never felt more understood by a book paragraph
The fuck you mean christiane f. continued using after the book and the film were published and she got hepatitis from an infected needle in the late 80s. And after the film people found her a fashion icon and would go to the zoo station and the drug experts were afraid young girls would treat her as a role model (as it happens). And she’s still alive???? But still abuses substances and says she never wanted to quit them??
I never really thought about it but I suppose that’s a more likely scenario than giving it up completely and going clean firm “choose life”
What a bleak bleak film
Also I realized I’m not at all used to seeing or reading about a ritual of shooting up in the 70s. Were they really this reckless before the aids crisis, wow. Using a stranger’s needle and washing the blood out in the toilet water. Going through withdrawal with wine (that’s probably not at all unusual, just didn’t see it before).
And when her mom found out and just called her boyfriend for them to go cold turkey together. What great parenting.
I’m considering reading a book for more details, wiki says there’s her mother’s and other people’s perspective.
The shit leaves you numb
The train wallpaper in mark's childhood bedroom symbolizing that his surroundings led him to addiction...
Just had THE BEST trainspotting rewatch session after reading the book and getting into britpop a bit
Haven't had the joy of going "this is the same in the book and that's different" in a while
What a cinematic masterpiece
I didn't remember the soundtrack exactly so i played a guessing game and i recognized blondie, new order, lou reed and blur and elastica of course
The SECOND i heard amusement park waltz music playing in the closing credits i knew it was damon's work
the dogs are communicating on stage again
Graham listens to Resigned by BLUR
happy carl barât accidentally kissing graham coxon on the lips then getting laughed at by liam gallagher and derisively smirked at by evil dimly-lit noel sunday x
It's so hard to stop going "i am theo and she's like boris" about every person you have close emotional connection with
thinking about my terracotta heart and how damon really wrote this song a few years after having gotten graham back because he couldn’t stop reflecting on their relationship and the sheer terror of losing him a second time

Never underestimate how bleak Blur lyrics can be.
Finished trainspotting and returned to give skagboys a second chance
