing though...
[Quietly humming some melody she couldn’t quite name, Mori wandered through Far Fields. She explored every nook and cranny she could, and collected anything they found interesting enough to keep.]
[They didn’t seem to be paying much attention to their overall surroundings. Merely cheerfully collecting shiny rocks, lost rosaries, pretty leaves, and whatnot.]
- @kleptomaniac-moth
As Hermit was walking through the Far Fields, he heard the gentle humming, though he wasn't sure where it was coming from. He moved on to the place where probably the source of this sound was and saw... A moth.
They didn't like him in the slightest when he came to the Resting Grounds, so this one probably wouldn't too. Though, instead of going away to meet Spotlight, he started to stalk them from afar, so they wouldn't feel his presence.
[Mori was blissfully unaware of someone following her, merely snooping around and looking at anything they found interesting. She continued to hum, the notes occasionally interrupted by a curious and intrigued "oh!" and "ooo."]
[They paused at a crevice in one of the cavern walls, moving close and crouching down to peer inside. She cooed in curiosity and reached in...and pulled out a small cloudy crystal.]
Straight to the collection with you!
[Mori chuckled, still having not noticed the one following her.]
Something about this moth was wrong and Hermit noticed that. He got intrigued when he saw the mandibles, second pair of claws and eyes which is very unusual for a moth...
The moth moved closer to better examine Mori and even forgot about his nightmarish aura... She could finally feel how something terrifying was close.
[Only when the unseen stranger moved closer did Mori notice something was off. Or rather, felt something.]
[A chill ran through Mori’s shell as they were now aware of the feeling of being watched. She wasn’t entirely afraid—her curiosity overpowered that—but that feeling of eyes was enough to unsettle her.]
[Mori seemed to shudder and drew away from their spot beside the crevice they pulled the crystal from. Standing up, she looked around.]
Uhh….hello?
That’s…weird…
"Greetings, mothling." The moth said from afar, but still audible enough to be heard. "What would you say if you'd met a Nightmare Child? Would you curse him like the rest of the Tribe or you would accept his nature?"
[When the unseen spoke, Mori looked around before pausing over where the voice seemed to come from. At the questions asked, she tilted her head curiously.]
Hm? A "nightmare child?" Tribe? Sorry, I don't know what you mean. I haven't met any tribe, I don't think...
But I do think so long as you don't attack me, we're fine! I am not one to judge someone for where they came from or...whatever you're talking about.
Would you like some crystals? There's a small vein of quartz in this crevice here!
Hermit threw his hook above Mori, making it stick to the wall, and pulled on the string to fly towards it, then landed infront of the moth. He was looking like how any other moth would, though his headshape was pretty... Different and something about him was wrong.
"Hm, you're not from the Moth Tribe? I suppose you're not even a simple mothling like I thought. Your parent was someone different, isn't it?" He walked around her to better examine her body and while doing so took his hook from the wall.
[Mori couldn't help but flinch slightly as the hooked weapon suddenly flew into the wall above her. She didn't move from where she was crouched though. Seemed she only flinched because it was sudden.]
[Then the one who was speaking to them from some hiding place followed the hook, landing beside them. They stared at the new bug for a moment before pushing themself to their feet. As they examined the bug, Mori's expression slowly changed to one of curiosity and surprise.]
You're a moth. Like me! I haven't met very many moths, only a couple outside of my papa.
[She paused when the moth before her spoke.]
Moth tribe? I've never heard of a "moth tribe" before. There's a whole tribe of us?
And...yeah, my mama wasn't a moth. I don't think. I don't know for sure? Some of her records back at home are rather worn down, so I don't know what she was.
[She paused again, realizing something.]
Oh! How rude of me! I didn't introduce myself or even ask for your name!
I'm Mori! It's a pleasure to meet you. What's your name, friend?
As the moth was walking around her, he examined mostly something that felt out of place. "... You have two pairs of limbs and eyes, interesting. And these mandibles... Very unusual for a moth. Your mother probably was a predator..."
