Looking for a home for wool of Olympic proportions...
K2TOG will be up until 30 September, but we are already thinking about what will happen to the wool after the piece has been taken down.
After all the goodwill and time put into the project, we are eager for the wool from the installation to be reused and go to a good cause. We are now looking for people or organisations who would be interested in it.
Over 1300 balls of wool, approximately 220 for each column have been used in order to make the installation, including Alpaca, Merino and a blend of British wool. All are 100% natural fibers.
If you are interested in the used wool, or have any more questions please email.

Some of the many knitters involved in K2TOG. Thank you everyone. We couldn't have done it without you.
Some more photographs of the finished piece.
400 volunteer knitters, over 1300 balls of wool and approximately 4500 hours later and we are finished! Thank you so much to everyone who was involved. We couldn't have done it without you.
K2TOG will now remain in place, covering the columns of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery until 30 September. Please pop down and have a look, and if you contributed you can proudly say 'I knitted that!' :)
Some more installation pictures. Nearly there!
Also, thank you to Midlands Today for coming down to film. The interview with Sara will be broadcast today.
Photo Call
I want to invite everyone who participated in K2TOG to a group photo call in front of the exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday 4th August at 9:30am. I would like as many people as possible to come along and be photographed in front of the exhibition so we can commemerate the mammoth effort made by the knitters of Birmingham and beyond. Hope to see you all on 4th August.
A few images from today's installation
The first column is taking shape!
The columns yesterday evening. Today waterproofs are on and we will hopefully get the rest of the initial coverings up.
Another column sewn together. Nearly there!
Some of the students have been to the K2TOG project today to help sew together the knitted pieces created for the columns of the BMAG.
It was great to have some students from South Birmingham College help us sew last week. Thank you for helping us guys!
5 days until the Jamaican team arrive! We are still busy sewing away...
Red column all sewn up. Just 5 more to go...
Some more images from our first 2 days of sewing up panels for K2TOG.
