Andreas Gehrke's documentary approach to Berlin is borrowed from the legacy of his peers (I am thinking of the objective reality of the New Topographics, of the Besher couple...) but what is quite striking is the way he constructs his visual narrative aiming to reveal the traces left by this city in its contemporary history. Even if the aesthetics is somewhat "Jansenist" it remains graphically interesting.

As part of the masterclass in video offered by the MEP, whose thematic series devoted to "Photographing the city" had given the floor to Lise Sarfati to present her work on Los Angeles and Moscow in particular, I can only recommend this little contest on Instagram whose theme is "My City". Logical continuation of this awakening so rich, whose Lise's words, apart from the prodigious work she presented to us, was based on texts of philosophers including those of Jean Baudrillard in America.

He wrote: "In this centrifugal metropolis, if you get out of your car, you are a delinquent, the moment you start walking, you are a threat to public order, like stray dogs on the roads. Only Third World immigrants have the right to walk. It is their privilege, in a way, linked to that of occupying the empty heart of the metropolis. For the others, walking, fatigue, and muscular activity have become rare goods, services that sell for a high price. Thus, ironically, things are reversed. In the same way, the waiting times in front of luxury restaurants or fashionable clubs are often longer than in front of popular restaurants. That's democracy, the poorest signs will always have at least a chance to become fashionable."