He firmly stood infront of her again, looking in her eyes, then bowed much alike Grimm. "Nice to meet you, Mori. I won't tell you my name, but you may call me Hermit. And yes, there was a Moth Tribe where my mother was living. The main word 'was', because this Tribe is no longer alive as far as I remember."
[Mori's gaze followed Hermit as he circled her, examining him as he was examining her.]
I think she was? I don't know what kind though.
[Just as Hermit seemed to be intrigued by Mori, Mori was intrigued by Hermit. They had only met a small clawful of moths since arriving in this kingdom and so far, they were similar in appearance to that of her father. Well, aside from markings and wing shapes and whatnot. Regardless, Hermit was quite different, and that was intriguing.]
If you don't want to tell me your real name, I won't pry! It's nice to meet you Hermit.
That explains why I don't know what that is. I knew other moths existed, but I've never heard of a tribe of us. It's really sad that the tribe is gone though...it would've been nice to meet them.
But hey! At least I met you!
"Hmph... I don't want to meet them again. They rejected me, because I'm a child of the Nightmare King. You could feel it, it makes all bugs terrified of me." The tone of his voice was filled with disgust, but then changed to the sweet one in the couple of seconds. "But you're the second moth I've met here in Pharloom that doesn't minds my nature and, further more, intrigued by it."
"As long as you won't be like them, we might be friends. Though I'm trying not to have such relationship, my apologies." Mori could've notice the shiny thing on his neck. It was dark blue gem and probably connected two parts of his clothes that were looking royal, but old and damaged.
The…Nightmare King? I don’t know who that is, but rejecting someone or hating them for being the child of someone they don’t like is awful. It’s cruel, it’s rude, and entirely unnecessary.
…What do you mean by I can feel it?
[She tilted her head and there was a pause before Mori speaks.]
OHHH. You’re the reason I got the chills before. That feeling of anxiety! I haven’t met anyone that could incite emotions like that. An…aura I think it’s called? I think that’s an interesting ability!
I do feel that anxiety still, but that’s probably out of your control. You haven’t done anything to scare or hurt me, so I’m perfectly fine with you! It’d be great to have a moth friend!
[It was only now that Mori’s gaze zeroed in on the deep blue gem on his outfit. The lighter color in Mori’s eyes dilated at the sight of the pretty gem. They were more interested in the gem, though the whole outfit itself was interesting. Though faded, the purple and blue of the clothes complimented each other nicely, and the gem tied it together.]
Oooo, that is a beautiful crystal! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one this dark of a blue before…where’d you find it? Your outfit as a whole is nice too! Darker purples and blues always go so well together.
"Yes, the Nightmare King is the Higher Being connected to the Dream Realm. And I fully understand why they've rejected me..." Hermit takes something round from under his cloak and handles it to Mori. "Here. This is the dream nail, a tool used to collect Essence. As I see, your father haven't taught you anything the Moth Tribe would, so let me do it instead."
"By this very tool you can enter others' dreams and read thoughts, though I shall warn you that using this is not very decent. Moths, unlike any other bugs besides Higher Beings, can feel how someone uses it on them, and you can as well. It'll take some time to fully understand it, but I do believe that you'll get it."
"I appreciate your kindness, truly, you are one of the most heartwarming bugs I've met. I really would like to be friends, but..." He rubbed his shoulder. "... Unfortunately, I can't do this... You're probably mortal and having any relationship with them for a Higher Being such as me is... Painful. My apologies..."
Once she mentioned the gem, he touched it with one of his claws a bit without covering it. "Thank you for the compliment. It's less of a crystal and more of a simple decoration for the cloak. It was pretty popular among the bugs in the City of Tears, a grand looking place from my homelands. A friend of mine gifted me these clothes, but they've been worn out by the time, as you can see."
[As Hermit explained what the Nightmare King was, Mori simply stared at him blankly, clearly not fully understanding what some of those words meant.]
