Ben stares at Rey, his heart pounding and his mind shrieking as thoughts fire off in thousands of different directions. He wants her to forgive him, to tell him he’ll be alright and that she’ll be there for him. The young man trusts her with every fiber of his being, even if his words betray it. Stuttering, he speaks, “You... aren’t fraudulent. I... Rey,” he can feel his emotions attempting to tear himself into pieces. All he wants is to touch her, to feel his skin against her own and for her to tell him that things will be better. Perhaps it is foolish to think so, but she had awoken in him feelings of tenderness, of regret. He still loathed his father and mentor, their fear and distrust of him led Snoke to use him for his own powers. But now, now it felt like it barely mattered.

“Rey. I... I don’t know myself. But I do I care... very deeply, for you. I need you, more than anything I’ve ever known I need you by my side. Name the conditions and I shall meet them.”

Kylo Ren’s eyes narrow on Rey. Anger bubbles up from his stomach and also shoots straight out of his mouth in a volley of curses and outrage at her. Her. The one who betrayed him in the moment where everything was supposed to finally go right, where she’d join him and they’d finish the meaningless cycle the galaxy was trapped in. But no, she would deny him to serve the ghost of Luke Skywalker and his father, shameful old men who had both taught her that it was perfectly reasonable to hate him, to wish that he were dead. But he can’t help himself from gazing at her, all because of the way she gazes at him. The way she sees past his failures and his anger and his darkness. Her light shines brilliantly into his very being when she looks at him. He supposes now it was all just further Jedi mind manipulation to fool him into believing the Resistance had anything worth fighting for. Trickery and deceit- the Jedi’s favorite tools. 

“I thought you would be different. I had believed you wished to save this galaxy. You’re no less fraudulant than Skywalker or Han Solo.”

“I’d rather be executed with everyone else,” Rey says flatly, swinging the staff in a figure eight around herself. “If the Resistance loses I hardly see much reason to live as the prisoner of a pathetic tyrant.” He wants to hurt, she can do it too, and every word that spills from her lips is true. As much as she’d once wanted to be with him, she wants nothing to do with the Supreme Leader.

“As if you’d be a prisoner. You know full well you were meant to rule this galaxy with me, should you need coersion then so be it. But you know your destiny, Rey. You know it as well as I do.”

Ben cannot betray the sadness he feels. It’s the same feeling of abandonment and betrayal that Luke and his father had seated him with. He’d believed Rey was different, that there was something more to her than them. But perhaps he had figured wrong, and she’d abandon him just as the rest of them had.

“Did all those conversations we had mean nothing to you? You’re no better than any of the disgusting Jedi who’d come before you. You could be an Empress, an unstoppable force for peace and yet you’d content yourself fighting a losing war and hurting the one person who cares for you as anything more than a weapon.”

i miss something i’ve never known.

Ben sighs, looking over to Rey. The bond, it appeared, had not been severed and she’d returned to taunt him. Or so he thought, here she was telling him that she’d missed him. 

“I... I’ve missed you too, Rey.”

“I never have,” Rey agreed readily, angry at the Force for making their Bond continue despite their disastrous split. And so angry at him for willfully misunderstanding everything about her and throwing it in her face. For continuing to do so. “But you’re hardly what I miss.”

Focusing on the staff in her hands, she went through the motions of training, trying to distract from him, and the thoughts of the family she couldn’t remember and had never truly had that had led to her original comment threatening to intrude.

Ben steps closer to her, her words cutting him deeply but he wouldn’t show it. He couldn’t tell her how much he cared for her. The remorse he felt for what he had done. There isn’t a way for him to stifle his anger, he wants to lash out- to exchange blows with her as he had before. But he can’t. He’s still too enamored with her. She drives him insane, the way she moves, the lilt of her voice, her strength.

“How’s your little Resistance? I’m sure General Organa is stretching whatever is left of you to its breaking point. I’ll make sure you’re spared once this petty war is over.”

Ben grimaces at the sound of her voice.

“Yes.”

i miss something i’ve never known.

“You don’t know me, do you?” Ben sneers.

He’d hope she’d keep her distance after he’d finished off Luke. Hoping she’d abandon the idealistic notion that she could save him, as if she wasn’t the one in the clutches of the Resistance. The greatest lot of fools, and the last thing standing in his way of reforming the Galaxy into a peaceful home for everyone, not just those who would worship at the feet of the Light Side of the force.

He so wanted her to be different, for her to show him the kindness he though her capable of. There was nothing different about her. She hated him as everyone else did, after fooling him into thinking she cared for him. Typical trickery of General Organa and her ilk.

even monsters are welcome when your home feels empty. 

when you’re near the creatures inside me go still and quiet and watch you from behind my eyes.

sometimes love isn’t enough.

i can only infer love exists from it’s effects on others.

i want love, but i have no idea who will make me happy.

emptiness doesn’t know it’s own shape.

i do not believe in love at first sight, but damn.

nothing can change the way i feel about you. i wish it could.

i don’t want a world without pain, or loss. i just want them to mean something.

when people say our love won’t last forever it sounds they think anything will.

everyone smiles at us, like we’re the cutest couple. let’s do something wrong.

when we die, we come back different, like, with greener eyes, or as some far off star.

when we die i believe we go to a better place. nowhere.

judge all you want, we all die. i’m going to deserve it.

every time i almost die i feel so alive. why would i wanna be more careful?

truth and beauty are wonderful words but shrapnel is shrapnel and at the end of the day i am alone with the things i have done.

Hey guys so I’m trying to get this blog up and running again so here’s some stuff:

   A slight smile and she found herself leaning into the touch, eyes fluttering for the small moment that she allows to enjoy his affection. It was rare for her to give in to something like this, even rarer for him to offer such open admiration. Perhaps they would become more familiar in the future but for now, Rey would revel in the novelty of it.

   ❝Nothing wrong, exactly. Unless you want everyone to know about your affiliation with the First Order, of course. But no, nothing wrong. ❞

Ben smiles, shrugging his shoulders. He supposes they could make a stop at a marketplace or to his old quarters on Ahch-To. It doesn’t particularly bother him that he’ll have to change. The clothing was unimportant, what mattered was the strangeness of their intimacy. Ben had never felt so warm before, so completely infatuated he could barely think straight.

“Rey? May I...” he nearly chokes on his next words, fearing he’s overstepping his boundaries, “May I kiss you?”

Hi everyone, I’m not dead. I’m RPing Star Lord from the MCU at @getyourluv and have sort of regained the Kylo/Ben muse a little. If anyone wants my discord or anything let me know, and I may be able to do some threads.