Higher Being? Dream Realm?? Sorry! I uhh...have no idea what those are either...
[Mori trailed off. Part of them felt foolish, though they couldn't quite explain why. Perhaps simply because they didn't know. Mori tapped their claws together sheepishly as Hermit withdrew something with a familiar pattern in the glass.]
[She paused and tilted her head at the sight, stepping closer to get a better look at the thing Hermit held in his claw. When he handed it to her, she held it gently and examined it closely. That pattern...]
A...dream nail? Huh. It's pretty.
...The little pattern in the glass kind of looks like the uh....what are they called?...I can't remember what they're called, but my papa used to make little things that look like this out of string and wood. He always said they were for decoration and never meant anything...
. . .
[Mori trailed off again, thinking before diverting her attention to Hermit as he explained what the dream nail could do. She still seemed a little confused, but she looked more curious and intrigued than anything else. Occasionally, as Hermit explained, Mori looked at the dream nail again, feeling the metal and glass while she listened.]
This little thing can enter dreams and read minds? That feels...invasive. Interesting and very cool! But uhh...invasive.
What's "Essence?"
[She paused as he continued, then tilted her head.]
I don't understand what you mean by that. Though, that's probably because I don't know what a Higher Being is... How does being a Higher Being prevent you from being friends?
[Quietly humming some melody she couldn’t quite name, Mori wandered through Far Fields. She explored every nook and cranny she could, and collected anything they found interesting enough to keep.]

Oh! Thank you!
I actually really like word puzzles, thank you for this. :D
hey so while you werent looking i kind of turned ten inches of your (normal) height into making you more fluffy and exaggerating your moth and weaver features
I- I have no idea how to respond.
Extra fluff means extra warmth though, so that’s great! :D

[Mori wandered through the Deep Docks for a while, exploring it as they headed deeper within. There was a lot of lava everywhere Mori turned, flintstone veins lining several walls and containers filled with various minerals on several of the platforms she saw.]
[As much as she wanted to, Mori didn't take any flintstone. It was far too hot for her claws to hold and would likely burn other things within her satchel.]
[She continued on, carefully gliding down through the caverns as they went ever deeper into the Docks. It was long before she found a large room with a platform in the center. All around it was lava and past the room was a hallway leading to a massive bell.]
[And in the middle of the room, a little ways away from the platform, was the symbol of Pharloom. Not that Mori knew what that was.]
[Or...did she?]
[It was damaged, long lines and large cracks etched on the symbol, there was a massive patch of moss and greenery coating one side of it, and the emblem itself was half sunk into the lava.]
[But despite all this, despite the damage, despite a portion of it being hidden away by molten rock and flame, Mori stared at it and felt...a painful familiarity. She felt like she could scarcely breathe, as though nearly all the air in the room suddenly disappeared. They stepped out onto that platform, their gaze never leaving the statue as they stopped at the center of the platform.]
[They recognized it, or the shape of it at least. The sphere, the hooked part of it, how it was all held together. Mori recognized it, it was familiar to them, but she couldn't remember how or why or where she could've possibly seen it. It hasn't been present throughout her journey so far. This was the first time they were seeing it, but something felt so painfully familiar about it.]
[Mori realized she was shaking, two of her hands tightly clutching the string of her satchel as she tried to seem smaller than she was. She reached up and felt a wetness on her face. She was crying. When did she start crying? Why was she crying?]
I...I don't...
[They didn't understand. They couldn't understand. This...thing, this statue, this symbol...they knew it. They knew they did. But they couldn't figure out how nor understand why. Something in them though...it told her this was important.]
[Trying to wipe away her tears, Mori stared at the statue for several long minutes, almost terrified to look away. She forced herself to take deep breaths, holding in as much air as she could for a brief moment, before forcing herself to continue onwards.]
[Even as they passed the bell shrine and entered what she didn't know was called Far Fields, the image of the statue refused to leave her.]
